Hickory The location is phenomenal—minutes from Chimney Rock State Park. It’s close to a few restaurants as well. Our room was recently renovated, clean, and spacious. The small kitchenette was very useful to make breakfast. (There is a small lounge where muffins and coffee are available at the inn in the morning, as well as filtered water to fill up water bottles.) We loved the Keurig coffee machine in the room, as well as the fridge with freezer and the microwave. It’s a “smart” hotel so we got the code to open our room via text message and we could communicate with them the same way during the entire stay, as there is no front desk with personnel.
There was a mix-up with our booking, though, as we got a different room that had no kitchenette. After some text messages we were able to sort that out. The inn is by the road so inevitably there’s some car noise coming in. The bed was too soft for out liking. There was also a lamp constantly turned on right in front of our room, so even with the “blackout” curtains used it wasn’t dark enough for the night. Showering was also a bit tricky as there was no wall holder for soap/shampoo and the shower curtain was pretty short so we had to pay attention not to flood the bathroom. Overall for the price I would definitely recommend it and would go back any time. This inn is the perfect choice for those wanting to explore the area without spending and arm and leg.

Amazing place to stay, so glad we found it. We stayed upstairs & the view of Hickory Nut Falls was amazing to eat breakfast with. It's maybe a 10 minute walk down to the village where the entrance to the park is. Couldn't fault the place. Donna & her Husband who drop in daily were amazing, she even gave me a squirt of window cleaner to clean the inside of our hire car front screen as the fog on it was dangerous driving into the sun. We loved everything about this place.

Loved the location, I was in town for a wedding and it was perfect. The room was cozy and cute. A small mini fridge WITH a freezer was awesome to have since the town only has a few local restaurants. The decor was adorable.
There could have been more than one trashcan in the room. After two days of staying the trash was piling up. And while the beds were comfy with pillows and covers the mattress sagged in the middle a bit in the one I slept in. Also, the second floor has several narrow stairs leading up to it. I didn't realize that beforehand but luckily my 5-year-old managed them fine.

Housekeeping staff very efficient and helpful, cleanliness excellent. The free coffee, hot tea and water was a nice touch. It appears that every space in the room has been used to maximum purpose and the linens were good quality, the bed comfortable. Parking spaces very convenient.
The old dilapidated carpet was the biggest negative aspect of the property and brought the cleanliness into question. Upon checking in, the smell of carpet deodorizer was irritating but soon dissipated. If the carpet could be replaced with some easily cleanable surface like laminate, the feel and appearance of the room would be greatly elevated. Still, considering all points, this particular room was comfortable, adequate and a good value for one or two guests who plan to spend minimal time in their room. (Room 3). Also, maybe a couple of bananas in the coffee room would be a nice touch.

I really enjoyed the comfy bed and cleanliness of the room. The self-service and text check-in was so simple and convenient. The view of the falls was lovely when we finally discovered where it was (took us a bit to look up). I really appreciated the design of the room, the efficiency, and the attention to detail.
I understand why the twin bed was on an upper bunk but it would have been nice to know this in advance. My 2 year old kept bumping his head on the ceiling (and asking for a drill so he could "make a big hole up here" and stand up- not gonna lie, it was pretty funny). Thank goodness for the bedrails or we would have really been concerned. Otherwise, no complaints.

The entire apartment was excellently cleaned and decorated with a simple yet modern but "homey" touch. Smart TVs in each main area allowed family time and a place to wind down each night. The staff was EXCELLENT about answering calls or questions along the way. The convenient furnishings of little essentials and the up to date appliances were definitely appreciated. There were overhead fans in the main bedroom and living room. The board games and coffee/tea/water machines were a nice compliment. The dedicated pet area was a nice feature. The views from the sitting area just outside our door of the waterfall and Chimney Rock were a relaxing site. The location is right down from the main shops. This offers a convenience factor if you don't mind walking a little, but it also lets you take a break from the rush of a busy day or crowd. Parking is available amidst the shopping and dining areas should you choose to move from the inn. DEFINITELY recommend!!
Everything was great!!

It felt like it was a home.... very peaceful! Great location for me... not far from anywhere, but it's nice to be on the outskirts. Easy to access adminities.
The bed was a little uncomfortable, but I still slept well. The dog run was nice, but some people didn't clean up after their dog. You made it easy to clean up after your pet, so why don't people adhere to that? I don't know, but I just had to look closely while my dog and I were in there. Great place!!!

Stayed here in the past under different management, the new owners have significantly upgraded the interiors of the rooms, modernizing and improving the quality of the furnishings and beds.
No face to face contact during the duration of the stay with hotel staff, everything was remote via text/phone calls. I get that this is likely more cost efficient but slightly impersonal and inconvenient while travelling.

Proximity to Chimney Rock State Park, shops, restaurants and many other scenic spots (e.g. hickory falls/river, Lake Lure beach, marina).
Nothing in particular. We found it a little bit pricy, but our stay was during the August long weekend in a very touristy area so I guess that is to be expected. Something that would add value is a continental breakfast (just something simple like buns, muffins, croissants with condiments) as there are not many places nearby that are open for breakfast (not on Sundays anyways).

It was a last minute booking and we could not have been happier! It was an adorable room. Clean, cutely decorated, small but organized with enough space for everything. We especially loved the outdoor seating where we could hear the creek. The best part was our short walk to town and the winery. Unexpected surprise that was comfortable, affordable, and clean.
Situated on a street where cars/trucks driving by. It would be nice to have a fire pit somewhere to sit at night.
