Our son and I liked everything about Bohotel. I/we can't recommend Bohotel enthusiastically enough. The rooms were awesome (clean, sizable, comfortable), the location was perfect, the value way, WAY exceeded the cost, the food at the restaurant downstairs was incredible and the staff felt like friends. Special shout-out to Sharon, the only thing more predictable when seeing Sharon than Sharon offering to help first thing was the smile with which we were greeted. This place felt like home :) If you're planning on staying in Macclesfield this is simply your best bet.
We liked everything about Bohotel. No exceptions whatsoever. Every request/question we had was met with an earnest desire to help - quickly. Every accommodation was spot-on. And the people at Bohotel were the stand-outs.

What's not to like! We arrived 3 hours early and from the moment we messaged Laura and Bohotel to request an early check-in to the hours after we checked out we were treated as lifelong, dear friends. No exaggeration, no paid review. The Bohotel's accommodations exceeded every expectation we had - the rooms were spacious and clean, wifi was accessible, reliable and fast, the food was top tier, life stuff/questions which came up over the course of our stay were addressed and resolved immediately - but it was the people that made it perfect. Laura, Sharon, Isaac - absolutely everyone associated with Bohotel, Suburban Green (the restaurant on the first floor of the hotel) - treated us like friends who also happen to be hospitality professionals passionate about their vocation as hospitality professionals. I don't often write these reviews but this is an exception I'm delighted to make. The review writes itself. I can't recommend Bohotel more enthusiastically.
Literally nothing. I've traveled a lot, in the US, in Europe and in Asia. I've stayed in rough places, middle of the road places and I've stayed in top shelf brand locations (and paid for it). Assuming you're not already grumpy about something which has nothing to do with this property and its people this is by far the best choice in Macclesfield (maybe Manchester, who knows..)

The food in the below restaurant/bar was lovely. Host fantastic. Room excellent. We were offered an upgrade to the honeymoon suite and it was well worth it! Couldn't recommend it enough. Sent all my friends photos! Great trip away. There were extra things should you need in a quirky little spot of the hallway in suitcases. The host was always available should you need anything. I recommend reading your emails once you book as there's lots of info on there which we didn't see from not checking our emails but all the info is also provided in the room. Easy check in and check out process.
Robes and slip on slippers for the honeymoon suite would have just added that little bit extra with there being a bath in the room. The noise of the main road is to be expected at times with it being a main high street with cars and buses passing but there's not much that could be done and ear plugs were provided. This is a town location

The owner, Laura really invested in communications before I arrived. She discussed my requirements and switched me to the best room for me (I'm very tall). She was available to support the whole way through my stay-really helpful. Also worth mentioning, the rooms are really special, they're all very beautifully furnished with antiques etc, and are warm and comfy with all the bits and pieces you'd expect from a quality boutique hotel:-) Worth noting the hotel is above a wine bar/restaurant. When I checked in I was little worried to find ear-plugs on the bed-side table. In the end, this wasn't a problem at all, but if you go to bed early (before 10pm) then this may not be the hotel for you.

I had a lovely experience in Room 6, the attic room. It's quirky yet tastefully decorated, with a warm atmosphere perfect for a February stay. The bed was incredibly soft but still offered great support, and the heavy weighted duvet and an abundance of cushions made it extra cozy. The location is ideal – right in the historic part of Macclesfield, with plenty of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants just a stone's throw away. The cafe bar on the ground floor looks lovely (although I didn’t get a chance to try the food or drinks this time, I’ll definitely do so next visit). Overall, a great stay! I’ll certainly return and explore more of the cafe offerings next time.
There is no reception. Self check-in felt a bit like Airbnb, but the staff I spoke with in the cafe was super friendly and helpful when I arrived. One thing to note: the en suite bathroom is tiny, tucked into the eaves of the building. As someone who's 162cm tall with a slim build, it was fine for me, but if you're on the taller side, Room 6 might feel cramped.

The hotel was in a good location. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Down stairs was a small bar and restaurant which had a good atmosphere. I was concerned the room could be noisy but the staff were considerate and things toned down late evening. Parking in the nearby carpark was safe and cheap. The room and bed were a nice size. The room had an art deco feel to it and nicely done. The room had tea/coffee facilities and tv. There were nice little touches like a hand written welcome card, some small treats and a small cake in a tin. The room was nice and warm and for me the bed was very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom looked quite new and was very clean. It had a good shower and the water stayed warm. There was a hair dryer and towels too. There were codes for the entrance door and the room which were great. No keys to worry about and I could come and go as I pleased. The location was near to shops, pubs and restaurants. I stayed two nights over Christmas and enjoyed my stay. I would stay there again.
I booked through booking.com and picked the more expensive room as this included breakfast. I stayed Christmas eve and Christmas day. The hotel emailed me to say the kitchen would be closed on Christmas day morning a continental breakfast would be left outside my door. This was fine. I emailed back to confirm and asked if Boxing day morning would be the same. I said I would be happy with that. They replied saying Boxing breakfast would be back to normal. I received the first breakfast ok. Unfortunately on the boxing day I waited till 9am but there was no sign of the staff or the kitchen being open. It was annoying as I had paid for a breakfast and had to go without as I had to leave and had a 4hr onward journey.

I loved the location and also the back story of the hotel and how it came to be ! I only stayed two nights but both nights were wonderful … the bathroom was my fav part of the stay !
I didn’t actually realise that the rooms are built on top of a bar which made it awkward when going to you’re room with a lot of eyes on you , I did love the beds however I did get poked once or twice by the duck feathers that were in the blankets but still slept great ! With a bar being built downstairs and also had access to the public I did find it quite noisy at times too which was a shame !

Lovely room and bathroom, liked the fact we could help ourselves to extra towels and tea, coffee facilities, in suitcases outside the room .(Could do with a fill as not a lot in it when we arrived). Comfy bed with lots of pillows. Self check in was easy to do.
When I booked I didn't realise it was above a restaurant as I also looked at the Bohouse rooms and I think I got mixed up. The restaurant is open from 8am-10/11pm, the only issue was the noise of the music at night time and people in the courtyard but it might not bother everyone.

The room was comfortable and well placed for our purposes. It was a little smaller than the photos suggested and not nearly as elegant as we expected. The heating was unpredictable(someone may have tampered with the radiator) and did not come on in the morning. It is the first time I've been asked to take rubbish away with me, so that was novel. Over all the stay was pleasant and we really liked the service at breakfast downstairs. I would stay again but I think it was a little pricey. It was very quiet considering it was over a bar/bistro. Always worrying when a room comes with earplugs, but no need.
Th,e photos were very selective, giving an expectation of the room not entirely matched by the experience. I have come across this self service ethos a few times since lockdown, with creative no reception systems, maybe this should be reflected in the pricing. The room was very dark and no wardrobe space, just hangers. I guess we're the only people who dress for a night out. I'm glad we didn't have to iron anything since the ironing board was outside in a shed. That was different.

Lovely room – we arrived at night & it looked stunning with the little lamps on! The bed might be the comfiest I’ve ever slept in, the pillows & duvet were amazing! Had a drink downstairs, lovely staff & reasonable prices, although food only served until 9 rather than 10. We went next door to the pizza place and it was great too. Highly recommend the truffle and Parmesan fries!
A little dusty on the metal bath and below bedside tables, but can be expected in an all black room. Can get a wee bit noisy depending what’s happening outside, but host gave us ear plugs so popped them in & got straight back to sleep.
