The hotel is very cozy, clean, with beautiful views, and beautiful artwork. Location is also excellent - so close to the main street, with a fantastic restaurant next door (also with spectacular views). They also provided an impressive and very helpful list of recommendations for hiking trails, shopping, cultural excursions, restaurants.

The only not-so-hot thing was that he bed was not very comfortable, the base was a little unstable. But it's Ok, we were there for just 3 days, it was not a big problem! Other than that one tiny thing, we truly enjoyed everything else about the Harwood Hill Motel!

The Proprietor Martha responded to every request we made before we came and during our stay. The desk clerk ( also known as resident artist) was helpful in masking suggestions about where to eat and what to do in the area. The establishment displayed a lot of art sculptures and framed art work for sale. (We purchased a set of two drawings for our home). Property is well cared for and a little off the beaten path providing quiet. Breakfast was simply served in a separate unheated facility so guests could either take food back to their rooms or sit at tables depending upon weather conditions. Good coffee, conversation and friendly guests made for an exceptional three day-two night stay. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I didn't know how to properly use the remote for the heat/air flow in the room and was unaware that the proprietor would be available to help after hours. So was a little cold the first night. All was rectifies the next morning and everything was great from that moment on.

Fresh fruit, yogurt options, the coffee I expected little from what I saw in the reviews. Breakfast actually exceeded my expectations. While breakfast was served in a converted garage, that did nothing to detract from the overall quality and selection. A large table with chairs enables guests to eat together, much like a B&B. For someone like me who prefers B&B's that was a plus.

The room was a bit Spartan, and a reminder that this was, after all, a motel. That said, the bed was comfortable and the linens and towels were anything but motel quality. They were more B&B quality.

Very clean and unique

Front desk staff was never at the desk and the door to the office is always locked, even during listed office hours. When I checked in I had to use the phone available to get someone to come let me in and check in. When I checked out right at 11 no one was there and no one answered the phone. I hadn’t set up easy/drop off check out so this was concerning to me to just leave my key. Also if I had needed anything at some point I’m not sure who would have been around to assist. The one time I spoke to someone they were very nice, I’ve just never had an experience like this before so I thought it was something to point out.

Friendly and Warms Hospitality from the Host to Welcome me. The room is spacious complete with fridge and microwave. TV with excellent Cable Channel to select. Breakfasts and hot beverages add up to a good morning meals. Room clean and winter conditions temperature set to comfortable stay. Bed is awesome both comfortable and keeps me warms throughout the winter nights. I’ll definitely love to revisit Bennington Vermont and stay at Harwood Hills Motel again. Thank you and keep up with the good quality Motel. PS: Parking very convenient just outside your room door and plenty of restaurants nearby.

Location was great, especially since we had planned on going to the nearby Robert Frost Stone House Museum. It was only a little more than a mile up the road! It was also very quiet and peaceful, on a rural road away from any traffic noise, businesses, etc., yet still close to Bennington, VT.

The mattress was a little soft for what we use at home but wasn't uncomfortable. Everything else was fine with no problems or complaints.

Great value for money. Could have stayed in a nearby Hampton, certainly newer. This is an older motel that has been carefully restored and decorated thoughtfully. Room and bedding were comfortable heat and a/c comfortable. Great staff and interesting artwork around the property (there is an artist in residence). If you are OK with funky I'd highly recommend it.

A bit of road noise, bring a sound machine.

We were pleasantly surprised at how well appointed the room was. The grounds were festooned with sculptures produced by the owners and several pieces of art were for sale. It was walking distance to a very good restaurant that was recommended by one of the owners.

We didn't find anything wrong with the accommodations. We even got early check-in, and one of the owners double-checked cleanliness of the room before we went in to ensure it was ready early. No issues at all.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly.

The outside grounds are somewhat overgrown. The building are old with lots small maintenance items that could be improved. For some, that adds to the "charm" of the place, for others it could be a negative. I WOULD NOT LET THESE COMMENTS PREVENT ME FROM CHOOSING TO STAY THERE.

Nice clean, newly renovated rooms, nice accommodations and extra amenities (firepit, BBQ stand, badminton net).We had a small issue with TV not working, was quickly addressed and fixed by staff. Staff was very nice, friendly and responsive. Stopped here as a halfway point driving home from Maine, will definitely do again.
