Last minute booking after birthday plans to head to wales weren’t possible due to cancelled trains. Decided to head to Sherwood Forest instead for a lovely walk and found this hidden gem in the village. Really reasonable priced room, due to it being last minute there was only a twin available which was fine. Stones throw away from the forest and plenty of shops nearby. Also had a few drinks in the bar area during the afternoon, which was really lovely and fairly priced. The owners were really welcoming, there was a £50 holding fee for damages but I didn’t mind paying that as it was clearly explained it would be refunded straight away (and has been already). The room itself was fairly large and fine for what we needed - just a clean, comfortable place to rest for the night. There was a little bit of noise whilst the bar was open, but it was really early so not an issue. Room was a little warm during the night - but to be expected staying in the middle of summer. There was a fan which helped keep us cool.

Breakfast was fine and came out quickly and was nice and hot . Bed was comfy and the room nice and clean .

As we had booked 5 rooms we were disappointed that we all had to pay 20.00 to check in an hour early as we were arriving back after the wedding at gone midnight we felt we had no choice so we could get changed and also have a key to get in as apparently no night porter , a lot of money for nothing as I can imagine the rooms were all ready anyway bit of a rip off 100.00 between us and we only got checked in about 20past /half one and left at 1.55pm

The staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating, and I was thrilled to meet Zorrow, the most beautiful dog! The pub atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed our room. However, the bed was really uncomfortable, which was a bit disappointing. Aside from that, it was a lovely stay.

Aside from the uncomfortable bed, the only other downside was the lack of vegan options at breakfast. I had emailed before our stay to confirm that vegan options would be available and was assured there would be. However, nothing on the menu was labeled as vegan. The lovely staff did bring us some beans and tomatoes, but it would be great to see at least one dedicated vegan option on the menu.

We dropped our son off at Sheffield University and wanted a break on the way back to Essex. Oh, and we had entered the Sherwood Pines 10km race as well. The Forest Lodge was in a great location for us for access to the A1 and also Sherwood Pines for the race. There was parking available when we arrived. The proprietor met us and booked us in - a lovely, friendly gentleman. We also met Zorro, the 4yo doggo whom is so lovely. We hadn't pre-booked anywhere for dinner (on a Saturday!) but they booked us in and we had a most delicious Indian meal (out of a selection and English/pub/Indian). We stayed 2 nights - the cooked breakfast was lovely - only had that the 2nd morning as we were racing on the 1st morning. Room was great albeit slightly cold but slept very well, bed really comfortable, shower good, cleanliness great, and staff were fantastic. I didn't get the guy's name, but the chap who attended to us on both Sat and Sun night was a great guy. Thank-you! With our experience we would definitely stay here again.

We were taken with the hotel as soon as we arrived. Dawn was very helpful she explained everything very well and was most helpful and courteous. After settling into our room we ventured into the bar for food. We were served again by dawn. We plumped for the 3 course fathers day Sunday roast. Coming from the catering trade our selves. We were impressed with standard of service. Also the food was was amazing. The room was spotless and comfortable. The Breakfasts were excellent and our waitress was more than helpful.

We couldn't find fault at all.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fantastic Stay – Highly Recommend! This B&B exceeded all expectations! The room was beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and had a real luxury feel. The bed was super comfy, making for a great night’s sleep, and the bathroom was modern and well-equipped. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with plenty of choice and high-quality ingredients. The host was so welcoming and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I honestly couldn’t fault a thing—an exceptional stay from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Nothing to criticise

We stayed here for one night as we had an event at Sherwood Forest and the lodge was a 5 minute drive. The room was cosy, slightly cold but nothing an extra blanket didn’t sort. The food was amazing, I had the steak and ale pie and my partner had a steak. We also had tomato soup and chicken wings for starters and shared a chocolate brownie for dessert, all of it was fabulous. The staff were lovely - big thanks to the lady who worked the breakfast shift 26/01, she was so kind and catered to us. Zoro the Labrador was a lovely boy, I believe I spoke to the owner who explained dogs are allowed to stay overnight for only an extra £15 - which we was very happy to know!

Great homely place. Lovely room with great tea and coffee on hand. Food in the restaurant was tip top, including an ace breakfast. Staff were awesome. Mark was on hand all the time funny, polite and attentive. He's a great asset to the place. Thank you to Natalie, who really looked after me at breakfast. She made you feel like part of the family. The care and attention from the team are the biggest selling point of this place, but the location is great and the room was lovely. Perfect! Bringing my dog next time!

Very friendly staff, we felt welcome immediately! The room was spacious with good tea and coffee making facilities. We had dinner in the restaurant where the food was fabulous. An added bonus was they had a quiz night on the night we stayed which we both really enjoyed. Breakfast was lovely also. We had a really good stay and would stay again if we were in the area.Thank you to all the staff!

If I had to give a downside, it would be that the bathroom was a little dated but didn't affect our stay at all and it was clean.

lovely greeting from Dawn, great service in the bar/ restaurant from Emily. I had the most delicious Sunday lunch and my wife was well catered for with her complicated diet they really looked after her. Bedroom was really clean and spacious with a lovely tray with tea,coffee,hot chocolate etc. Sherwood forest is a 5 minute walk. We chose here to break up our journey on our travels and would definitely go back. it's an amazing traditional building.
