The location has to be in the top 10 in the UK - wonderful garden in a superb rural setting, with a view of Longridge Fell, an unspoilt part of Lancashire with the sound of lapwings, curlews, oyster catchers we heard from the garden. The room was spacious if dated, there was a good selection of cereal including home made bread and granola, fruit and excellent dinner menu with white table cloths and great service from the staff. This area is completely under- sold as a tourist destination ideal for walking, cycling etc and with lovely villages (no ugly development!) in a protected area.

There were large cobwebs on the ceiling which I asked to be removed, the bathroom floor needed some new grout, with some paintwork past its best, the basin was too low and too far from the mirror for make-up purposes and the sofa needed replacing as it was sagging, but beds were comfortable. The towels were replaced every day which wasn't necessary especially with current water shortages.

The hotel was well appointed ,very clean . We had a suite which had a large bedroom and bathroom on one level and separate lounge upstairs. The staff were very friendly and attentive and looked after us very well. The grounds were stunning with attractive gardens and plenty of room to explore with views of the local fells as a backdrop. There was plenty of seating in the patio areas outside the restaurant for pre- dinner drinks. The food was delicious with local produce, beautifully presented . The breakfast was very good and I particularly enjoyed the bread and preserves baked and produced in their own bakery.

Part of its appeal was the beautiful surroundings but the roads through the countryside were narrow and difficult in places. It was hard to plan the routes as there was no obvious direct road to take.

Excellent breakfast; staff dealt effectively and patiently with my lactose intolerance; our suite was superb, even more luxurious than we expected; the public rooms, dining room and bar/lounge area were tastefully and beautifully presented and decorated; we love white table linen, increasingly unusual these days! Our dinner was very good, except for niggles below.

It would be good to have a fridge in the room, though for a short stay not really necessary; my dinner main dish was slightly marred by tough meat, but there was an immediate apology and a genuine offer to replace (I felt unable to accept, as we were well into the meal), followed by a spontaneous deduction from our final account. It couldn't have been handled better: exemplary customer service.

The hotel is simply beautiful and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The suites are unique across two floors and provided ample space for a family of four also travelling with a dog. Food was delicious and the local town was a lovely place to walk around and explore. We also stayed for dinner one evening which I cannot fault at all.

There really isn't anything to dislike. If there was one thing I would share that would have been great for me personally would have been the opportunity to order some vegetarian alternatives at the fried breakfast station.

Location, Breakfast. The room, and bed were grand, especially the bathroom. Lovely staff. Nice grounds and gardens. The place had an old fashioned welcoming atmosphere.

I liked almost everything. However the room was cold. Which was the last thing I needed as I'd cycled there, and really needed to warm up.There were 2 heaters in the main room and they simply were not on. The bathroom was lovely and warm though. Some modern touches would have been nice, such as USB charging ports, and instant WiFi connection (you have to fill out an online form.)

Beautiful dining room with fantastic views overlooking the valley and the well kept gardens. Easy for wheelchair with lifts and accessible to all areas. Lovely room with same views loved it! Great food. We had 90th birthday, which was set up in a large private dining room with roaring fire comfortable sofas and chairs, Christmas tree and Christmas flowers perfect for a family gathering large or small children had room to play too. Thank you Gibbon Bridge to all staff for making our stay perfect.

Nothing All perfect.

Beautiful building with lovely, comfortable suite. The gardens were gorgeous. The evening meal was sublime and affordable and the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Breakfast was disappointing after such a high standard with the evening meal. Not much choice with the hot stuff (no scrambled eggs, no mushrooms) and very low on stock. Had to wait twice for it to be replenished. A games room would have been nice, not much to do there.

The location was amazing and such a beautiful garden. My room was warm and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant beautiful with views across the gardens. Breakfast staff were exceptional, I was a little early yet I was still able to go in.

My only criticism was the toilet it was difficult to flush and it seemed to be leaking from the handle. Everything else in the bathroom was great. Powerful hot shower and toiletries.

We loved everything about our stay. Only one night, but we will be staying again. A lovely find near chipping. A beautiful hotel with stunning surroundings. We had a suite which was on two floors. I actually thought we'd been given the wrong room as it was very grand. The staff were lovely. Friendly and funny . They made us feel very welcome. A nice little touch was seeing our names on the breakfast table dressed as if it was a wedding breakfast. It was just the best night away in an amazing hotel. I would highly recommend it .

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Super-friendly and welcoming staff, very comfortable hotel, bed superb - best nights sleep i’ve had for ages. Breakfast was superb - very good blend of table service and self-service worked well and food was excellent. Lovely morning run options, with care, on quiet country lanes.

I couldn’t get the shower to work at all, and eventually the control knob came apart in my hands. Not a big issue for me, I managed to wash with hot water from the bath taps, but meant score 9 rather than 10. Would def stay again if in the area.
