Waldhotel Bad Sulzburg is a classic hotel, timeless, even. It is located in a small valley at the end of a road through the forest; the location is stunning and the quiet surroundings are wonderful. Our room was large, and we thought the bed was excellent – but this is very personal; it is a relatively hard mattress. You can take walks in the mountains and to the nearby village, which takes you past the local swimming pool which offers snacks and drinks. The nearby water basin to cool off one’s feet in running mountain water is amazing. Breakfast was ample. We had a very pleasant stay.

Like others mention, when arriving on restaurant closing days or after reception closes, the place does feel a bit deserted. The restaurant itself is alright; I would not particularly recommend it if it wasn’t almost the only decent place in the nearby area. But well, one doesn’t go to Germany for its cuisine, right?

This was a beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing stay. The location is amazing and very charming. The staff is very kind and helpful. The room was absolutely beautiful and the views were great. Pool was very nice as well, with very long opening hours. As long as you stayed active the temperature was perfect. Saunas were nice as well but you needed to ask in advance to have them turned on. The place was were quiet and it was easy to sleep. The breakfast choice was very nice and tasty.

Nothing major - the shower was leaking a bit and I wish there was music during breakfast.

The breakfast was excellent and the personnel were very friendly and attentive. The sauna is also a big plus point for this hotel. Although we had a few rainy days, we really enjoyed the time that we could be outside. The hotel has a lovely terrace, and there are fine hiking trails near the hotel.

We would have appreciated sunnier weather, but there is nothing that the hotel could do about that!

Pool, spa centre, spaces room and surrounding

I see that used to be more visited place and tennis court is closed…. Unfortunately some vegetation is getting over communal areas. This can be also see as a positive but I am really sad to see Japanese knotweed invasion that is not natural to that habitat. It is unfortunately problem of France as well not controlling this invasive plant. Otherwise forest and nature is beautiful.

The area is so quite and in the middle of the forest that you immediately feel relaxed and can properly enjoy a couple of days off. The staff is really nice and helpful. The food is really good also the breakfast was excellent.

While the spa area is already very nice a pool with a bit warmer water would make it really excellent.

The place is simply GREAT. Our 2 year old had so much fun on the playground outside and in the swimming pool inside. The restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was nice with a nice terrace. Our superior room was really spacious. Very nice staff. Nice hiking possibilities and Naturschwimmplatz from the hotel/parking. Good opportunity to relax and calm down from your every day life.

Some critics on a very high level: the room and the staircase could use some nicer decor touch. Also there is no tea or coffee making equipment in the room (but we didn’t ask to get some, probably they would make it happen even). The sauna was not always working, so you have to go and ask for it (=losing a little bit of time). The restaurant staff is slightly overwhelmed when there are a LOT of people, but they were all so lovely, so no big deal. No phone network, but very good wifi instead. All in all there were NO negative points!!!

the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. the good was fabulous! especially dinner but also afternoon cake, and a good choice at breakfast. we liked the location, we took a long walk in the forest every day and always in a different direction!

we wished the jacuzzi was warm, and that the hotel served lunch, but we understand there were staff limitations. the list of facilities on booking.com stated that the pool was adults only but there were children in there.

Definitely a calm place!!! Good restaurant with a beautiful terrace.

Single rooms to the rear side are not necessarily the best choice!

Very decent breakfast. No eggs made to order. But the rest was really good. Diner was just fantastic the restaurant is really good. The chef is really good, the staff is very kind, polite and attentive. Very helpful with children. The gentleman at the reception went out of his way to make our stay extra comfortable. They normally start their sauna and steam baths after 2 pm. But he offered and started it at 9 am the day we were leaving. Amazing attention and hospitality. Will surely go back and recommend this place. For those who love the go on a walk there are multiple trails leading out of the hotel, each of a different length to suit everyones capacity. The location is great too, it is at the end of the road and the trail in the forest starts from the hotel. Just perfect for those who want to stroll or go for hiking.In the evenings one can have high tea with cakes on the terrace. Hits the sweet spot.

Wonderful and peaceful location in the woods. Great for a relaxing / nature-indulging vacation. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Sauna and pool are cherry on top. Dinner was also delicious.

Breakfast variety could be enhanced. No restaurant / afternoon cake service on Sunday. Would have liked a kettle and instant coffee options in room
