the location
we stayed in the stables and some cars went down the road with some speed you had to be care full when opening the door to the accommodation quite dangerous when booking in the staff chatted to somebody telling a Storey when he was having a bath I had to interrupt the conversation to find out where we were staying

Great Dog friendly getaway. Once we discovered the main road, the sat nav guided us through a tiny village and tight country lanes, but the lady on reception corrected that as we were staying 3 nights and wanted to drive around the area, which is beautiful. Our room had twin beds, tea making facilities, tv with netflix and WiFi, and a large shower in the bathroom with a good hot stream of water. The dabbling duck serves a good variety of evening meals and a full English breakfast. Overall, we enjoyed a wonderful stay. Thank you.
Our mattresses were a little wobbly, time for a change, maybe. Our front door looked like it could do with a paint too. Not complaints, just observations.

We came to Devon for a flight experience near by the hotel; and it was amazing. We arrived 30 minutes early and they checked us in, no problem & no questions asked as the room was ready for us. The staff are really accommodating and lovely, they assisted us in all queries and were always ready on time. We ate at the on site restaurant - The Dabbling Duck. The food was good, the service was amazing; we ate straight away and we even asked to have our table pushed closer as we booked a little too late. They were happy to seat us early and serve us super fast. The room was beautiful; small and super nice. The only issue was that it was a little hot in the room but there are windows to open, so that helped. It was really clean and it smelt lovely in the room. The bed was so comfortable and I slept like a log all night long. When we woke, we went straight to breakfast which was also really nice. A full English, with a help yourself continental on the side. We booked a room for one night with breakfast included and the price was really good too. It was also very quiet - no screaming children, no rowdy people and everyone was lovely to talk to. I am and would recommend this place to anyone and everyone as it was a lovely stay. The grounds are nice to walk around, with lots of places to take your dog; it’s also dog friendly which I love. The only thing I will say is that the bar is pretty small but there is a smoking area with a shelter to sit down in on summer days. There’s also a fire pit at the front to sit around with friends which is super cool. I loved staying here with my partner and will definitely be staying again in the future. I want to thank the staff, chefs and cleaners for doing an amazing job and welcoming us to the hotel, they’re a great bunch and they really made the stay amazing. 10/10

Friendly staff, comfortable beds, fair prices, and an amazing location. We stayed for one evening while passing through on our way further south. I have spent a great deal of time around the area of the Blackdown Hills over the last couple of decades and never spotted this place. It's a hidden gem. The location is beautiful and well kept. There is also the opportunity for some fishing in one of the ponds. The restaurant is also lovely. Everything we ordered was fantastic and, again, fairly priced. We didn't get to fully experience everything that this location had to offer, given that we only stayed for one evening. We are planning to revisit for longer in the future.
Rooms upstairs in the main building are extremely hot during periods of good weather (rare though they may seem). This was also in part due to a heating pipe running through our room, which could not be switched off. This was mitigated somewhat by the provided fan, which was already available in the room. However, I ended up sleeping on top of the covers. The area would also be perfect for star gazing. However, the property has many very bright lights switched on at all hours, ruining low light vision. This is perfectly understandable for safety reasons. However, it was a bit of shame.

Location, comfortable room, hot shower. Lovely hotel.
We were aware that the hotel was dog friendly. However, we did not realise that they were allowed in the restaurant. We would like to have been given the option to sit away from people who had their dogs with them. We don't mind dogs, but we can't understand why they have to be in restaurants now. This seems to be a big thing atm. There, are, believe it or not, people who don't have dogs and maybe like us are getting a bit fed up with sharing spaces with them. It's fine in country pubs and where there is no food being served. Or, a separate area would be good.

We were given the Lakeview room and it certainly did not disappoint, the views were beautiful over the lake. Room was immaculately clean and great sized modern bath and shower. Congratulations to the chef the choice of evening meal was also very good and deliciously cooked. The grounds are stunning and we would absolutely come again. ❤️
Room was over the function room and as they had a function on that day it was very noisy. However it was finished by 6pm. Also we were put into the overflow dining area in the evening which was bare with no atmosphere.

The family room was brilliant and ideal for us. Plenty of space and a good layout. Breakfast was delicious.
Not a dislike just a suggestion. There wasn’t any plug sockets in the double room for us to use. There were some in the other room but not particularly helpful when you need your phone charging and being your alarm in the morning. Also, this is more personal preference but instead of a shower curtain that can get in the way, would a glass door not look better and give clearer room when showering.

We came to Honiton to do a skydive and driving experience and Lakeview was the perfect location for this, only 5 mins drive away. Beautiful grounds with a lake, we sat out in the evening around the firepit and children roasted marshmallows and some other kids played football on the field. A nice chilled out family atmosphere. The food at dinner and breakfast was lovely but there was a long wait for breakfast.
The rooms are a bit dated but fine. My parents said they had no hot water in their basin tap. My mum who's in a wheelchair wasn't able to use the shower as there was nothing for her to hold onto.

We liked the location and area. It was very peaceful and soothing and as we had travelled for a funeral it was just what we needed. food was great, the service quick and very pleasant and prices very reasonable. The unit consisted of two bedrooms which were very comfortable and clean . The lounge area was of a good size and very light and the small storage room was great for putting all our cases and coats in. We would definitely stay here again and for longer
This is only a small issue but The shower cubicle was a bit of a challenge as the door opened outward and some of the bigger individuals had problems manoeuvring around this as the bathroom door was immediately behind you. However when in the shower it was lovely and warm and had a good flow.

The hotel was really nice building in a beautiful setting. We had an excellent meal in the evening, and then breakfast was a really tasty selection of freshly cooked food. The bar area was very nice for a pint of Otter Amber and the outside terrace was very pleasant to sit out in the sun. We have a room with two bedrooms which were well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were very friendly. Overall an excellent stay - thanks!
The room was quite hot overnight even with all the radiators off and windows open which is going to be checked by the team. Room 6 could hear some of the snoring in the room next door.
