The staff were amazingly cheerful and helpful as usual! Great communication . A very comfortable, warm, beamed room with a nice bathroom, a large comfy bed, a desk and sofa and very peaceful and quiet. Ample choice at breakfast, including vegetarian options and smoked salmon. The handy car park is just out the back. A beautiful place we stay in to visit family and friends in the area. We shall definitely be returning! Thanks for a great weekend.
Only two slight disappointments - several dogs in the restaurant at breakfast. I appreciate it's a dog friendly place and that's great, but I didn't expect them to be right where I was eating, especially as there's a handy foyer right next door. Only other slight negative was my fried egg was fully solid on Sunday morning! Not sure I've had one like this before at their restaurant which is normally absolutely excellent and a wonderful place for an evening meal too.

The room was very clean with a comfortable bed, tea & coffee making facilities, the building is very old so you have to accept the odd thing but overall it was excellent accommodation The bar and restaurant are very nicely furnished and has a lovely relaxing appeal with the oak beams and décor The staff are very friendly and helpful and we received a warm welcome when we arrived. The hotel is very accommodating for your four legged friends The restaurant is very nice serving excellent food The breakfast was extremely good with plenty of choice for all tastes
One thing i didn't like was the 12.5% added to your evening meal bill without any choice but this seems to be standard practice in Dorchester establishments between 10-12.5% service charge added We always tip if we receive good service but like to decide not be forced on us The one thing that was the most annoying is having a drink in the bar before going into the restaurant and asked if I would like them to go on the table bill so not realising that meant my drinks were plus 12.5% of the price in the bar!!! Sorry

Historic buildings. Shower! Ten out of ten, takes 3 minutes to shower. Cleaning. 10 out of ten Honestly. I dont know the person. But our room was sparkling bright..
Was no heating on. We late check-in. Room was very cold. Everything was warm in the hotel except the room. We asked for heating ... Yeah... Room lovely! Very bit cold. Heating was turned on only when more people arrived. Great historic place. Nothing to say about the place itself. Should visit it in summer, my myself I wouldn't recommend it in any cold season, when you go to reception and it's nice and warm , and when you open your room it's chilly.

The lovely old building in a very nice village.
Some basic maintenance is needed, the bath panel was rotting, there was no chain on the bath plug. The toilet seat wouldnt stay up during use. We opted for an evening meal in the hotel. My wife enjoyed her fish. I had chicken which was a bit on the dry side and the only veg on the plate was some very firm green beans. We were given the bill, and as I normally do I prepared a tip. But then we noticed on the bill that a 12% 'Gratuity' had been added. I can only assume that this was the way the staff are paid. We decided not to argue the point as we were tired after a long journey. So the cash tip was witheld. Breakfast was very good and the room comfortable.

My recent stay at this hotel was exceptional. The establishment exuded a welcoming ambiance with its friendly staff and cosy accommodations. The room, bar area, and restaurant were all elegantly appointed. The low ceilings, while initially surprising, proved to be an unexpected asset, adding to the overall charm of the space. The afternoon atmosphere was particularly pleasant, and the morning breakfast was a delightful experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Lovely place to stay close to a beautiful abbey and great places to walk our dogs. Very dog friendly hotel. We were asked what size beds they needed and arrived to find treats bowls, towels as well as a bed for each of our dogs in our toom. we were allowed to take our dogs in to the dining room for dinner and the bar which was lovely. The staff made a fuss of both of our parents and made us feel really at home. The food was lovely to. We will be going again as we enjoyed ourselves so much.

Thoroughly lovely and helpful staff. The food at the White hart was really superb, we had the Sunday roast and the celeriac steak was very good, the next day I had the vegetable wellington which was really tasty and flavourful. So unusual to get such good veggie options . Bonus plus was the desserts, thyme and honey cheesecake, pecan pie and tarts tatin - incredible! We also slept very well after doing long walks around the Thames path.

The design of the hotel and the energy it provided were really beautiful. The illuminated water well inside, the wooden details, and the quality of the materials were all excellent. The staff were always polite and warm. The menu could be more diverse, but the taste was good (I tried the duck). The breakfast was slightly better than your typical B&B breakfast. There are nice little paths for walks in the vicinity. The village church looked magnificent from the outside but seemed a bit more plain and subdued from the inside to me. Of course, I don't want to be unfair as someone who has seen many places. It's a nice hotel for both family stays and romantic getaways.

I didn't partake in the full english breakfast in the end but my colleague's looked amazing, there was a good selection of cereals and yoghurt as well. The room was beautiful and spacious. The dinner was delicious and the pub itself had a lovely atmosphere.
I was slightly diappointed to be given a twin when I'd booked a double. The car park only had one space left and we couldn't get our van into it so had to park on the road overnight.

Warm welcome, staff very friendly the evening meal was very good as was breakfast
ROOM 5 , you have to be careful when you enter room as there are about 5 steps down to floor level and when you enter room with no lights on very easy to miss your footing. To be fair we were warned about the steps. We kept one of the bedside lights on during the night so we could see the same steps to the bathroom to prevent a fall. It's a lovely old building and it is what it is.
