The man at the reception was very nice and friendly.

Elevator is a bit small.

First, we stayed in Rennes to explore the lovely old town and churches, but mostly as a base for daytrips around the area (recommend Vitre!). We booked a small no frill room (there are bigger and better rooms higher in the hotel), but this was perfect for the little time we spent in it. Good bathroom, with bath/shower. Great bed, very comfortable. The room and bath were exceptionally clean. It's located in a broad in a small plaza of brasseries (from a crepery to excellent Italian) just across the plaza from the lovely train station. The train station is on attractive, with outdoor sculpture and several entrances. The Metro is steps from the door. We've never stayed anywhere with better access to public transportation. The little plaza of restaurants is loaded with outside tables, so it's great people watching, with traffic from both the trains and metro. There is also a variety of restaurants up the main street near the hotel, most with outside tables. It's about ten to fifteen minutes walking to the center of the old town, but easy metro. There's also a small clean laundromat about 8 minutes from the door, (takes credit card, soap included). There's a breakfast room and nice dinner restaurant attached. Windows facing the plaza action. Great front office staff and even the housekeepers were very nice to us. A GREAT local mapcard at the front desk. And last....great price! We usually stay in 4 stars, but the reviews were so good, we gave it a shot. Again, we booked a small plain room, which we got for a great price. This hotel is an excellent value!

Hmmm..... The only thing we didn't like was stepping up and over the high sides of the tub to get to shower. There may be other bathroom configurations. It didn't turn out to be a problem, but it's a consideration. We stayed at the 4 star Melia Hotel when we returned to Paris and it was the same situation, so it's pretty common.

The location opposite the train station was perfect for us arriving late by train and then able to leave our bags on our last day before catching the train later. The hotel was very good - it's not a top of the range hotel but it's very good for a basic hotel and at a decent price. The beds are super comfy, the shower was good and we had everything we needed for a short stay. There is no air conditioning (which might be problematic in the height of summer but there were fans in each room) and the lift was very small and only for 2 people. We didn't take the breakfast because at 13 euros per person for products from the bakery next door, instead we went next door and bought a pain au chocolat for 1,50 euros ;-) So not perfect but perfectly good for what we paid and what we got!

The smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night, but there was little direction from staff.

Convenient, warm, clean. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Perfect to take the bus from the station to Mont Saint Michel.

The shower could have been better

Looked for an overnight stay in Rennes while traveling by train. This place fitted the bill perfectly. Hospitable staff, clean room, really close to the station so I didn't have to drag the luggage around. Having a fan in the room was a pleasant addition.

Room is a bit on the smaller side. For solo stay for one night it was ok, but otherwise I could see it a bit cramped. It takes a bit of a walk to get to the city center. Bathroom is somewhat rundown condition.

The staffs are helpful

The staff were outstanding and knowledgeable , this helps with the unexpected problems which inevitably suddenly appear. Location hard to fault except for street noise, again inevitable in such an area.Close to train/bus stations, close to attractions and shops. Room clean and facilities such as shower also good.

Afraid although the location is great there is inevitably noise late and again early, otherwise this score would be 10
