Very relaxed with a bit of class

We didn’t realise our room was in a different building from the main hotel. Had to walk across the square to use all the hotel facilities , this was okay but did disappoint a little. Also Fri & Sat night there was live music in the square that went on till 2am you stood no chance of sleeping the first night we tried. The 2nd night we just stayed up & joined in. ( 2am is too late for me but we didn’t have a choice just check with them if anything going on in the square)It would have been nice to know in advance, how long it was going on. ….

On our way home, we commented on how great the breakfast was. It was totally fresh, and we watched it being made. It rates a 10/10 for freshness and nutrition. It absolutely tasted fantastic. It was a perfect stay and we have stayed in many different countries and accommodations. The staff greeted us immediately and were very attentive to our needs as we had a tiny dog with us. They even brought us a box of treats for our dog. The staff is really what made our stay so wonderful and should be acknowledged. We will definitely be staying there again and will be recommending it to friends.

Easy to find. A short 12-15 minute walk from the train station. Pousada can be found on the edge of Praça Marquêz de Pombal. It looks exactly like the front. They also have an auxiliary site across the plaza. Early morning breakfast is excellent and has some variety from day to day. The staff is very helpful throughout the day and night. Someone is always at the front desk. I was able to leave my luggage at the desk before checkin while I explored. There’s also Pickleballer for those actively inclined. However, it’s in a covered venue with 4 courts only 1.2 kilometers away. Ristorante Ernesto, just up the street facing the harbor, is excellent.

This property was a bit of a hit and miss for us, It’s a nice hotel, nice restaurant, it’s got a lot going however on arrival we had booked a superior room but when given our room, it was dark, cold, small, if u just step away from the edge of the bed, u would fall out onto the balcony, no kettle or coffee and then basically to top it all, the toilet (which was broken) and shower was on top of your bed, no door, it was very disappointing as I would hate to think what a normal Double room must look like, maybe this room is outside on the balcony? So I made a complaint and was given a much better room to which I would say was a superior room, so this unfortunately dampened our stay here as what is advertised is not given, after all this, generally our stay was pleasant but don’t think we will return sadly. It seems this management are very out of touch with there paying customers as what I observed. Something is amiss at this hotel sadly!

Excellent location in main square, close to river and jetty for ferry across to Spain. Plenty of nice restaurants nearby, as well as a good supermarket. Very pleasant and attentive staff, including the excellent very smiley chef who cooked us personal omelettes at breakfast. Very good breakfast, with Espresso machine. Huge 6ft bed, large bathroom, good views over the square. Nice little swimming pool downstairs, roof terrace upstairs with great views. If you`re wanting to sunbathe/swim, make sure you take the "Noddy" train to the lovely San Antonio beach.

Generally the hotel was of a very high standard, with great staff in an excellent location. Just a few negative: The fridge in the room was below par - very small, very lightweight and barely worked. It could not keep even a small bottle of water nice and cold. No kettle. The breakfast room is nice but has insufficient tables if the weather is not suitable for people to sit outside.

Staff - Lynkon was amazing what superb customer service - helped us with our luggage - gave us instructions on where to park our car - recommendation for restaurants The location was superb. Hotel had a lot of character. Easy to get to Ayemonte in Spain by ferry took about 10 mins - reminder shops close 12-3 some restaurants open suggest go in the morning or afternoon The breakfast was good - Plenty of choice Beds were comfortable Lovely pool area - roof top pool and one lower level open air Lots of relaxing seating to chill and read Locket patio off room with some seating but you can hear everything from other apartments

The bathrooms- not PRIVATE open bath in middle of room, no privacy - toilet does not have a fully closed door and the shower door is totally see thru

The location and standard of finish and cleanliness were excellent. Our room was really lovely, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom had a spacious shower. We loved having the small balcony that caught the morning sun that we could sit out on and we really loved that we could also step out from our room onto a roof terrace with sun beds/umbrella, it was brilliant.The extra luxurious touches of a small bottle of port and chocolate were really appreciated along with the water and small fridge. All staff were friendly and helpful, especially those working in the restaurant at breakfast.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Beautiful hotel right in the middle of the old town, comfortable, clean and friendly staff

Only hiccup was that the guy at check out tried to charge us for drinks on top of our breakfast that we didn’t have, but he didn’t even mention them, it was only when I went to pay with my card that I spotted the amount was too high, this was wrong and he then deducted it. But it was a bad ending to a great stay. The hotel has apologised and people can make mistakes but just watch your final bill.

Great location in the middle of town. Very accessible for a wheelchair user. Friendly staff.

The accessible room was perfect - great shower, spacious and comfortable. However, there was the main drainage pipe from the other rooms was clearly audible from early in the morning as others started to have showers. This is obviously a structural issue, and nothing that eat plugs could not mitigate. I guess a side-effect of being on the ground floor.

Really lovely and helpful staff, can't rate them too highly! Also excellent breakfast and very good overall facilities and services. Very pleasant location in centre of town and near harbour (we didn't go to the beach). Some lovely shops nearby, especially pottery and linen. Easily accessible from motorway.

No complaints about the hotel. But if you are looking for an authentic Portugese experience, this town, like many others on the coast, is very anglicised. Sadly the cafes and restuarants now give you chips, when once you would have varities of potatoes and/or rice, and meals are often plated like English meals.
