I had a wonderful stay at this bed and breakfast. Parking was surprisingly easy right on the road, much better than I expected. The hosts were very accommodating and welcoming, and even gave us great recommendations for local pubs and restaurants for dinner. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and they were more than happy to cook items that weren’t even on the menu, which was such a thoughtful touch. The location is central, making it easy to get around. Everything was spotlessly clean, the shower had great pressure, and the rooms were very comfortable. I’d definitely recommend staying here!

The biggest compliment I could give is that staying at the Blue Mantel was just like being at home. The hosts were lovely and very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for them! I was in a single room with a private bathroom just 10 seconds down a hallway but there are various combinations of rooms available. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had at hotels and B&Bs over the years, maybe THE best! I was able to park right outside on both nights but even if you can't, there are plenty of parking options nearby. Perfect location for many attractions, in my case watching cricket at Taunton. An easy journey to the Taunton Park and Ride for onward travel by bus to the cricket ground. All in all an excellent place to stay, good value for money and highly recommended !!👌 😃

Can't think of anything!

Our host Andrew was very helpful and friendly. I was staying overnight with my sister who has some special needs and Andrew showed great insight and compassion in helping us with the arrangements. Being quite an old building, the rooms were fairly small but were clean and had been modernised and decorated tastefully and were adequately equiped (although being somewhat technophobe, my sister struggled a little with the Alexa!). We didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on the food. But overall this small and friendly guesthouse was just what we wanted for an overnight stay in Wellington.

Although it wasn't much of a problem for us, there was quite a steep staircase up to the rooms which wouldn't be suitable for residents with mobility problems and/or heavy luggage (as far as I'm aware there isn't a lift)

The Blue Mantle is well maintained. The hosts were very friendly, warm and responsive. They put in a great effort to make guests feel welcomed and comfortable and to keep the facilities in the room to be up-to-date with the latest technology. The charging hub and the Alexa-controlled electronic equipments were convenient and useful. The breakfast was fantastic and very value for money. All in all, I had a great experience staying in the Blue Mantle and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for accomodation for a short visit in Wellington.

Nothing.

The communication and organisation was perfect from giving us the door code if we were going to be late arriving, to parking suggestions. The beds are extremely comfortable and you cannot fault the cleanliness. My son loved the alexa being able to turn the lights on/off! The breakfast was also delicious, particularly the coffee and the orange juice.

We were a bit hot (nothing the owners could do as they provide a fan), and road was a bit busy so noisy with window open (again, nothing the owners can do as grade 2 listed building).

When I arrived, it was dinnertime. As well as being very cheerful and helpful, the proprietor and his daughter recommended a Chinese restaurant very nearby. The daughter said that the Sweet and Sour Chicken was delicious, so I tried it. Made to order, it was not like any other sweet and sour I'd had before - the batter was tempura and the chicken tender. I would've had breakfast at The Blue Mantle, but was meeting a friend elsewhere for breakfast. From what I could tell it was splendid.

Nothing that I didn't like.

What a wonderful experience! We were provided with clear instructions on how to check in, and the whole process was seamless. The room maintained some great traditional features with some modern touches, and there were several thoughtful additions. Exceptional value for money in a great location. We will definitely return.

Inclusion of more tea/sugar/milk for those of us who love a cuppa would have been useful (there was only enough for one drink each given that there were two of us staying). A hook for the towel next to the shower would be helpful, too. Small suggestions, though, based on an excellent stay overall.

A comfortable, quiet, welcoming place that exudes genuine hospitality and charm. The care and attention the hosts put into the restoration of this old building is evident from the wonderfully inviting exterior and the soft welcoming interior. The hosts put this same care and attention into looking after their guests. I instantly felt at home. I stayed in the smallest room in the house which is quite tiny (as I expected from the description of the room given) but very restful and suited me perfectly. The bed was very comfortable and the towels soft and fluffy. It was a pleasure to stay here.

Easy, person-less check in to a warm & comfortable self accommodating room, WiFi was convenient and fast, the electric blanket was a huge bonus on a February stay! Close walk to the centre of the town and a good information brief

Might work for some, but personally unplugged the Amazon Alexa, all appliances were close enough to turn on, nothing required specific instruction to operate and felt unnecessary, no instruction given on what devices were smart within the room and why the Amazon device was needed

Lovely owners, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was exceptional with freshly ground coffee with high quality bacon and sausage. The guest house itself is well positioned in the town and close to all amenities. It is an old building with some original features still visible especially the stunning floor to ceiling bay windows on the front. Highly recommended if you’re visiting friends or family.

A slightly firmer mattress would have suited me better personally but that is purely the individuals preference. The fact remains that the room itself was comfy, clean and had all the facilities you would expect.
