Very nice hotel and friendly staff. Extremely comfortable room, silent location, with easy access (by car) to multiple beaches and cities.

Breakfast buffet always missed something, small variety, coffee machine always having a problem, orange juice you have to order - not directly available. I would likely recommend the hotel to swap from buffet to breakfast delivered to each table (assortment of bread, cold cuts, fruits, juice and coffee).

It's a boutique hotel with grounds separated by stone walls and walks, which makes the layout interesting. There are many areas to relax, rooftop terrace, infinity pool with view of olive and orange groves, the breakfast and dining terrace. Not to forget the resident donkey who appears for breakfast. The breakfast is continental with lots of choice and real fresh orange juice and other juices, a coffee machine and everything you could ever want. We only stayed one night at the end of July but had the place nearly for ourselves. Fuseta and Olao are nearby if you want a choice of restaurants and bars. We ate in Moncarapacho at Antonio which we heartily recommend. The tranquility of the hotel is lovely.

The shower is a bathtub which can be a bit difficult to climb in and out of. The room was spacious enough but was making us feel a bit claustrophobic because of the heavy curtains.

Everything was superb! I had the most wonderful time at Solar Alvura. It was perfect in every way; from the welcoming Tiago provided, my beautiful room with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, the healthy and delicious food, the spa treatments ( thank you Pedro), the gardens, sitting by the beautiful fire in the evenings laughing and chatting. The pool area and terrace overlooking the orange grove are a delight too. Davio the donkey is a beautiful and friendly boy. I had so much fun and met the most wonderful people, those who worked at the hotel and guests. A wonderful, special haven with a very special Team headed up by Dr Eva. The facilites were amazing, the quality of materials and the bed was very comfortable! The room was also very spacious.

We didn’t like the hours for breakfast, starting at 8h30 was too late for us and the variety was poor. There was another couple complaining about the same. We tried to contact the property at night due to a location doubt and asking if it was possible to have the breakfast at 8h, but there was no answer. Therefore the weakest points are breakfast and communication.

As Solar Alvura is a health hotel the food is carefully planned and prepared to be healthy and tasty with lots of low calorie and low carb offers, although your calorie intake is lower than the normal you seldom feel hungry as it's three meals a day plus two snacks so there's plenty! The staff and the location are fantastic, the staff could not do enough for you and the Portuguese sunshine is always welcome of course! The hotel is top class with fantastic decor which makes you feel really relaxed with a fantastic feeling of serenity. Also there are activities such as yoga. aqua aerobics, indoor gym and guided walks, always something to do , plenty of downtime too to just relax with a nice herbal tea and your book ! I honestly loved it and would return in a heartbeat! About 20 minutes from Faro airport where you are collected and dropped off, ideal location, sitting on the terrace looking at the orange groves does wonders for all your health requirements ! As another guest said, Solar Alvura has a beautiful karma about it, I really wish Dr Ava every success in her dream, she has a great team around her and I think the hotels future will go from strength to strength ! Just one point, a little kettle in each room would be handy , nice to just kick back with a tea or coffee , reading and just relaxing! This was suggested to Dr Ava and in fairness she does take any suggestions onboard....

When you walk through the entrance you are not only greeted by a warm welcome and idyllic atmosphere but the best feeling like you are visiting friends and family. You could not find a better place to fill the need for peace and quiet, catch up on a good book poolside, or enjoy a great conversation with the newest stranger that you are now fast friends with. It is an easy walk or car ride to conveniences but you truly lack for nothing when you're at Solar. It is a spa experience with a personal touch. The foods are fresh and varied but still available to cater to the more particular pallet and don't forget the coffee and in house bar. If you want to get away then this is the place to go.

Not a thing but the stay being too short.

Making a 4* hotel just requires some amenities. But a 4* experience requires dedication for details and great and highly professional staff. All of which was achieved. Especially the service level of the staff rivaled 5* hotels I have visited. My compliments

Details for improvement would be some loose tiles at the pool and matching umbrellas (this felt out of character given the eye for detail for the rest of the building). But none of these took away from the experience.

The service was amazing. I contacted the team to let them know that I would reach only at 2 am, and they sent me detailed instruction for self check-in. Everything was perfect. The rooms was comfortable. The breakfast was limited menu but everything was fresh and tasty. The entire team was perfect and welcoming. Free parking on site too.

We didnt really have any pre-determined ideas about the hotel apart from that it was a bit remote and that some of the reviews were a little off putting but we loved every minute of our stay! The breakfasts were great and the staff were so helpful and friendly but the star of the show was Deevo! A beautiful character with a great heart :)

Where to begin - charming hotel with bags of character and incredible people. A true family business, Evan was such an amazing person. Emma was wonderful and Nothing was too much trouble for the team. We met Eva on the day we left and she was so kind and thoughtful also. Breakfast was always delicious and nutritious. We loved the late evening swims and they even made us a mini breakfast when we had to leave early for our flight. Highly recommend staying here. Can’t wait to go back for a yoga retreat!
