The Monte Vista is perfect for a weekend getaway to the mountains of NC. Well maintained historic property at a very reasonable price. Would love to visit again.

That we couldn’t stay longer!

Location very close to many shops & restaurants. The dinner we had was great & the waitress was so patient, friendly & helpful. (We had lots of questions for her!) All the staff members were helpful & friendly. The building was temperature-controlled, so we had no thermostat. But it was a pleasant temperature.

No elevators, & we were on the 3rd floor. But an employee helped us with luggage. It was a historical hotel, so I should have asked ahead about elevators. The breakfast, $12, was just okay. The croissant was hard & dry, the sausage a little odd.

What a beautiful hotel. It was in a great location; walking distance right into the wonderful town. It was really fun at night too as there was a lovely restaurant in the hotel and a nice bar to sit at and listen to music. Dinner was great too. Since the hotel is old, the rooms had a lot of charm with antique features. Be aware tho, there are no TVs in the rooms.

The only reason I didn’t give the hotel a 10 was because the breakfast was very minimal and really not very good. I figured having a restaurant there, the breakfast would have had healthy options to select from.

Very clean, cozy and accommodating. We traveled with a small dog and had to eat outside. Both bartenders took our order on both nights and brought it outside for us in the patio area. Our dog was very welcome. The hotel itself is so cute with wood floors and rod iron beds. Reminded me of my grandmother's house. No t.v. or telephone in the room. A small refrigerator was appreciated.

Our room was over the kitchen so it was a bit noisy. However the restaurant closed at 9, so by 10 it was pretty quiet. They offered coffee and hot tea but it was never hot and they ran out quickly. The bathroom didn't have any counter space but we made it work.

Beautifully restored historical property. I'm a foodie, & dinner was fantastic, well prepared, delicious and presented well within a delightful ambience. (I had the local fresh trout and a martini at the bar.) Helpful, friendly staff. The inviting outdoor patio area with fire-pit encouraged socializing, but had enough space to spread out for privacy if desired. Plentiful hot water in the shower. Great location within walking distance of downtown shopping and attractions.

The almost free breakfast was just OK. Lots of carbs and not real tasty. I Truly enjoyed visiting with other patrons though, which enhanced the experience.

The grounds are very nice and I wish I had more time to use all the amenities. The bed was comfortable, the shower had good pressure and the staff was informative and friendly.

Small mechanical issues in the room. The sink was leaking from the faucet which was a minor inconvenience. The room did not have a TV but the wifi strength was good to make up for it.

I was unfortunatly at the Monte Vista during and after Hurricane Helene. We lost power the first night. But the staff were so nice and trying to get information about the flooding and road situation. They cooked and took care of everyone at the hotel. They did an exceptional job while many of them had difficult personal situations with their homes. Thank you to the staff of Monte Vista.

My breakfast/brunch was outstanding. I also had dinner in the courtyard one evening. It too was incredible. If I wasn't staying there I would go there just to eat. The staff was very eager to please and was very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend at stay there. When I return, I will stay there again. My dog loved it as well. She was graciously welcomed and felt very at ease. We will be back.

(Restaurant closed), great coffee tho! Staff quite invisible except Jenna very friendly and helpful; appreciated historic atmosphere but suggest pictures on walls! Gazebo and patio lovely and restful morning and evening :-)

Bath window in 216 needs scrape/paint. Refrig and/or microwave would be appreciated - maybe in closet due to space?

Love the restaurant with the fireplace. Pricey but excellent dinner. Great, old building.

I was surprised that there was no TV. Also, it was chilly in the room. I personally enjoyed that, but if you prefer a warmer atmosphere, you would have been freezing. Typical for an older establishment though. Disappointed that they didn't have a full bar. I would return.
