We arrived during atrocious wet windy weather but Reception has covered parking and we were able to reverse up to our unit entry door which meant that we were able to unload our suitcases and check in completely in the dry. That was a huge plus in that weather. Room was spacious clean and comfortable.

TVs are so complicated these days we had to ask a young lady at reception to change ours to TV1 which she did very quickly.Perhaps reception could ask oldies like us if help is needed with the TV at check in.

Restaurant on site did REALLY nice meals, plenty of food, good selection, good price and so easy being right there too. Comfortable rooms, VERY CLEAN, great staff, nothing too much of a problem. Very highly recommended.

Lack of initial hot water sometimes needs bringing to their attention. This second stay was a little better but still not quite hot enough until staff sorted it (different room this time) Noisy group of younger men (? sports team or similar) waking me two mornings, walking past talking loudly, having fun and laughing - but very minor "problem"

Clean big room big shower/toilet Sky TV comfortable nice double bed We even ordered dinner from there restaurant which was delivered. Beautiful meal

The location its a beautiful spot ..BUT the road is noisy with trucks and behind us was a truck depot that was busy as well.. I didn't have a great sleep at all... apart from the noise it is a great motel to stay at

The location, centrality and ease of access

After our first night I asked for housekeeping nit to make up our room. This was agreed to by the housekeeper. We had made the beds, done the dishes and exchanged used towels for clean ones and got a few extra hot chocolates. Unfortunately when we got back from our days outings the room had been made over, personal items had been moved and the extra hot chocolates had been removed. My mother only drinks hot chocolate so that was extremely disappointing.

THE WHOLE WEEKEND AT CAPTAIN COOKS MOTOR LODGE WAS AWESOME BUYING A MEAL AT CAPTAIN COOKS WAS NICE I COULDN'T FINISHED IT FIRST TIME IN 12MONTHS FOR ME WAS WATCHING TV WHEN YOUR WORKING 12HOUR SHIFTS YOU HAVEN'T GOT TIME FOR TV I'M DIFFERENTLY COMING BACK MUCH LOVE .

THE ONLY THING THAT WAS MISSING I THORT FOR ME WAS A KITCHEN FOR COOKING FOR AFTER HOURS INSTEAD OF BUYING OUT

I liked how clean and open our rooms were, and how accessible it was to the beach and town. Having the train track right behind us was was also a great treat for my son. was great. the bathroom was roomy and the water temp and pressure were just right

the one thing i didn't like was having to fill the jug from bathroom sink, people not parking thinking about others and just randomly parking. would have been nice to have the on site restaurant open,

Staff were friendly, rooms were really nice and roomy beds were comfy, the couches were bit small an uncomfortable otherwise overall loved everything that was available during our stay.. My brother was in room next to us, he said the beds were comfortable an we agreed the Motel was lovey.

The couches in lounge are small an uncomfortable.

Have always booked at Captain Cook out of any motor lodge in Gisborne this place has been the go to for me and all my family that I have brought along on my journey to Gisborne and by far is the best place to stay the staff are so lovely here 💛💚💛 and is close to town and the beach ⛱️

Over the pass 5 in a half years I have always chosen Captain Cook to come and stay just a lovely atmosphere thank you Captain Cook motor lodge for having me and my mokos and family yous always make us feel welcome everytime so again thank you and see yous again soon 💛💜💛

Although location is quite central it's quiet, Well sheltered easy to access. Simple clean facilities. Loved that there's a bathtub with the room!!! Electric blankets already on the beds awesome. Beach is a lovely wander up the footpath. The restaurant would've been nice to sit in if we weren't already so busy.

No complaint

Bed was comfy and ensuite bathroom was great and mobility friendly (no step up into the shower). Excellent water pressure in the shower. Loads of available parking. Location just a block from the beach and close to town.

Lack of places to put bags so they had to stay on the floor - no real bench to put things on. No real kitchenette. Extreme road noise - must be on the main route to the port for trucks, which seemed to run most of the night.
