The breakfast was abundant, and the accommodation was secluded and very quiet. If our flight isn’t delayed next time, we would love to check in earlier and experience their off-road vehicle rental. This place is a paradise for outdoor activities, but unfortunately, we only stayed as a stopover this time.
Even after dining hours, the common area remained filled with the smell of cooking oil and smoke. Additionally, one of our beds had a broken light. To top it off, driving in after dark is highly challenging—the pitch-black mountain road, low visibility due to fog, and rabbits frequently crossing make it quite dangerous.

The location is isolated and beautiful. Very special place. Staff were friendly and helpful. The beds are not very comfy and the rooms are very small but it is worth the place and the atmosphere. The restaurant is quite good, very good burgers, pasta and salad. Especially given the remoteness of the place.
It's a simple place with small rooms and shared shower/toilet. But it's a small lodge in the middle of nowhere, so that's what is special about it.

A beautifully located lodge with a warm, homely vibe that offers a good meal and warm fire place after a day exploring the magnificent castle hill area. The friendly owner and piles of brochures offer an abundance of information for mountain biking, skiing and hiking in the area. The dining and lounge area has great views, is very cosy and provides an overall a great place to enjoy the evening. I was allocated a 6-bed dorm to myself, which was very lucky and kind! The shared facilities were good and clean, though 2 toilets and 2 showers could cause a bit of a traffic jam if people are sticking to similar schedules.
Although the menu has a good selection and offers continental breakfast, the facilities does not allow for self-catered stays. The price of the location does however seem to take this into account. The rooms are not (or at least not when I stayed in April) heated and can be a bit chilly, but perfectly fine for sleeping! My only real gripe is that the shared dorm rooms have carpet in it and that you can hear everything from the hallway/neighbouring room.

Porter's Lodge is a unique opportunity to stay close to the ski field, relax in comfort and eat amazingly delicious food!! Staff are all super friendly, I felt very comfortable and well cared for.
The reality is it IS a dorm share so you never know who you'll be sharing with:). I would recommend taking earplugs as well as sound travels easily in the lodge. That said, the staff made sure people respected the 10pm quiet time.

The location was really beautiful, the staff was super kind and entertaining.
The fact that you have to buy food from the bar limits the possibilities for people that have a lower budget or simply do not want to buy every single meal of their stay.

Beautiful location with all we needed. Staff were amazing, chatty and helpful. The place was clean and cozy in most areas. Overall very happy with our stay. Cost of the room was very affordable.
It was still quite cold in the bathrooms and the playroom. Prices of food/drinks were pretty pricey but I was happy to splash out for our trip Mattresses aren't fab.

Beautiful place to stay in between the mountains in the castle hill area. Was much fun as there was a quiz with some locals. Other tourists and me where able to compete too and it made the night. Good kitchen, good bar. Had a great stay!

We loved the homely feel the staff are so welcoming and friendly and the food is great! Good value for money and feels lively and remote
Liked it all! Maybe a few extra showers would be good for the ladies but other than that all great

Evening meal, drinks and coffee were really nice. Staff friendly. Board games to keep us occupied. Great stop off and just what we needed. Far from main road - so you need to drive here. Very windy on the night when we stayed and it woke me up frequently- not the property's fault but if you are spooked easily just an FYI. - quite a cool experience - very alpine :)
Room could have done with airing out more.

Dunny the boss he makes you feel most welcomed..... Out in the middle of nowhere about 6km from the main road. You think you're not going to get luxuries, how wrong I was. Great at night for looking at the stars.
