The kitchen was great, plenty of space and well equipped. The owner was friendly and helpful. Supplies can be bought at the shop at the front. The hostel is in the centre of Oxford with several lovely hikes nearby.

The rooms are tiny with minimal storage space. If the hostel had been busier there would have been competition for the limited bathroom facilities.

All the amenities and the heating facilities are good. The bunk rooms are very spacious and the common facilities like kitchen and the bathrooms are very well maintained.

The upper bunk beds dont have any rails or handlings, it was a bit difficult to climb and get down. Although the beds are very clean and cozy.

All the facilities were impeccable. You don’t have to worry about the kitchen utensils or anything else. Clean and tidy inside, staff were lovely. We’re just enjoying chatting with each other so much. They give me a map of Oxford which I can see somewhat we should try in the small town. Overall, that was one of the most nicest backpackers ever!

The motel was quiet and the general facilities were very good. The hosts went the extra mile for us with providing tea, coffee, milk, cereal, and they were so friendly and helpful. the rooms were warm and clean. We will definitely go back to this accommodation in the future.

Double room was a bit snug but we were only in there for a few hours to sleep so it wasn't a big issue for us. This is not a 'didn't like' it's just a general comment...

We stopped off in Oxford by chance because someone we met suggested we by-pass Christchurch and drive the inland scenic route so I was searching for somewhere to stay on the route. The Oxford Queenette Backpackers was just right. A comfortable ensuite room next to a large and well equiped communal kitchen. The lady who runs it was very helpful and waited for us to arrive as we were running a bit late. Oxford itself is a nice little town that has a Town Hall (opposite Oxford Queenette Backpackers), library, art gallery and museum plus a number of shops including the Sheffield Pie company.

Nothing really, though I do wonder if our room might have been a bit noisy if the place was full. As it was there was only one other person staying

I love everything about this little gem. The staff are amazingly friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spotless and super warm and comfy. The added touches of having shampoo, shower gel, etc. is a lovely touch. Honestly - the whole experience is far beyond what is charged. Love coming back here to stay pre-race every year.

We stayed here as a pit-stop en route to somewhere else. We had no expectations, just using it as a bed in between A & B but found the hostel to be clean and well equipped. We stayed in a twin room (bunk bed) which is incredibly small but exactly as pictured in the photos. The space is utilized well with a lamp and charging station for each bed. Showers were great, hot with good pressure. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need and the shared living area was comfortable and had plenty of info on the local area. The owner/ staff were friendly and gave us all the info we needed for our stay. Everything was really clean and we were very comfortable during our stay.

The owners were super friendly, the room, bathrooms and kitchen were super clean. Would highly recommend a stay here if you’re passing through.

The walls are quite thin so I can imagine it being loud when it’s busy. It was pretty quiet when I stayed so didn’t bother me (and I use earplugs)

It’s one of the best Backpacker Hostels which are still working! A stay like in the good old days of BBH! No luxury, but lots of heart. Clean, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and friendly hosts. Brillant location close to Christchurch and on your way to the West Coast.

Wonderful place. What a gem. The en suite had a superb showerroom. Big clean kitchen with everything provided including slow cookers and rice cookers👍 Very friendly couple running it.
