We loved the huge kitchen that was really well organized, with baskets marked for each room. The eating area was so cozy and bright with windows overlooking a beautiful yard. It felt homey. We also loved the little study area. I was traveling with my mom and the room was kind of small, so we used that room for time to ourselves for reading to give the other privacy and also just to stretch out. The owners were super responsive, brought me extra blankets themselves. My mom had a great conversation with them. It's a really great location, across from greenspace and a tiny lake, and about a 15-20 minute walk to town, and a beautiful walk at that. We didn't use the bus, but the bus stop is right at the end of the street from the place. It feels really homey. Will definitely book again when I come back!

The bed was so uncomfortable that I almost slept on the floor. My mom had no issue with her bed (we had twin beds); it wasn't different, she just has different bed needs than I do.

The location was great for getting off the ferry. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great. Room was good sized.

The only reason for not giving 10 was the stairs. My fault for not requesting ground floor. However, we had to go down the stairs and then up the other stairs for dinner and breakfast. I don't have the best mobility so this was a struggle. The place was friendly but it's due for a big maintenance job.

A very clean, comfortable and spacious room. Tea/coffee were plentiful and great view across the harbour. The fish and chips were REALLY good. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming.

No breakfast available but we were given a number of options. There is also a nice cafe across the road that serves a good hearty breakfast. The bar was closed at 9pm with no alternative watering holes within easy walking distance. Nothing else to do but sit in the room watching TV. I'm guessing this wouldn't be the case durring the summer when the hotel is probably at its busiest.

Tiny single-bed room with everything you need... USB Ports for charging, bedside lamp, ensuite bathroom, complimentary room items like wine, coffee and tea? Great included breakfast in the adjoining upstairs restaurant. Very gracious staff. Ordinarily this would have been out of my price range (frugal) with CAD being just a bit more than half the worth of the £. The free breakfast took the sting out. Despite the Ferry Inn being attached to the bar and restaurant the room was very quiet.

If you are catching an early ferry, this is the perfect location. Staff are totally geared up for this too, anticipating when you'll need breakfast, giving all the information you'll need. Accommodation is clean and without frills but very reasonably priced and very comfortable. If you need your luxuries on holiday this might not be for you but for most travellers this will be an excellent overnight before a ferry journey.

It's not entirely disabled friendly- particularly if you have mobility issues. The restaurant is adjacent to the main property and up some very steep outside stairs. However our ground floor room was fitted out for those with mobility needs and alternative access to breakfast may be available. If booking I would ask.

this is a great place to stay if you are catching the ferry to Stromness. this is the second time we've stayed at the Ferry Inn. It may not be the most modern furnishings, but it is immaculately clean and very comfortable. the food is fantastic and you won't get a better breakfast !!! the staff are always friendly and chatty. we had a room with a view over the harbour, toiletries supplied, nice selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a lovely touch with the port. our dogs were also made welcome.

Great location for catching the Ferry and observing the harbour at work. The room was large enough for the two of us and we found it clean and comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and it didn’t bother us that this was served in the restaurant next door .

Although the room and view were great we were on the top floor for which someone with mobility issues may struggle as they were a little bit steep.

Very close to ferry terminal which we loved as easy to check in for our ferry. Restaurant was great we had a lovely dinner and breakfast was good. A little bar for a drink was nice as well. Parking was easy right out the front. Staff were excellent and helpful and check in was simple and easy. Nice surprise was a little port in our room.

Stairs to room, not a problem for us but could be for some people.

Perfect location for overnight stay before catching the ferry and easy free parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful Meal in the restaurant freshly cooked and delicious

We had 2 rooms and the bed in room was not comfortable- saggy in the middle. Not a problem for us but might be for others is that you have to go downstairs, outside and then up another set of stairs to get to the restaurant - thankfully wasn’t cold or wet when we stayed

The Ferry Inn is not a romantic establishment but it is for professional travelers it is everything I mentioned. The personnel is knowledgeable, helpful, and kind; at the restaurant, they offered great quality service and good food.

The location is perfect if you have to travel by ferry to Orkney Island; about 10-minute walk. a
