A beautiful historic building in the heart of Cricklade. Parking was conveniently close by. There’s a restaurant and bar in the premises and there’s a seating area outside. A lovely restaurant is behind the hotel too. The room was clean and the shower had great pressure which isn’t always the case in old buildings. Friendly staff. I was offered help taking my case up and down the stairs, which was nice. The bed was comfortable and I was upgraded to a larger room on arrival which was a real treat! This place is on the up and there are lots of exciting future plans to make it even better.

My stay was In the summer and there was no fan in the room so the window had to be open, so I was ‘up with the larks’. Checkout is when the hotel is unmanned and the exit is down a winding staircase which is not ideal if you have a big case!

The Vale Hotel – A Hidden Gem in a Perfect Location I had a fantastic stay at The Vale Hotel! The location couldn’t have been better—just a short stroll to shops, restaurants, and scenic walking paths. The homemade Indian curries served at the hotel were bursting with authentic flavors and truly impressed me. The downstairs Restaurant and Bar had a warm, welcoming vibe, making it a great spot to unwind. As a bonus, the hotel also owns the Thai restaurant just behind the property, where I enjoyed both a delicious lunch and a memorable dinner. Highly recommended for anyone seeking comfort, convenience, and fantastic food all in one place!

I thoroughly recommend The Vale hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay close to Cirencester, Cotswolds, or North Downs. The town itself is small, but surrounded with lovely nature reserves worth a lengthy hike. Already in Cirencester the locals told me to look forward to the hospitality of Mark, the host, and I wasn't left disappointed. As soon as he saw me arrive in motorcycle gear he offered me to park my ride safely in the gated courtyard. The room I got was unexpectedly spacious, with modern sanitary facilities, and after seeing it I would've loved to stay there longer than just one night. The pub and the restaurant downstairs are perfect for food and drinks. It was one of the nicest, most fun stays on my 10-day tour of south-west England, all thanks to Mark and his talent for bringing people together and making them feel comfortable at his premises. Looking forward to staying there again sometime.

Very welcoming and helpful. Extremely comfortable very large shower with lots of hot water Lovely overnight stay. No parking but very accessible free car park close by Bar & restaurant onsite with great atmosphere. Had drinks, didn’t eat there but menu looked amazing & varied.

Nothing we didn’t like but just a watch out - our room floor had a major slope which felt very odd every time you got out of bed. Bathroom had a step which you needed to remember in the dark. Route out in the morning was across a flat roof and down a spiral metal staircase. All little things that are truly not an issue but need to be aware if any mobility issues

Perfectly located for our trip. The room was lovely and the bed was beyond comfortable. We were on the top floor in room 12. Mark (the owner) was bonkers but in a fabulous way and worked tirelessly throughout to make sure we (and everyone in the bar/restaurant) were enjoying ourselves. The food in both the pub restaurant and the attached Thai restaurant was absolutely 5 star! It was our first time visiting the Cotswolds and we will definitely be back ☺️

Very minor but would’ve preferred a slightly bigger shower cubicle plug that’s just personal preference.

This hotel was great! Mark greeted us at the door, was super welcoming, friendly and helpful after a very negative, stressful experience with another property which we chose to not stay in so this was a very last minute booking. Regardless of this being last minute, check in was super easy and quick and everything was sorted out for us bearing in mind we had literally booked the room about 5 minutes before arrival! The room was super comfortable, spacious and the building had loads of character which was lovely. We felt very safe and welcome. It also had great facilities, everything you needed and my partner didnt stop raving about the comfortable bed! Super happy, would definitely stay again. Thank you very much to Mark and the team for a great stay!

Wonderful stay at this charming risto-pub/hotel! The room was small but very cozy, and I had the best shower of my life—the water was perfectly warm! Our room was well-equipped with towels, a hairdryer, shampoo, and other essentials. Also, always happy when I find a kettle and some tea for a morning cup! The owner was super welcoming—such a nice host! A great choice for a one-night stay, especially for those visiting the Cotswolds. Plus, the free parking in front of the hotel was a great bonus!

The area lacks a bit in restaurants, but luckily there's a Tesco below the hotel where you can buy food and drinks.

The hotel is in an old building on the high street very close to St Sampson's church. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the evening meal was good. I stayed in a single room that had a very low roof beam that I had to duck under. This was fine for me but might have been a bit trickier for someone who was 6 foot tall. There wasn't a separate bathroom, with the shower, toilet and sink being in the same room as the bed. As it was a single room I was fine with this and actually really liked the room. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the price was good.

Nothing.

Great location in the centre of Cricklade on the High Street. Looks like the rooms have been recently decorated. My room was small but comfortable. The shower was great. Easy reach to restaurants, the Thai behind the Vale is great. Couple of cafes to choose from nearby to have breakfast. Easy system for checking out.

The Vale does have a restaurant but it unfortunately wasn't open when I stayed. The stairs will be a problem for those with limited mobility, especially the external spiral staircase used for access when the pub is closed. Tea & coffee provided but no biscuits.

The staff very extremely helpful. We were walking the Thames path with our dog and had managed to get very wet and muddy. Mark was so helpful in getting us sorted. A lovely hot shower and very comfortable bed. Perfect at the end of a very long walk. We ate in the restaurant. The food was delicious Kenyan/English fusion. The restaurant staff were so cheerful and very happy to help us with our menu decisions.

The code system to get back into the building is really the only drawback. We should have written them down and taken a photo so we had them on our phone. We liked being able to leave independently in the morning and had no trouble exciting via the fire exit but this might be difficult for those less mobile.
