(I booked a 'Budget Double Room', but I am quite sure I stayed in a 'Deluxe Queen Room' which I am going to rate) Great location, just a 15-minute drive to the Duke Point ferry terminal. The place has been newly renovated with modern décor, and I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh it felt. The room was spotless, the bed very comfortable, and I especially appreciated the hardwood flooring, no old carpets or odd smells, everything felt new and clean. Highly recommended! After arriving late, I didn’t feel like driving anywhere for dinner, and the adjacent MGM restaurant was perfect, just steps away, serving both a delicious dinner and a great breakfast the next morning. The shower had excellent water pressure.

Not a complaint, more as an info to fellow travellers: The location is right on Highway 1, which does mean noticeable traffic noise. But that’s to be expected with motels designed for easy highway access.

The suite we stayed in looked newly renovated. It was very clean and comfortable. The AC was greatly appreciated on a hot evening, and there was lots of space in the room. The staff was wonderful too!

Unfortunately the area around the motel was rough; we couldn’t believe the number of unhoused/vulnerable people hanging around on the street and the amount of open needle use we saw. This is not the fault of the motel in any way, but it is worth noting especially for those traveling with children or wanting to walk around for meals etc. Remember to remove all valuables from your vehicle and set your car alarm before turning in for the night and you’ll be fine.

The gentleman at the front desk was super friendly and welcoming. He offered suggestions for things to see in the area, which I appreciated very much! Also, an accommodation "away from home" finally got it right with regard to outlets and charger ports! It seems there are NEVER enough in most hotel rooms. KUDOS to this place for making so many available. Finally - super clean, ultra white, bed linens, towels, etc.! There is nothing worse than checking in to a hotel with "white" linens and towels, that are instead, a dingy yellow! Yours were GREAT! MUCH APPRECIATED!

Room was clean as well as bathroom. 2 Beds were choices for 1 person. Comfortable and clean. Lots of parking and yes, a restaurant on property. Private and quiet neighbors that night. Toiletries and clean towels are so nice to find after a road trip. Keep up the good work.

Being a critical traveler the only thing I questioned was a $200 deposit for a short stay for 1 person. Otherwise, I could find no faults with this Highway 1 Motel. If your room is on second floor there is no elevator. I will book again when I have to stay overnight in Nanaimo.

The rooms were very large and spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The management very welcoming and personable. The beds and pillows very comfortable and room temperature just fine. There was a very large restaurant right next door which we used a couple of times. Staff and food were fine.

As it was located in town on a road that was also a part of the TransCanada Highway we at times could hear a lot of traffic, especially at night. Also a few blocks away, while walking to the downtown area, we had to walk by homeless people preparing drugs huddles together with their carts right on the sidewalk. After that we would cross to the other side of the street but a few were there too.

Surprisingly quiet for location, pretty inside for the price, live edge table and big TV were great. Good size fridge and there is a microwave. Close to a few restaurants - I went to Luna down Victoria and it was excellent.

Van Houten coffee (blechh). Not enough hot water for bath, and hand/body soap bar so dry I couldn’t really use it. Sketchy part of town, made the mistake of walking down Victoria - fire truck and ambulances at the Recovery Centre. Totally fine in daylight, and no judgement for people struggling with addiction but as a non-binary person I took Nicol back as there was more traffic, but needed to cross four lanes without a crosswalk to take the eastern sidewalk past the small tent city and then cross back at the next set of lights.

Beautifully decor and very clean. Comfortable beds. Centrally located and parking in front of room. Wonderful restaurant next door was great, however closed Monday and Tuesday or we would have returned more often.

Staff could have mentioned the 10% off at the MGM restaurant next door. The extra charge for coffee pods when you are staying more than one night. There were 4 provided the first day, but when you are there for 4 days, consideration should be made.

The room was good value for the price. Clean and the beds were the proper size (Not too big and two as we needed) The Location was convenient for access travelling to/from and dining options - but needed to use car. [ see next ] Parking was direcly adjacent to the room.

The nearby restaurant - MGM - was a disapointment. They were closed the morning of our departure - so no breakfast there. The day of our arrival was the Sunday of the "Turkey Day" weekend, the service was less than stellar. [ Iqnored for 15 minutes on entry, iqnored for a further 10 minutes after being seated, finally got menus and water some time after that, generally service slow while others were waited on. etc.]

The bed was awesome for my liking…soft and I slept so soundly. There’s perfect space for two people with 2 double beds! I loved having a mini fridge and microwave!!! There is AC if needed. The location was perfect for a short walk to the waterfront and there is a shell gas station kitty corner to the motel, so you can easily grab snacks and or gas. The front concierge at the accommodation was very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

The room was lovely and spacious. The king bed was huge and very comfty!! Tv worked well and we enjoyed watching it in bed. Bathroom was clean, well stoked, spacious and warm. Good to have a fridge. Very close to a convenience store, gas pump and public transport. Restaurant next door is great value and very yummy

There was no remote for the aircon unit and possibly wasn't working at this time. But was not and issue at all. Otherwise all was good
