The view from the balcony, and its proximity to the river is what sold us on the room. The sitting area along the river was really nice. There were chairs, a fire pit, two or three charcoal grills, and even a swing.
We got off to a rocky start when the key for my room would not unlock the door. We got there around 4 PM, found our key in an envelope taped to the door, and tried several times to open the door. Our neighbor even tried! I called the number listed, and the man who answered it acted as if I didn't know how to use a key. He said they were out to dinner, and he would be back in about 30 minutes or so. He came within the 30 minutes, and lo and behold, the door wouldn't open for him either! Finally, we got in and got unpacked. The room was very small, but adequate. The bed was very uncomfortable.

Yvonne was the very best. She is kind and thoughtful. I had a chest cold while there from allergies to the trees of North Carolina. Yvonne sent me some lovely pomegranate juice to bolster my system. She had coffee delivered. She genuinely cared and was so kind. I decided to add two days to my trip. Tim was wonderful and came to fix my rocking chair when a slat came loose. The two of them made my stay divine. I had the most perfect cabin, the one with a one bedroom and living room. Plus a large wide deck with big rocking chairs. I spent hours on my deck listening to the many birds singing and the water of the river rushing over gentle falls. I saw a groundhog as well as the squirrels, cardinals and a passing by black bear (I have these at home in Lake Tahoe) One of my best places to stay ever. Thank you Yvonne and Tim

Great location. Right in the river. Nice town strip right up the road and not far past full grocery store and very cheep access to maintained beach. Great getaway with Chimney Rock park right there. See the waterfall from your front porch then go clime up to it a sit under it!
Ac wasn't the cleanest in the first room and the network was down right away for a small section of the property. But nothing in their control as Spectrum wouldn't come out to fix it for 5 days! Full points to the Lodge for trying to fix the problem, then when stone walled by the company they made accommodations for us at no extra charge. Great cabin and view as well!

The location was convenient, the property was beautiful and well-maintained. The room was as to be expected for a hotel, and looked and smelled so clean when we arrived! We did have trouble staying connected to the wifi, but there were several other network options that were available that we didn't try. We had a great experience, would definitely come back and recommend to friends!
We had trouble getting and staying connected to wifi. There were so many network options, it would have been great to know which were out "best bets" for consistent connection.

I loved the proximity to the river and the covered porches for everyone. Also, while no cable seemed like a bummer, the Roku TV came preloaded with all kinds of streaming apps presigned in. My kiddos had no nickjr withdrawals at bedtime. Another bonus to the property was it's proximity to Lake Lure and all the shops. If I hadn't had small kiddos I could've walked to everything!
The rooms were smaller than I anticipated, while we made it work with her playpen and walker, etc. It was a cramped space. Our AC unit was also struggling hard to perform, my husband got it working without all the strain, room got super cold after that. My only other dislike was the rooms seemed to be lacking sounds control. We couldn't hear talking, thank God, but every move our neighbors made we could hear.

Love the location close to town & right on the stream. The rooms are older but nicely decorated kind of rustic. Very appropriate for the mountains. Also very clean!
The rooms are close to the road so you do hear some traffic going by.

The cabin was in the perfect location. Very close to the mountains and even closer to the river that runs behind the property. We took advantage of the bbq grill out back, through some meat on the grill while the kids enjoyed the river just steps away. Pro tip: request a room with a patio for great views.
The bathroom is tiny but not a deal breaker for my crew. Everything else was nice and cozy.

The view was amazing. Room had what you needed and clean. Loved having a full size fridge. No frills but that's fine with me.
If I had to complain about anything it would be the bathroom needs an exhaust fan so the room doesn't steam up from the shower. It has a window you can open but wife and daughter weren't comfortable with that. I would still come back for the view alone.

I loved the quaintness. It was right by the river. They had a fire pit and swing onsite. They coffee in a thermal thing in the morning by the office and that was nice too. The lady was very friendly when we checked out.
To close to road but it was ok.

The location of this motel was perfect: right on the Rocky Broad River and a little out of town. The views of the river and of Chimney Rock State Park were incredible. Our room included a small kitchen space and was perfect for our 4-day stay. It was clean and cozy, and our room had a deck with chairs that looked out over the river and mountains. The grounds had picnic tables, fire pits with wood provided, and chairs and rockers to enjoy the river close up, which we did.
There were only two things I was disappointed with: first, our windows didn't open to the NC mountain breezes and river sounds, and smoking was allowed - not in the rooms, but guests in the rooms next to us and below us smoked when sitting out on their decks. Unfortunately, cigarette smoke, even outside when nearby, bothers me a lot; so there were times I couldn't sit outside and enjoy the views on my deck.
