Located right in town and easy walk to everything and yet with amazing views. The staff are really friendly and super professional, made you feel welcome and at home. The hotel main areas and rooms were super clean was super clean and nicely modern style decor. There are so many places to eat, drink and shop right close by. Beautiful shops with with by Newfoundland atist and crafts folk. Plenty of opportunity to pickup up gifts and keepsakes. We stayed two night room #422 - looking along harbor into town and #424 - looking out to sea across the harbor. There is also a super food place to get breakfast and lovely areas inside and outside to sit and look at the harbor

Our stay was truly delightful—the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Perfectly situated right on the harbour, the hotel offers easy walking access to all of downtown’s highlights, including Jelly Bean Row and George Street, while still maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. Our room had a lovely harbour view, a plush, comfortable bed, and stylish modern decor. The evening happy hour was a wonderful touch, and we found ourselves wishing we’d stayed for dinner—the dishes looked absolutely delicious. Parking comes at a small additional cost but is very convenient given the central location. Overall, an excellent value and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I received a hand-written note upon our arrival. It is at one end of Water Street which is downtown St. John's. It has a great view of the harbour. The room is nicely appointed, with a smart panel for climate and lighting control. In the bathroom, it has a wooden bench and lots of hooks. The bath room hardware (faucets, shower heads, etc) are all high-end. Love the magnifier for doing make-up. Terre Cafe is a terrific little cafe serving high quality breakfast and lunch fare. Great cup of coffee.

The harbour view of our room is limited.

I first stayed at the ALT in Halifax, stayed at the St Johns branch in 2023, around Halloween, so when I had a chance to stay here again in October 2024, there was only one choice as far as I was concerned. I can't recommend these hotels enough, They're modern, stylish, nest and clean. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud, and they come with plenty of big floofy pillows. The St Johns hotel is within a few minutes walk of a bunch of bars and restaurants, a slightly longer walk of 5 or 10 minutes will take you to George Street and all the bars and restaurants you could possibly need.

A favourite as far as Alt hotels go in particular & I’ve stayed at quite a few over the years travelling. 🤍Adored the creative touches so much! The puffin glasswork in the room, the photo collage in the lobby, the tiny garden & picnic table outside. Although the room is very small the use of space is smart. Customer service was lovely.

Expensive for one night stay. Was travelling for a week + but limited our stay to one night here because too costly to do more nights. Restaurant was really nice, would have liked to see more seafood options though? & expensive also. Seeing a menu with more $ range when travelling is appreciated.

We didn’t like that parking was an extra fee especially considering that cost of the nightly high charge. Or that there was no fridge in our room. But all of this was corrected by the amazing staff. They actually brought us a little bar Fridge for our room within 15 minutes after we called the reception desk. Very impressive!

Excellent location and the staff could not have been more kind and helpful. Pet friendly rooms were not too much extra and came with food/water bowls and a lovely big bed. Check out time was later than most hotels (noon) which was very useful when juggling organisation.

Windows didn't open and air-conditioning only went down to 18 C, which meant I was warm when sleeping even though the outside temp was below zero.

Great location to walk around downtown St. John’s. Staff super nice and friendly. Fun lobby to hang out in.

Room was quite small. King size bed took up most of the space. The water view was essentially a massive boat parked outside the window. Not what I would consider a ‘view’. Windows on outside were not clean. No fridge in the room. This was their premium room at a premium price. So value for money for the room itself was not there.

The location made our trip memorable - right on the St. John’s Harbour and walking distance to all the great shops and restaurants in Historic downtown. We walked everywhere, using our hotel as a base - including to the Battery. We loved the little coffee shop in our lobby, great atmosphere, modern, very clean, and our bed linens and toiletries all smelled amazing. Free parking provided in their parkade.

The location in downtown St. John's is great. I liked the view from the room, the staff in the front desk very accommodating and friendly. The beds were more comfortable, than most hotels and the room very clean. It was also surprisingly quiet.

I found the shortage of space for two people and their luggage a bit challenging at times. Service at breakfast was not the best, with long waits and mixed up orders, maybe due to shortage of staff.
