We chose this place as it was difficult to find places with parking in the centre of Rennes. We loved it. Our room was newly renovated and I would say it's Scandi style decor and it was a beautiful room, very clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was excellent. It's owned and run by a young couple - we didn't meet the husband but the wife Morgane was lovely, so welcoming and efficient. We drove into the centre of Rennes for the day which took about 12-15 minutes and parking in a central car park was easy. We really liked the city. So we would highly recommend staying at KastellRen.

Morgane was delightful on arrival and responsive throughout. The wonderful breakfast spread was comprehensive and tempted me to eat way more than I normally would! It was quite nice to be a little way outside the town of Rennes, as the town was very full of tourists when we went to eat there, so I can imagine it could be noisy at night, which it certainly wasn't here at all, despite the proximity of a major road, as others have said. Al in all, a perfect stopover on our way down to the South of France.

Only one small matter, my shower, after my wife had a long one before me, went cold halfway through (so it was a bit more refreshing than intended!) but even then, Morgane looked into it immediately after I mentioned it, as she was understandably concerned and wanted to make this relatively new plumbing was working as expected.

The welcome and friendliness of Morgane, the hostess, was outstanding. I felt so comfortable at this accommodation right from the start and it was a great feeling!

The room was very hot during the third night of my stay, and there was only one small window. If opened, there would be a lot of traffic noise. Breakfasts were fine but there was very little protein provided - eg, no eggs, no meat, no fish I also would have thought my waste basket would be removed daily during the three nights I spent there.

Exceptional, very handy location to main through route, yet Exceptionally quiet in room. Very clean modern facilities in an old building. Good secure off road biking for my motorbike. Self service breakfast with some delicious freshly made crepes and brioche. Nice, quiet self contained and very comfy bed to recover from a days riding before the final hop to the ferry at St Malo. Lovely host who spoke excellent English to make up for my very limited French vocabulary. Would definitely stay there again. merci beaucoup pour votre hospitalité

Nothing to dislike

The accommodation is very well decorated and it's very quiet (even though the motorway is nearby but you can't hear the traffic). Driving to Rennes town centre is relatively easy. The owner is very friendly and helpful. She recommended us places to eat and where to park easily in Rennes. The room is very big and very comfortable. Everything was very clean and spotless. Breakfast was included and it was really good. There is a small kitchen and dining room which can be utilised.

Beautiful, comfortable bed and bedding, tea and coffee in room, very clean everywhere, good water pressure in in nice bathroom, great breakfast, private parking, cute garden with outside seating (we had a little picnic when we arrived). Host was so nice! I would definitely recommend staying here.

Unfortunately it was Bastille day and a restaurant nearby was closed. Food was available on site but very limited choice. Found an open restaurant a little further away and had good meal.

Lovely welcome from Morgane, who also kindly provided us with some milk for a very needed cup of tea. The Breakfast was great with as much as you wanted buffet.

The location means there is constant road noise from the Rennes ring road

Very nice chateau with clean and spacious rooms! Initially we were worried because the road is really close but there was absolutely no noise in the rooms. The breakfast was very good!

Helpful and attentive host. Secure territory and private car park. Modern decor in the renovated mansion. Comfortable good size bed and good quality bedding. Modern shower room with toiletries. Good breakfast with home set yohurts and fresh pasties served by Morgane. 10 min walk to the bus stop Maltièrs, near Castorama. We travelled to the guest house with a car, and then it was pleasant to find Bus route C6 runs every 10 min to the city centre, bus stop Republique; ticket costs 1.50 euro pp.
