We stayed at the Au Chambres du Banneret in Jan 2025 for 1 night as part of our road trip through Switzerland. The accommodation is basically a chambre d'hotes with key self-service (you receive the details via whatapp, there is a key board in the second floor, code for opening the key board and how to release the key for the room are provided in a WhatsApp message). We booked the accommodation spontaneously, basically 1 hour before our arrival. Despite this short notice we received the message with all the details within 40mins. The building seems to be a former guest house, with a bar in the basement, an (excellent) restaurant in the first floor, and several individual rooms in the 2nd and 3rd floor. The bar, the restaurant and the chambre d'hotes are completely separate, so do not bother asking there in case you have a question or need help, instead you have to send a message via whatsapp. But replies are very fast. The rooms are nicely renovated. Not big but functional and nice style (our room even had an old medieval mural at the wall protected by a glass plate! very nice!). Despite the small size the room even had a small cooking corner with a sink, cooking plate, microwave, tea boiler and a capsule coffee machine. The accommodation is very central in the downtown pedestrian zone: the Chateau, restaurants, the lake side are all in easy walking distance. No parking or access by car. Hint: we parked in rue de l'Evole. The blue parking zone starts from the corner Rue de l'Oriette (free parking in the night). Beware: As it is an old building the accommodation has no lift, instead you have carry your luggage up the small stairs, but absolutely ok if you travel light or have no problems with getting your luggage up. As a positive surprise: at least when we traveled- we received from the accommodation the Neuchâtel Tourist card, which gives free access to museums and public transport!

nothing really (apart from the experience that with 1 day in Neuchâtel our stay was definitely too short. ;-). Will come back.

The location is great! The room is not big but warm (we were in winter) and cozy. The bed is comfy. The kitchenette has everything (except the bottle opener). The TV is big. You contact the personnel only via messages. They send you all the instructions how to get to the room and a card to use public transport and museums free (not all museums accept it though, we had to pay 50% in the Roman museum). The 1st Sunday of the month is when you visit nearly all museums in Switzerland free of charge.

The smell of meatburgers from a restaurant downstairs. And of course you must keep in mind, there is no parking near the hotel. You will have to leave your car in the parkhouse (which is not very far away, just 300m), but you have to pay about CHF 24. Also you must be prepared to climb to the 3rd floor, there is no elevator in this old building.

A really characterful room on the top floor of an historic building in the centre of the historic part of town. Excellent catering facilities within the room and good shower etc. A high quality fan (with quiet 'night-time' setting) was supplied for warm nights. Excellent communication with owner, who supplied the town's 'Tourist card' giving many concessions, including a wonderful cruise on Lake Neuchatel, which we very much enjoyed. Superb central location.

There were 56 steps up to the room, so perhaps not for those to whom this would be a problem – but not a real problem for most people.

Excellent location, easy to find, nice room - sizewise and very nicely decorated, bed was comfy. You have your own kitchenette, coffee machine and a microwave, so you can cook yourself a proper meal if you prefer that. The owners are very polite and helpful.

Too noisy, I couldn't sleep half of the night because of the very loud music coming from the backyard - sounded like a restaurant with live music. I absolutely loved the place and facilities, but the late evening noise was a problem for me

The character of the suite was exceptional. The location was superb. The shower was very good, toilet flushed well and bathroom was large. The view was excellent down into the square and towards the fountains.

The layout of the furniture was awful. This could be done so much better! The bar takes up a fair bit of space, and is also poorly laid out. Fortunately we weren't using this for other than sleeping, but this place could be SO much nicer if a bit more thought went into these areas.

A fabulous bedroom , beds ,bar / kitchette dinning table area, large TV, wifi, a beautiful shower. The hotel is very central, near the shops, fabulous crepe cafe, a short distance from the lake,.When staying in the hotel we all received a book of tourist tickets. This was a lovely touch & enabled the family to partake in more local attractions. Boat trips, museums etc.

Everything was great. We didn't meet anyone, to thank them as it was self service to checking and out. However everything was clearly communicated via email.

The room is very cozy and nice. The bed is very comfy. A big flat digital TV was a nice bonus! The room is also equipped with a small kitchenette, coffee machine (with coffee capsules), kettle (and tea), and all necessary cooking supplies. Clean bathroom with great shower! The location is excellent -- in the city center and close to nice restaurants. The staff is very nice and promptly responsive. They reply within minutes and provided me with all the info and things I asked for. They even left me coupons to enjoy the city. I had a great stay -- recommended!

The room was surprisingly modern, with a small apartment-like kitchenette and shower stall but with preserved ceiling beams and quaint flooring. It’s well placed in the centre of town, accessible to the bus stop and other amenities.

This cannot be helped, but the narrow and winding stairs to our room was a little challenging with a large suitcase. Do not expect any lifts as this is a historical area. The way to the place is a cobblestone path, very much like the old days but can be detrimental to suitcase wheels.

An attractive location, in an historic building. The small kitchen area was useful, and there were plenty ofcrockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.

The stairs were very windy, which made carrying a suitcase to and from the top floor hard work. This is not a complaint, just something that needs to be borne in mind.

It’s an amazing place that you can feel the beauty of Neuchâtel in its natural surroundings. I wish to always stay at this place. Inside you can find the frescoes on the wall but also very comfortable bed and all the modern facilities. Recommend from the bottom of my heart ❤️
