All staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The full breakfast was very good quality and there was plenty of it. We got horrendously delayed by train issues coming up from London. I called the hotel and they could not have been more helpful. We didn't get there until 10.15pm and they allowed us to check in that late and gave us the keys. It took a great deal of stress out of the situation!

I can't really think of anything that I didn't like in any way. The building work did not bother us. We had breakfast and were gone each day before it started. Maybe the bar could open a little later!

I liked the restaurant and the bar; my dinner was excellent and the serving staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient.

There was a very noisy wedding reception right under my room, which I was advised of while checking in. I wasn’t particularly bothered because the hotel has to make money and you can’t stop people from enjoying themselves; I simply retired to the bar, had a large glass of wine and went through my emails until the party finished. The manager apologized profusely to me, but I told him there was no need (my late Dad was in the travel business for his entire career and I understand how these things work).

Used this hotel as near to where our friend lives and had been recommended . Obviously used to be a grand old house and impressive staircase. Our room was at the front with some sea view through the trees in the park opposite. The room was large but the en-suite bathroom on the small side and not a forceful shower but always hot water. Make sure you have a good appetite as the meal portions are large. The restaurant was popular with non residents at lunch and evenings. The staff were excellent - very friendly and engaging, professional and helpful.

Bathroom could have been bigger with a more powerful shower but it’s an old building with probably old plumbing.

The room (Room 3) was wonderful - large, great views from bay window, spotlessly clean, comfortable. Dinner was great as well, with amazingly generous portions. My wife asked to take home the meat she couldn't finish and the young woman who served us happily stored it in the fridge overnight. Excellent service. Breakfast was similarly generous and superbly well cooked.

Our bathroom was pretty small - cramped, even, with a wash hand basin that was small because that's all they could fit in there. The shower was small and old-fashioned looking, and the controls seemed curiously stiff an difficult to operate. we managed, though.

The pillows and bed were comfy and the breakfast wast best I've had from anywhere I've stayed amazing breakfast

The shower was cold and on Sunday morning at breakfast there was a young girl running about daft while the older lady who started later just kept trying to look busy but not actually doing any work leaving young girl to serve customers and tidy up as well she looked knackered fair play to her sure her name was fern and gave amazing service for being rushed off her feet basically doing other woman's job as well as her own we

The location, it's a beautiful building and so happily situated. The staff were brilliant. Couldn't do enough for us. so very very friendly, courteous and professional. It had a family run feel. I would definitely stay again

My room was lovely.... But at 4.00am there was a loud thumping noise...? Generator or pump that was then constant. This was the only small thing. It's been worse in other hotels I have stayed at .......Other than that I would highly recommend it..

Friendly staff especially Front of house and staff during the funeral high team.

Inconsistency at breakfast... bacon was floppy not crispy so ask for crispy! No jam or marmalade with toast the first day so didn't bother eating it at all. Need to provide tea and coffee throughout not just before breakfast. Everyone friendly but seem a bit short staffed. Food was lovely for high tea and evening meal was delicious! Beer first class. Room was great, warm and sunny and the shower was really good. Nice vibe ... old fashioned, clean and comfortable.

Really nice hotel, lovely staff very friendly and can’t do enough to help. We had a very nice dinner all cooked fresh and served by attentive staff. Prices were very reasonable and if you have a big appetite this is the place for you very generous portions, likewise breakfast was exceptional cooked fresh and served at the table. Good parking at the hotel, and WiFi in all areas. Happy to recommend and look forward to returning.

There was nothing we didn’t like, one minor point which is not an issue was we would have appreciated an extra chair in the room, we were there for only 1 night so not a major problem

Large nicely decorated, comfortable room with nice views. Staff were all very friendly and helpful from check in at reception to the bar and food service staff. Excellent dinner and very good (massive) breakfast which set us up for the day. already looking forward to another visit.

If i'm being really picky the shower was very low pressure and could could do with an upgrade. Other than that the bathroom seemed to have been recently upgraded and was perfect.

We arrived late but the staff was waiting for us and was super friendly. Our entire stay was perfect. Easy to reach from the train station via cab. The room was great and a short walk from the coast line with a beautiful view. The breakfast at this location was top notch!!!! We are already planning a trip back to the area and we will stay here again. Dinner was also incredible and they have a great whiskey bar. I highly recommend this location!
