we booked a double room but because the room looked a bit small we asked if we could maybe change rooms to a better room after 1 night as we were celebrating our 30 year wedding anniversary . When we arrived they had upgraded our room to a luxury room for no extra charge and also in our room was a card and a bottle of proscesso. Was such a lovely touch. Also the staff are very friendly and the lady that serves you at breaksfast is so lovely and like a family member .She is very welcoming . Highly recommend this as a place to stay in lovely Arundel it's our 3rd stay here.

The staff at The Swan added to the stay, brining a sense of welcome and humour at all times. the lady that looked after the breakfast service was particularly friendly and entertaining, and made sure guests had what they needed. she also gave some good advice about the best scenic route to loop around the town to come back to the castle, as well as suggesting some nice neighboring towns and villages to visit. Prime location in Arundel, with a good walking distance to both the castle and the train station - certainly enough to walk off breakfast!!

although it ultimately didn't matter, and we weren't that fussed as we would be heading down for breakfast anyway, the coffee machine in the room could have benefited from a laminated instruction sheet. the suggest amount of oomph was given, but we still couldn't get it to work. but as mentioned, this was not a big deal and we were more than satisfied with the coffee at breakfast times anyway.

Location right in the centre of Arundel was great and all the staff we encountered were lovely - very helpful and friendly. The room was quite compact, but fine for a short stay, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. A good cooked breakfast was included in the room rate which felt like a nice bonus. Robes and slippers were unexpected at this price point - we didn’t use them, but some might enjoy!

The bathroom in our room really could do with a complete overhaul - it was small with an awkward layout - the over bath shower wasn’t great and overall it looked rather battered and tired. Would be better to ditch the bath completely and refit as a shower room.

Lovely room with a comfy bed and tub bath, in the en- suite. Lovely early morning sunrise, shing through the window. Breakfast was superb and all fresh. The staff were so good, especially at breakfast. Great location near the river and close to everything in Arundel.

A small but very useful improvement would be a wall mounted magnifying mirror - once you wear glasses, putting on mascara whilst leaning over a sink, means you can look like something from a horror movie without knowing it! I think over 50% of your female customers would be eternally grateful!

We cannot recommend The Swan Hotel enough. Me and my husband got married in the Town Hall yesterday and had a beautiful reception and stay in The Swan. The staff were all absolutely amazing, very kind and helpful and gave us a beautiful welcome as we arrived from our ceremony. We have been treated with such kindness and grace and could not have a better time! The hotel manager, Beata, has been incredibly helpful and accommodating and so lovely and has done an amazing job with decorations and signs and place cards that have also been specially written by the staff, who are very talented. I come from the Czech Republic and the chef was happy to create a special request meal for us, to honour our traditions and all the food has been delicious. The room we stayed in was beautiful and comfortable and clean with complimentary hot drinks and toiletries. All this was such a reasonable price, considering how amazing the service was. We would recommend this hotel to anybody who would like a wedding reception or just to stay the night when exploring the beautiful town of Arundel.

The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the toiletries provided were good, and included bubble bath as there was a full sized bath. Bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch. The tea and coffee facilities were really good with fresh milk offered. The staff were friendly and helpful. I arrived by train and the staff were super nice about me leaving my bag before check-in was available (and also storing it after I checked out).

Service at breakfast was very slow which meant I waited a while to get a pot of tea and place a breakfast order (could have been because there was a large party at another table). However the food, cooked to order, was delicious and hot when it arrived.

Wonderful hotel in an excellent location. I stayed at the Swan Hotel last year, and loved it. This time I brought my partner with me and he was equally impressed! All the staff we met were so friendly and helpful, the room had everything we needed for our short stay, and the breakfast was delicious. Lovely, comfortable bed and nice bathroom, all very clean and with nice touches such as the bathrobes and coffee machine and artisan coffee bags. The hotel is in an ideal location, and Arundel is just the perfect place for a short break. Thank you, we loved it and hope to come back again next year!

The only slight drawback (common to a lot of hotels though), is that we couldn't open the window further, which meant the room did get a bit hot and stuffy. The air conditioning unit was very effective once we worked out how to use it in the middle of the night! Some easily accessible and clear instructions on how to use the it nearby would be helpful. This is a very small thing though, and didn't affect our enjoyment of our stay.

The hotel was in an excellent location, and we could leave the car to be able to walk to where we wanted to go to. Breakfast was excellent with lots if choice & freshly cooked. Staff were very pleasant & helpful, especially Yvonne who made sure that we had everything we needed - nothing was too much trouble. She regaled us with her stories & treated us as good friends, rather than just as customers. Accommodation was spotless and very comfortable, with excellent fans in all rooms to tackle the hot weather.

A lovely welcome from Harry on arrival and throughout our stay. I'm afraid I can't recall the names of other staff that we interacted with, apart from Luisa, who was our breakfast server the morning after and took the edge of our hangovers with her lovely manner and sense of humour, not to mention and excellent breakfast, both the buffet and the hot food. We had an amazing dinner the night of our arrival, with steak cooked to perfection and everybody really clued up on gluten free options and precautions for my partner, who is coeliac. Wonderful stay for our anniversary, can't recommend highly enough.

Nothing negative to report whatsoever

Comfortable pub in the centre of this charming town. We booked late and although the only room available was small, it was absolutely fine for us as we were only staying the one night. Breakfast was excellent, with a full range of hot options all freshly cooked to order. Friendly and attentive staff. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

I'm really struggling to find something to improve. A smaller sink in our 'bijou' bathroom would be good, but that's hardly that important!
