I like that the rooms are cleaned and tidied daily, breakfast has varieties to choose from, staff are helpful and polite, cold water daily available in dispenser, great location for the beach and restaurants, good size swimming pool, air condition works perfectly and a good size balcony too

The beddings were never changed all through my stay, I asked for some fresh sheets but was not given, beach towels can not be changed after use either, was told by receptionist you are only allowed one beach towel all through you entire stay

Hotel was spotless, staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is small but has everything required. It is quiet - no crowds in the pool - and has a few areas to relax and chill. It is close to Praia do Vau, with beautiful coves and some nice restaurants. Best views are up a steep hill and it was very hot at 30⁰. There is a hop on, hop off bus which will take you around the coast and Portimao.

Safe in the room wasn't working. We were told it would be repaired next day but unfortunately that didn't happen. However, it was a small issue and didn't spoil our enjoyment.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Alcaide. The hotel is small, affordable, and peacefully located. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was fresh and satisfying — just what you need to start your day right. What really made our stay special was the warm hospitality of Bruno. His genuine friendliness and passion for helping guests stood out immediately. He took the time to share local tips and made us feel truly welcome. That personal touch makes all the difference. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxed and welcoming place in the Algarve!

The property is in a lovely quiet location. It’s still only 7 minutes walk from restaurants, walks and the beach. The breakfast every morning was delicious with an assortment of breakfast dishes. The pool was amazing as we stayed here when temperatures were in the mid 30’s. So the pool was perfect to go for a swim and cool down. All the staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. They made our stay to be honest.

The air conditioning system could be a little better but it was in mid 30’s when we stayed though.

A variety of food available for breakfast. Good quality coffee. Good location if you don’t want to be right in the centre of Portimao. Easy walk to the beach. We really liked the automatic shutters on the window and were great to block out the morning sunlight.

The key card to the door sometimes did not work. We were told that if the card was next to a mobile phone then it wiped the information but this did not always appear to be the case. Kettle along with selection of teas and coffees arrived midway through our stay. But there was no milk.

The staff were lovely, the place was exceptionally clean, the pool was so clean and really lovely. Just a 5 minute walk to beaches and great restaurants. A very tranquil, quiet area. What was not to like? Although there were younger couples than us, there were no rowdies. A lot of Portuguese and Andalucians staying. Breakfast was lovely- a very good choice and great variety!

Nothing...... well maybe, no water at breakfast.

It is an excellent location for a relaxing quiet holiday. The gardens and pool area are very well maintained. The staff - Alfonso, Pedro and Debora are all very pleasant and couldn't be more helpful.

Parking within the grounds is very limited and each space requires careful manoeuvring. On the other hand there is plenty of safe free parking nearby outside the grounds so it should not be a serious problem. We would have appreciated a kettle in our room.

From start to finish this has been our favourite holiday. Hotel is immaculate, staff are so helpful and friendly. Breakfast is just fantastic, great selection of food to suit everyone. You can also have breakfast outside by the pool. Pool and seating area are very nice. Bedroom has everything you need for a great nights sleep. Bed very comfy. Our bathroom had a bath which I love. Small balcony but enough to sit out and enjoy a drink at night.

Could do with more hangers in wardrobe. Only has one double socket in room. Sometimes our card would not open door, so we had to go to reception to reprogramme it again.

The staff was very helpful (specially when my wife was feeling sick - she had food poisoning). Daria was really funny, specially because she didn't know how to make a Caipirinha for my wife (maybe she needs a bit of training in how to make drinks). The location is very good, the hotel and rooms are clean and comfortable.

There was only 2 electric plugs away from the bed, so when we wanted to charge our mobiles and iPad, they had to stay on the floor away from the bed (room 105). The plugs should be near the bed or at least a small piece of furniture should be near the plugs so things are not on the floor while charging. The shower hasn't any soap dispenser/holder. I wasn't very happy when I discover that for a last minute reservation we could have stayed at the NH at the Marina for extra 20 €. At Alcaide we paid 575,21 € for 4 nights so I thought in the end, although a good experience, it was a bit overpriced.

Impeccably clean. Discrete and friendly staff. Modern spacious room with locally made toiletries. Simple but good breakfast. A really enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend :)
