You can tell these lodges have been fitted with high quality fixtures and fittings. Lodge was extremely spacious, and comfortable - both sofa and bed. Temperature was perfect in the lodge with pre set heating. Huge en suite and seperate family bathroom. Ash lodge had great secure fencing around the lodge good enough to see all around but provided privacy when sitting out or if using hot tub.Friendly helpful housekeeper. Although still cleaning when we arrived we were able to use toilet, unpack and put food in fridge then take our dog for quick walk, which would have been our usual routine. On return the housekeeper was helpful, describing good local eateries, takeaways and walks. Apologies for not completing on time. boiler so need to be aware hot water not instant, but once run was hot enough and plenty of it. Good value for money. Would definitely return.
Sadly, overtime wear and tear is starting to show so Lodges could do with a refresh. More concerning was the misuse by previous guests. ( which the owner cannot immediately address) on our arrival it was evident that the previous guests had reversed ? Into the lodge causing external damage and for some reason forcibly removed the glass shower partition over the bath. All of which the housekeeper was aware. Non of which spoilt our enjoyment but impacted quality of the lodge.

The ability to book several chalets close to each other for an extended family weekend away worked well for us. The fact that two of the chalets had enclosed outdoor space worked well for keeping our dogs safe. There was a canal within walking distance that we were able to go for walks along. It was only a 10-15 minute drive to Macclesfield train station which was helpful as some of our group came by train. Each chalet could accommodate up to 6 people in three bedrooms.
There were no recycling bins at this site which was a shame. There is a train line very near by and you can hear the trains - this wasn’t a problem for us. The water in the bathrooms drained very slowly.

I was a little bit nervous on the run up to our stay at Shellow Lane Lodges because I'd seen a couple of negative reviews, and we had a large group staying across 2 lodges for a special occasion. However I have to say that I had no real need to be worried. Although some of the things in the negative reviews weren't untrue, they weren't necessarily a problem. The site was nice and well maintained, plenty of room for parking, an honesty shop on site. The check-in process was easy - we were phoned the morning of check in and were provided with codes for the lock boxes in time. The lodges were clean and spacious. The kitchens were well stocked with everything we needed to cook for a large group, including plenty of crockery, cutlery etc. There's plenty of living space, and we were able to fit 9 of us round the dining table for a sit down meal. The outside space in one of the lodges we stayed in wasn't great, but the other was really nice - a little balcony, clean furniture. The rooms are also a decent size. You could easily fit a travel cot in either of the double bedrooms. We used the hot tub in one of the properties. I wasn't sure how that all worked ahead of time, but we were able to speak to the owner on the morning of our stay and organised the use of the hot tub and paid for it by bank transfer after check in.
Like I say, the negative stuff didn't really detract from our experience. The shower in the main bathroom didn't have a shower screen and drained slowly, but it wasn't really an issue. The other thing was that the outdoor space in the Oak lodge wasn't great - the furniture was rusted and the ashtray needed emptying. Fortunately we also had the outdoor space in Elm lodge which we used instead.

Very spacious lodge, comfortable & well equipped. The kitchen had a tea towel, there was a few dishwasher tablets and cleaning products. We bought our own bath towels after reading reviews that we needed to supply our own this was not an issue to us at all, there was a travel cot which looked new and a high chair which were really handy. The outdoor space was great for our grandson to toddle around safely. Peaceful environment near a train track you couldn't see t though. Didn't bother us or disruot our sleep.
Unfortunately neither the fridge & freezer wee working properly so couldn't keep anything in the freezer and the fridge was warm. We did alert the owner.

We hired three lodges for the extended family. The lodges were spacious, well equipped and quite clean. The bedding was fresh and crisp. Beds were really comfortable. There's plenty of outdoor seating space. The hot tub was enjoyed by everyone especially the children.
There was confusion regarding extra fees for dogs. We needed to clean some of the garden furniture and cigarette butts were left on the ground and in an ashtray on the garden table. Generally the garden space could have done with a good sweeping. Having said all this, we still enjoyed our stay very much.

The lodge was huge and tastefully decorated. It was nice to have the option of a walk-in shower or bath. We particularly appreciated having an enclosed small for our dog to enjoy. The lodge has an outdoor seating area and hot tub. Use of the hot tub incurs an additional charge - which we didn't utilise.
Not a negative as such, but it can be quite noisy when the patio door is open with the railway line at one side and the road at the side. (* a country road, but busy) The cold tap in the kitchen of Ash Lodge is leaking when turned on full.

The lodge was clean and tidy with plenty of room for our 5 family members. It was an excellent location for both a family wedding in Congleton and visiting family in Crewe. There was enough parking space for 2 cars next to the lodge.
Although there was a nice walk-in shower in the main bedroom the drain didn't empty quickly enough, meaning that the shower filled up with water. Personally I found the mattress on the bed too soft and I can't say I slept particularly well on any of the nights of our stay.

We had a great stay. Good communication from owners and onsite staff Bev and Nigel who sorted out a couple of problems we had which were dealt with quickly and effectively. The Lodges are well equipped and had added extras like T towel, foil, cling film, washing up liquid etc. The beds were comfortable and Oak Lodge was clean. Good location for the wedding venue we went to. Will definitely stay hear again but next time take advantage of some of the extras which are offered.
There was nothing I didn't like or could offer the owners to improve on what they provide.

Spacious and well equipped for self catering break, clean and tidy.
When we arrived we were told the fridge freezer was out of order so were given a small desk top freezer but wasn’t really large enough. The roof windows were filthy dirty, the patio furniture was too dirty to use covered in rust and green mildew. There were no instructions on how to use anything like the heating, the air con and whilst we were shown how to open door from outside the process for opening from the inside when locked proved quite a challenge. None of this spoiled our break however it would have been nice to sit outside, and these are areas which could really be improved with little effort.

Lovely how quiet and peaceful the site is. Also has a little honesty shop which sells frozen foods, snacks etc which is helpful if you don’t want to leave the site once your there. A lady staff member who was there when we arrived was really lovely, recommended lots of places for us to go and visit whilst we were there which was really appreciated given we weren’t local to the area. Quick check in and check out system which is ideal. The lodge is fully equipped with all kitchen appliances and accessories so plates, cutlery, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc, again ideal if you wanted to cook in rather than eat out. We were also able to order a take out to the site to be delivered from a local place.
Can’t really find one fault with our stay, had everything we needed.
