Brilliant service here. We arrived with a bit of bluster - late ferry over from Hoy, needing to check 8 people into three rooms, had dinner booked, and some of our group were still collecting luggage from the previous place (sister hotel The Royal). The chap behind bar was very surprised they had not been transported over. Without any fuss, he just jumped in his van and drove off to sort it out for us (literally a 2-minute drive, but still). Turned what was a relative faff into a non-problem. Everything else ran smoothly too - dinner booking handled perfectly despite the complicated arrival. Just really thoughtful, can-do attitude throughout. Quieter evening vibe than the Royal (or could just be Friday versus Saturday). Great selection of local whiskies and beers. Located directly opposite bus/ferry terminal great travel options for Hoy, Scara Brae, Kirkwall all within 30 mins, and loads more beyond. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone who appreciates staff who actually care about making your stay work.

This hotel was first class, the perfect location for me due to the bulk of my work being in Stromness and with the ferry terminal quite literally just across the road, I could not ask for more. Unfortunately for me the restaurant was closed in the evening due to the end of the season but, if the food was as good as the absolutely delicious breakfast then there was nothing to dislike. The rooms and indeed the hotel overall was a delight to stay in and I look forward to a return visit.

Leaving and the poor weather, however, in all honesty, the weather is part of the experience. Love Orkney.

location excellent, but car-parking a bit of a pain as one had to move the car every morning by 9.am or get locked in to paying for another 3 hours parking.

Most of the rooms are in a block behind the pub/restaurant you see when you come off the ferry but they are a good size with good showers, plenty of space for luggage, chargers and so forth. There is a laundrette in the ferry terminal. Proper breakfast served in the restaurant, which also does decent food in the evening - if you're staying any length of time in Stromness, it will be worth booking it.

There are few eating options in Stromness on Sunday and, especially, Monday so make sure you book something in advance or get something from the Co-op before it closes - it's a 5-10 min walk along the harbour road.

Our room was on the top floor with a very steep final of stairs to navigate - not easy while carrying luggage up or down. While great service and a nice room, it was expensive compared to 20+ other hotels we have stayed in during our 4 week tour of the UK - we acknowledge there are limited other options for a single night's stay in Stromness though

Stayed here to have an easy place to rest at the end of a busy travel day by train, to Thurso and, finally, on the ferry from Scrabster to Stromness. The location right across from the ferry terminal proved to be excellent. The room was very spacious. The bathroom was modern, and up to standards. The bed was very comfortable. This hotel is not only in an excellent location for the ferry terminal, but also for exploring Stromness, one of Orkney’s cutest towns. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and allowed us to store our luggage for a couple of hours. The breakfast was good, and it was nice that the breakfast hours were quite flexible.

The info in the room said that breakfast was until 9.00 but this had not been updated to reflect the summer times when the latest breakfast was 8.45. After we mentioned this, an updated sheet was put under our door, but it did seem to us that it was a significant oversight to change the hours without changing the info in the rooms.

Couldn't find the drop off point for the keys on checkout ( it was early and reception wasn't open). Therefore I ended up just leaving the key in the lock for housekeeping to find. The 'double' bed was actually two twins joined together - this formed a hard ridge between the beds and made it uncomfortable to sleep in the middle of the bed. Windows opened directly onto a laneway and so didn't feel secure leaving them open during the day to let fresh air into the room.

Concerned about checkout,exit time 10.30 ,after breakfast returned to room at 9.45 to find belongings in hallway and room being cleaned.mentiomed this to staff member who told me that the cleaner probably thought we had already left!? I asked how could this be when belongings were still in our room, she then remarked maybe she was going to return belongings to the room after cleaning, which made no sense whatsoever.I remarked that anyone could have stolen belongings out on the landing (purse included) to which she replied don't worry everyone is honest here!!!

I loved this hotel! This was the cutest room for one at the top floor of the inn. It had a skylight that opened for fresh air that looked over the tops of houses, and the other window looked out over the harbor. The bathroom mirror was amazing. It was the perfect ambient lighting to get ready. I need one for my bathroom at home. Because the room was so high up and away from the other rooms, it was also very quiet. I felt like I was the only person in the hotel.
