It's a great place for a stop over on the way to Devon. Despite being on the A38 it was quiet at night. The lady that met us when we arrived and served us for the evening meal we had there was lovely, polite, chatty and clearly happy with her job and helping customers. The dinner portion was very generous, as was the breakfast. It was good value for money,

We ate at 6.45pm in the evening and there were hardly any other diners there, but there were quite a few things not available, including any burgers at all, which my husband had ordered. Again at breakfast there was no hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict. It was a bit disappointing but not the end of the world!

Breakfast was beyond my expectations - I'm veggie and the alternative options were excellent. I also had an evening meal with a group of 20- served promptly and food again was delicious. Facilities in the room were great, hot chocolate, tea and coffee end biscuits. Overall I great place to stay.

The stars are a bit steep but that's to be expected in an older building - but maybe help with luggage would be appreciated.

On arrival the staff couldn't be more helpful. 2 ladies were running the service and checkin. We had booked a later table for donner but we were able to eat earlier than planned. Lovely being able to eat outside. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was good and reasonably priced The rooms are comfortable. We only stayed 1 night. Great WiFi. Had a great nights sleep.

Our room lacked sockets. Not sockets at our bedside cabinets to charge out phones. Our bathroom needed updating. Felt rushed at breakfast even though we arrived at 9.30 when it ended at 10. They ran out of granola and no coffee pots for breakfast.

Polite, friendly and helpful staff. Welcoming atmosphere. Warm. Nice public areas and free WiFi. Very clean room. Convenient location closer to the motorway and Wellington.

Bed was lumpy, woke with a sore back. Shower head would not stay in position but kept sliding down. Could do with decorating in places especially around the stairs. Soap dispenser broken in the gents loo.

We booked a table for a evening meal service staff and food was very good we stayed 1 night the room was comfortable and clean breakfast was also very good

The toilet didn't like flushing very well also the motors were going all night outside our window on a flat roof to do with cooling units which was quite noisy could not have window open

Friendliness of staff happy to provide good level of customer sevice. Special mention for Manageress/owner. Good in house menu with multiple choices for vegetarian or vegans.Location close to motorway easy

Nothing not to like. Property in need of some maintenance however it had just passed high season at time of visit which may have been a factor . Getting in or out of Bath/shower may provide difficult for those with mobility issues, a grab rail may be beneficial

Friendly, efficient check in. Room bright, clean and spacious. Nice hot shower. Had evening meal and breakfast, both were exceptionally lovely meals. Generous portions and tasty. Traffic from main road didn't bother us at all. Big car park, easy to get to. Value for money.

A bedside lamp would be useful, there are wall lights but they were quite bright.

Really lovely people to deal with, Jon and the team were always accommodating and very helpful. Good food is served here, and a nice choice of beer, Gin etc to suit most tastes including some local brew. Comfortable rooms and reasonable prices.

It's location means a car is necessary to go anywhere, although there are several places a short drive away.

All the staff.were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and well equipped with cupboards, drawers and chairs. It was good to have enough towels for 2 people, as one would expect in a double/twin room but don’t always get in other hotels. We wanted to organise a Wake in their Event’s room. The staff showed comparison and experience in dealing such matters and was able to advise, and cater for our needs.

Would be nice to have extra table a chairs or a dressing table so you can sit down to do one’s make up. The room was big enough to accommodate one.

Extremely comfortable room, nice friendly staff. There was a problem with the door when we checked in (as I understand it, the room had been decorated the day before). When we mentioned it to the staff member he immediately gave us another room. We noticed a maintenance vehicle outside and the issue was being resolved within the hour.

The option for a later breakfast would have been appreciated. Due to circumstances (family illness) we were on call to go to the hospital at any time. Having been up very late the previous night it would have been wonderful to have something to eat a little later than (I think it was) 9:30. Having said that, the staff member on duty very kindly made us coffees on request.
