The accommodation and location was perfect

Breakfast first morning wasn’t up to scratch and I believe the food I had from the bar gave myself and partner food poisoning and we ended up missing my cousins 30th birthday party.

Good looking bedroom, comfortable bed, nice bathroom (with reservations). Great food in the bar (but had to wait 30 minutes for it because bar staff overrun). Very comfortable public rooms. Good location next to A! and absolutely quiet from road noise.

TV didn't work fully - restricted stations - even moved rooms to be able to see something we particularly wanted to see, and then moved back when we found the TV in the second room was as bad, No ventilation in the bathroom and no shaver socket. One member of staff at the bar taking drinks and food orders is not enough on a Friday evening, especially when wedding guests are arriving for the following day (they went elsewhere).

A really beautiful building sympathetically restored and renovated. Excellent showers with great pressure, comfortable beds and good quality linen Every member of staff couldn’t do enough for us they were all professional, friendly and happy to help… This was gratefully received and appreciated! The friendliness of all the staff made our short stay wonderful and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel or return when we are in the area (and I am a bit of a stickler for good service!) thanks!!

There was nothing we disliked about the property just on a personal level… We required a ground floor garden room due to my disability, which was thankfully available and very much appreciated. However, as my husband is quite tall, it would have been ideal to have a super king bed situated downstairs. Had we been given the option of a larger bed, we would have gladly taken it and paid any additional cost.

Location for us was good as it was near an event. We had an evening meal which was very well cooked and we had breakfast which was also lovely. Our room was nice but we couldn't connect our devices to the tv. Bed was very comfortable and the toiletries were a nice touch. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the grounds and outdoor spaces. We would definitely return.

Carpets were a little worn. Cups in our room were slightly on the small side and not enough tea and coffee but you only had to request more and it was quickly provided. There isn't much around the hotel to have a wander or a mooch about so it isn't somewhere that you could just pop over to. But we would definitely return.

Beautifully restored hotel, well appointed rooms and bathrooms with comfortable beds, quality lines and airconditioning. Gardens of hotel are beautiful. Staff are friendly and welcoming. We booked a rate inclusive of breakfast and were happy with the cooked breakfast options. Evening meals were well presented with a good variety. Parking on either street or hotel was readily available. WIFI worked well. Prices for rooms were a little on the high side, however I appreciated the cost of maintaining older buildings in such wonderful condition.

The coiled cord on the hairdryer was a little short to allow access to a mirror in one of the two rooms we stayed in.

Obviously recently renovated and the staff were clearly well trained, friendly but appropriate,and helpful. A minor issue with the curtains when we were shown to our room was dealt with by the next day. And,yes, you get shown to your room - a courtesy often lacking in hotels these days! The room (double with a private terrace) Was clean and comfortable, no noise from other rooms. Lovely rain-shower! The gardens are in the process of being re-landscaped but still pleasant and a lovely river walk.

There was nothing to dislike. However, we stayed for two nights to attend a wedding and, although the venue for the wedding, including a secluded garden and courtyard is very separate to the rest of the building, inevitably many of the rooms housed wedding guests. You may want to check that before booking if it would annoy you

This hotel is beautiful and it is in a lovely village. The staff are exceptional. Friendly, polite and helpful. We had a room with a patio and it was lovely. Very clean and spacious with all the things we needed. Bottles of water in the fridge, a hair dryer, plug sockets near the bed, tea and coffee facilities with biscuits. I loved the trees lit up with fairy lights as we walked from the restaurant to our room. There was ample parking off the road. I highly recommend having an evening meal here as the menu was fantastic and the food was delicious.

We had the 8 course tasting menu at Le Prevost which was amazing; be prepared for a lovely unhurried experience...we were the last to leave after this three hour dinner! Breakfast was exceptional; lots of choice with quality ingredients. The staff are all cheerful, efficient, helpful and knowledgable. We were shown around the building the morning of our departure; the staff were obviously very enthusiastic about the new cookery school that is being set up. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and well presented.

Some of the bedroom decor seemed a bit out of place in such an old building. Not a bit gripe but we hadn't realised there was a separate temperature control on the bath water which was also controlling the shower, a note somewhere might have been helpful as it wasn't obvious.

I stayed at this hotel over 30 years ago and had the opportunity to revisit for New Year's Eve with friends from my recommendation. We were not disappointed, and much of the decor, etc. has changed, but the Haycock hotel was still full of opulence and grandure. In particular, the Christmas decorations were absolutely beautiful. The welcome, service, and attention to detail are superb. The rooms full of character, in particular, the Evelyn suite, was wonderful. I could not fault this hotel. Our stay was simply wonderful. Thankyou to the staff who worked hard to make our stay memorable.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. We had lunch in the restaurant on our arrival. The service was good and the food was absolutely delicious. We had a lovely garden patio room. Lots of hanging and drawer space. Lovely large bathroom with walk-in shower. Would definitely stay again.
