A hidden gem with wonderful staff. It is a wonderful place to watch the sun rise and set. I enjoyed walking along the beach in the early morning before heading out for breakfast. Bob, at the front desk, was very friendly. So, too, was the housekeeper. All in all, I enjoyed my stay, and I plan to visit again.

I had a few hiccups where my room card would just not swipe. Bob was quite apologetic and did the necessary running around to get it resolved in a timely manner 👏 Recommend: Provide courtesy tea bags along with the coffee to give guests the option👌🏾

the location was good to do New York and Vermont attractions. The staff was helpful. The beach was right there making for a good stay. I would recommend for the average traveler.

The room was supposedly handicapped room. There was a ramp to the door but then a drop off on the other side making it hard for a wheelchair. The bathroom had a grab bar but my wife has a hard time to pull herself up. In the hotel pictures there is a bath seat shown but there was none available when I asked for one, The staff said they would try to find one.

It was clean, comfortable and quiet. The room has older furniture but that doesn’t bother me. I found the bed very much to my liking. also found staff always asking if everything was good and did I need anything.

The mirror in the bathroom was to high, I’m 5’6 and had to stand on my toes at times.

My kids and I are delighted to have discovered Golden Gate Lodging. We will definitely go back. Our room was at the end of the building, motel style-so an outside door, I parked the car right in front of the unit. The small, private beach on Lake Champlain was right next to the room. The room was recently refurbished with new carpet, a fresh paint job and a new bathroom. The beds were comfortable and it was very quiet. The room had a window a/c unit which some people may find too loud, but which we don't mind because it blocks out other noise. When we arrived there was a musty smell, this is very normal for a motel right on the water. We opened the window which had a mosquito screen and turned the a/c on full blast. In a few minutes, the smell was gone and the room temperature was comfortable. The motel thoughtfully provides a fresh water bin next to the beach to rinse the sand off our feet. The room also had a fridge with a freezer and a microwave.

Some suggestions: a door mat at the door to wipe your feet and a USB charging port.

The room and beds were very comfortable. Room was very clean and the property has an amazing view of the lake. Being next to McDonald's made breakfast easy for my kiddo. Staff was friendly and overall our stay was comfortable. Site addressed and blacked out windows in room doors as was mentioned in another review. Wifi was good. Location was accessible to things we wanted to do and quiet at night.

We were disappointed by the condition of the beach. After walking it the first night, we were not comfortable swimming in it. We found, but admittedly didn't report, a used adult diaper and capped needle on the beach floating at the edge of the water. It remained there throughout our stay. There were also tons of grass clippings and other trash on the beach. It probably would have been fine to just sit and look at the water though. It was initially why we chose this hotel, so it definitely felt like a negative. It would be great for the lodging to have a system in place for regular beach maintenance particularly given itslocation within Plattsburgh. Room was partially renovated, but could use some attention to detail in the condition of the molding, drywall, and painting skill.

Check in clerk responded promptly after hours and was courteous. Room was heated comfortably upon occupancy. Cable television was simple to use, bedding was comfortable. Small kitchen and cookware enabled me to prepare hot water for my french press coffee maker. Liked the lake front location. Easy access from interstate.

No complaints.

The private beach, and I enjoyed the 2 bed room very spacious and quiet. Half of the motel is tenants so it was very quiet and easy to get around Plattsburgh. The manager was awesome went above and beyond to help his customers. I will stay again

No free breakfast

The location was amazing, the high open beam ceilings were amazing! New bed, very clean and staff always on site! Very quite, looked like the rooms had just been re-done. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We arrived early and our rooms were not ready but they got us checked in as we had a wedding to attend.

The toilet was very close to the wall and the mirror was not placed for anyone on the shorter side. The A/c was older and worked but not overly well. The bed was brand new however very soft.

The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable the lake view was very nice and I enjoyed the balcony

It could use more parking, and some maintenance. Our toilet needed to be bolted down better and the outside of the building could really use some paint.

The management was so welcoming. He was very helpful and kind with getting me settled in. He was also as equally as helpful during check out. He made the experience even more enjoyable. I felt safe there even though I was traveling alone.
