The Helen was our last stop in a 2 week trip to Athens and some of the islands, so was our 4th hotel in as many weeks, and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. We stayed for 4 nights, and would like to have stayed for longer! On arrival we were given a warm welcome, and this continued throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent team that works there. The facilities were wonderful. We had an apartment with a large balcony off 2 bedrooms, the view of the pool and sea was lovely and it was a great place to wake up to. The bathroom had 2 basins with lots of room, the shower was good, the beds very comfortable and we enjoyed the kitchen, as we found eating out all the time had become a bit wearing by this time. Housekeeping was great, and it was nice to come back to clean towels and made up beds etc. There is a lovely bar and restaurant, again with great views of the sea and pool, and in fact the pool area is mentionable as it was relaxing and beautifully maintained and landscaped. We loved the pool as a beautiful alternative to the beach, and it’s probably one of the nicest hotel pools on the island. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with these genuine hosts and highly recommend the Helen to anyone staying on Poros. Thanks so much everyone and keep up the good work!

Nothing; as we don’t change towels at home every day, my one recommendation would be to ask guests to place dirty towels/ones that need replacing, in the bath/shower, to save on laundry!

Our family stay at the Helen Hotel in Poros was truly a memorable experience! This beautiful hotel, run by a lovely family, made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Their warmth and hospitality made a perfect holiday! The swimming pool area was a fantastic spot to relax and unwind, and only just across the road was access to a private beach. The hotel was conveniently located a short taxi (or water taxi) ride from the port and in walking distance of a number of bars and restaurants. For the majority of our stay we ate at the hotel where the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We enjoyed every meal, from hearty breakfasts to delightful dinners, each dish bursting with flavour. Thank you to all of the staff at the Helen hotel and a special thanks to Patty, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless. She helped us with ferry times, arranged taxis, and organized a fantastic boat trip around the island. Overall, our stay at the Helen Hotel was exceptional. The combination of a beautiful setting, friendly family atmosphere, and attentive service made for an unforgettable family getaway. We can’t wait to return! Nick and family from Cambridge, UK

Completely charming hotel next to the sea run by the most welcoming and cheerful sisters. The hotel has an incredibly warm and cheerful atmosphere. Our small apartment was very spacious and had everything we needed. Poros is unspoilt and tranquil and we loved exploring the island. You can eat on the terrace next to the sea, shaded by eucalyptus trees, and the food is the best we had in Greece. All the staff were charming and service at meals perfect.

First of all, I cannot write a more positive review. This hotel is most likely the best hotel in Poros. We stayed here as a young family looking for peace and relaxation and we got it. The staff here are a delight and the rooms (and view) are beautiful. We actually had a difficultly while we were here and our son contracted a strep throat infection. The owners sorted all issues in a matter of hours we saw a microbiologist and a paediatrician. The owner even drove us to the medical centre! Sofia and her husband and children are a credit to this place. They made the whole experience wonderful. We have always said we would never revisit a hotel but this hotel ticks all the boxes 1. Wonderful owners 2. Respectful of everyone 3. Incredible homemade food and restaurant on the beach 4. Beautiful rooms 5. Clean pool and lots of sunbeds 6. Sea view. I personally cannot speak more highly of this hotel

It was perfect

Seaview location, lovely pool area, cleanliness, comfy sunbeds- Helen and all were perfect, always on hand for any questions. Some nice bars & restaurants locally and the hotel made nice food too

The hotel was about 30/40 mins walk from the port. Taxis were always on hand for journeys back to hotel. - costing around €5

Breakfast was a la carte. We tried almost all the options and they were all excellent! the location we had breakfast was amazing. Just across the street from the hotel on the beach!!!

We were 4 people, us couple and our 21 year old sons. We asked for a second key but the owner said that they don't give one for security reasons. But we had to get up to open for the boys when they were out at night, as the key was also used for the electricity inside the room. Regarding the cleaning, although it seemed cleaned, when we saw the cleaning lady cleaning our bathroom, she was using very used and dirty cleaning towels for every surface (toilets, basins etc) Also our room was from the renovated ones and it was very ok, but my sister had to book one of the old ones (there was no availability for renovated) and she had many issues with the toilet. It was very very old had problems with the flow.. smell.. and so on....

This is a little gem of a family run hotel in a wonderfully quiet spot. Our room was spotless and well equipped and the home cooking in the restaurant was traditional Greek food at its very best, cooked with an obvious desire to showcase the best local ingredients rather than the ubiquitous gyros served elsewhere. For the less adventurous or those with fussy kids, they also serve homemade burgers, pizzas and pasta. The location was ideal, on the outskirts of Askeli with a small private beach as well as a lovely garden and swimming pool within the hotel grounds. The pictures don't do it justice and certainly can't describe how welcoming the hosts are.

My only criticism, which applies to all the places on the island, is the prevalence of plastic water bottles. It would be great to have water in jugs or glass bottles please.

We loved everything about this hotel, the facilities are amazing, but most of all, the staff are the best part, all so friendly and happy to help. Nothing was too much trouble. The pool area is amazing and considering it was august, we never struggled to get a sun bed. There is a great mix of areas to sun bathe and seated areas in the shade. We had various meals at the hotel which were all exceptional! We recommend asking what the specials are as they were gorgeous! There was also a great choice of drinks and cocktails which we enjoyed lots of! We stayed at the hotel for relaxation after being in Athens for a week and it was perfect. The location was still great for exploring and the views are perfect around the hotel. There are also some other great restaurants close by if you wanted to venture out. The apartment was really comfortable and clean.

There is nothing not to like about this place!

Our stay at the Helen Hotel was simply perfect. Wonderful family and hosts (Sophia and her family were so kind to us) who ensure that you have everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Situated in the quiet, picturesque, Askeli Beach with great local facilities including the Colona Bakery it's a good base to explore Poros on foot and by car / bike etc. Rooms are essentially a mini apartment with everything you need and all have big balconies and sea views. So clean and comfortable and you can choose to relax by the well designed pool area & garden or the beach (across the road). We also ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. We would highly recommend a stay with Sophia and her family and am sure we will return.

There is nothing to dislike! It’s a shame the restaurant wasn’t fully open but the season hadn’t started yet and there were plenty of options close by.
