The room was beautiful and very clean, the bed extremely comfy (and huge - a lovely super king!). The staff were so helpful and accommodating - we were going to a wedding and so needed to arrive early as well as come back quite late. Where we were early our room understandably wasn't ready, but the staff were still able to give us a key and show us where the room was so that we could head off to the wedding on time. They also talked us through the late-night procedures for coming home after the pub was shut, which was extremely easy. The breakfast was fantastic, and all in all we had a really enjoyable stay here.

We enjoyed our stay at the hornblower very much. Our room was lovely, spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was delicious, cooked fresh, generous and a good choice including smoked salmon. The evening meal was delicious to and good quality and generous portions. The staff were very friendly especially the manager Luke who was very helpful and welcoming.it was well placed for Rutland water and not far from Stamford. We will definitely stay again.

We found the mattress abit firm for our taste and we were disappointed that they stopped serving food at 5pm on the Sunday evening although that could've been because it was Easter Sunday.

There was a lovely, homely feeling about the place. Staff were well mannered and attentive. We booked a table for our evening meal and in addition to the general menu we were offered the festive menu, which came as 2 or 3 courses. We only wanted the main course, and there was no problem with this, and it was a very good and tasty meal. The breakfast was great.

The accommodation, which was separate from the hotel, had everything we needed. The only downside was the noise coming from another bedroom. Whether it was staff or residents having a bit of a party, I do not know, but it kept my friend awake till the early hours of the morning.

The room was nice, it was across the yard from the pub which was good. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was great value as breakfast was included and it was gorgeous. Staff were very nice. Parking advice: we were given a postcode to park but couldn't find it. If you follow the postcode then turn right (opposite Tescos) go through what looks like housing parking right down to the end, through a very narrow arch and there's parking there. Tesco car park is free for 2 hours if you want to check for spaces first. We were also previously given a postcode by the hotel for a local car park but it wasn't overnight, it was short stay, so research your car parks beforehand as there are long stay in Oakham too. Apart from the parking issue, we had a lovely stay.

The only downside is that my sleep was broken with people and cars leaving the car park in front as it's deep gravel and made a lot of noise. Would have been OK if I brought ear plugs though :)

Meals taken were excellent. Staff were extremely helpful (eg.: carrying cases, looking up information) and welcoming. The interior environment was attractive and spacious. The hotel was ideally placed for locations of interest to tourists

No shaver point in the room (4) Car park very difficult to find from main road (no signage until the entrance archway, some distance from approach road)

The room, with four poster bed, was lovely and everywhere was very clean. The staff were very friendly. The food was very good when it arrived.

The service, especially at breakfast, was exceptionally slow. For example, we asked for more toast, which took half an hour to come on both mornings. We were talking with friends, which was why we didn't complain, but it was mildly annoying. Food ordered at the same time came at different times, so one could be almost finished before the other arrived

The room we had was 1 and it was great. Big bed very comfortable and clean loved it and the duty management on the Saturday evening she was so helpful.

When coming into the pub we had to stand in the way of a lot of people with our bags by the bar. In the morning the breakfast was very good quality but the gentleman serving looked and like he really didn’t what to be there. Apart from that some staff were great and the stay was great. We would still go back .

Exceptional breakfast. Clean, room, comfortable bed. Fabulous shower, plenty of hot water, pleasant complimentary toiletries and super fluffy towel. Vert friendly , helpful staff. Hotel located in Main Street, handy for everything: eateries, shops bus and rail stations.

We were in room 6 in the courtyard and unfortunately there seemed to be inadequate soundproofing as we could constantly hear the people above walking about!

Nice hotel attached to a pub in the heart of Oakham. We stayed in the 4-poster bedroom which was large with a brilliant en-suite. But it is a drawback for a premium priced room (£130 per night !!) Rutland Water only 10 minute drive away- great for walks and stop off at the Hornblowers sister pub The Finch on the Hambleton peninsular for refreshments on the way back Breakfast was good with plenty of options and well cooked. We also ate in one evening and again food and service were good. Second night we ate at 10 Dining Street just around the corner. Great Indian with a BYO drinks policy. Defintiely enhanced the visit.

Drawback is that if your room is right on the road and then the traffic outside is noticeable and we were also woken up by a commotion after the local club kicked out at 2:00 in the morning. There are other rooms away from the street and also in the rear building which probably don't have this problem.

A lovely period building in a central location with parking. The food morning and evening was superb . The staff were first class, especially Patrick and Amy. There was a fire in the main building during our stay, which, thankfully, no one was hurt and was dealt with quickly . The stand-out people were the other guests, and Patrick and Amy who looked after us and found alternative accommodation extremely quickly in the late evening . Once the Hornblower is renovated, it will certainly be a place to stay again.

All good.
