The staff was exceptional. Jenny was very helpful and even had time to show me the renovations that is going around there. As this is my 5th year staying @hillsideboutique ! Can't wait to see the finished place.

There wasn't really too much not to like staying there. Although renovations was going on, the place remained clean and pleasant. The pool , when we went swimming, wasn't too sparkling clean like we've been used to and there were little frogs or toad in the pool 😬, and pool lights never came on. Will we go back ....... YES , we will. See them July 2026.

The room and furnishings were nice, comfortable chairs, great bed with soft sheets and extra blanket and pillows. Balcony ok. Nice to have a safe. Keurig worked intermittently, but excellent complimentary coffee and tea in lobby. No glassware or real mugs as other boutique hotels have. No shower gel when we arrived but they brought some small tubes. Wall mount despensors not replenished. No shower cap, usual box amenities in bathroom. Towels, washcloths, hand towels were clean but frayed and needed replacing. Nice terry robes. Small older mini- fridge. OK microwave. Place has great potential with some minor changes. Needed more attention to detail when replenishing towels, soap, mid stay refresh. Great bakery in town called Haby's close by. (Please review what is expected for a boutique hotel and it will help get 5 star reviews.) Seemed understaffed, especially the restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff was friendly. Food was OK. Bar not stocked with selections of sparkling water like Pellegrino which is expected for boutique hotels. We wanted to give a higher rating but wanted to set proper expectations for others. We might return if in the area.

Jenny at the front desk was fantastic. She had so much helpful information what to see and where to eat in Castroville and is simply a wonderful human being. The pool was unfortunately closed due to the storm, but Jenny allowed us to hang out on the cabanas, which was very much appreciated. The pool area offers a very stunning view of the hill country and was part of the reason we selected the hotel.

It's unfortunate that the Restaurant at the hotel only opens on special occasions (wedding venue). Assuming they did not have enough daily customers. It would be helpful if the dining pictures would be taken off and that the closure would have been mentioned online, as this was a bit misleading when booking this hotel. Overall it's a bit overpriced and the pictures of the rooms look more fancy online than they are; but it is a very cute location in general.

Chris was our check in agent, extremely nice guy that went above and beyond to make my family and I feel comfortable. Gave us wonderful tips, was very willing to help with all my questions. Once we made it to the room we were blown away by the nice furniture and decor in the room. We took advantage of the pool, and pictures on website don’t do it justice for just how beautiful it truly is. The views from pool area and our room really made it that much more special. We will definitely be back and look forward to make it a tradition from here on out to stay at Hillside!

No restaurant, but I knew that going in so not surprised by it. But would have been the cherry on top, even tho it really didn’t even need it. Our entire stay was above our expectations!

The restaurant and bar are not open yet, but the facility is GORGEOUS! Beautifully decorated and the views are pretty. The rooms were spacious, clean and well designed. I was very comfortable during my stay and really appreciated the convenient location. I would book again!

I wish there had been a continental breakfast. Also, I called the office a few times and the phone rang and rang. The staff did reply fast to text messages.

Such a cute boutique hotel. The staff accommodated my request for a quieter room since I would be working from the hotel. Very pet friendly, my pup loves the balcony attached to the room. The Barrel Room had a great happy hour and the patio accommodated my pup. We enjoyed the spa as a Mother’s Day treat. All staff were very pleasant and wonderful.

Nice old building-- but very well updated decor. had a nice vibe to it. A Beautiful pool located out back--overlooking San Antonio from the hill it is located on. We stayed for the eclipse. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Clean rooms with lg king beds. quiet as well! mini kitchenette was nice as well as a keurig machine. wish they had hot cocoa tho s we don't drink coffee. NICE plush towels for a change from most places I am used to staying.

Price for Eclipse stay didn't have to double. :(

Location is great and the staff was wonderful. Allowed us to check in a little early because we were with a wedding party.

Honestly just not worth what we paid. The TV and direct-tv barely worked and we kept having to restart the box. Beds and sheets were comfortable but for more than $200 a night you might expect softer sheets and towels. Also no breakfast some the bistro is under construction unless you pay out of pocket. Just felt more like you paid "boutique" price but not necessarily boutique feel. Still a great stay tho. Beautiful area.

Liked location. Was convenient to where we were visiting. Liked that owners are trying to upgrade the property.

Room was way too dark. Not enough lighting in room. Husband and I are both 65 - that may make a difference. Room was cold and heat was not turned on yet. Had to use stairs to get to all of the rooms-even those on first floor.

The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. It was obvious that it is well cared for.

For the price that we paid for the hotel, it should’ve came at least one meal and more cream and sugar for the coffee. We had to run to McDonald’s for breakfast and coffee. The telephone was not working in the room and for whatever reason we could not reach the landline through our cell service. Then.
