The apartment was easy to get into after hours, and is nicely located in a quiet area of downtown Tirano, right near the Church of St Martin, cafes, and restaurants. The staff (Stefanie) was available for any questions, and was super helpful. Our room was almost a suite: lots of room for our things without crowding the bed. The shower was amazing. Exterior shades kept the room very dark at night. The apartment is only a pleasant 10 minute walk to the train station, where you can catch the Bernina Express. Finally: if you are coming for the Bernina Express, consider staying in Tirano for an extra day or two. It is a lovely town, and the San Martino would be a great home base for your visit.

in the middle of the night we couldn’t figure out how to use the thermostat (not being able to read Italian)

Clean, well laid out apartment with coffee maker, kettle, small hot plate and sink. Dining table and comfortable bed. Security shutters on windows. Good aircon. Good location near shops, cafes and restaurants. Short walk to the train station. Easy to follow instructions from the host Stefania who is very helpful and friendly. Communicates via WhatsApp. We were able to checkin early which was great as it was hot! Recommend for stay in Tirano.

In the heart of Tirano old town, in walking distance to railway station, but the location is only one of the many positives of this accomodation. We were perfectly delighted with the whole apartement, from furniture to facilities and cleanliness. It is obvious that the owners pay attention to the details in order to make their guests feel comfortable and welcomed. In our opinion, it is a high quality accomodation.

We only had 24 hours to enjoy your quaint setting! Our room was perfect in every way. We enjoyed opening the windows for the sights and sounds of bells ringing, the laughter of friends walking below on the cobblestone lane, and the convenient location to the train! Oh, did I mention how attentive our host was to a question we had? Thank you for 24 hours of bliss!

Could not think of one thing.

Our bedroom was large, a luxury really in comparison to almost all the other places we had stayed in during our 14 day vacation. The aircon, the extra pillows, firm and comfortable bed, cleanliness, location, excellent cafe just opposite the hotel, were all added bonuses. To top it all off, our hosts were so warm and hospitable. They even waited for us to check in at just past 7pm as our train had arrived late.

Clean, pleasant, parking close by (free of charge sat eve to mon morn). Clear direction for self check-in.

The heating only works when the key is in the key slot. For us to come back after dinner it took until the early morning to have the room at a pleasant temperature. We were also hoping for a more elaborate breakfast at the coffee shop.

The property is located right in the centre, it’s super easy to get there from the station on the Bernina Express. The accomodation is lovely and exceeds expectations. The room is so clean and the bedding is fresh. There are lovely touches like good bed linen and expensive free products in the bathroom as well as good free coffee in the room. I came away thinking I’d had a very luxurious experience for a budget price.

I wish I’d stayed longer.

San Martino Apartments is about a 15 minute walk from Tirano station – mainly along cobbled streets. Leonardo was friendly and had excellent tourist information available. We really liked staying here - our room made very good use of the space. Our room was spotlessly clean. Room 1 on 1st floor. Some reviewers don’t like that the bathroom has a window on to the staircase, but the glass is so opaque, one cannot make out any details at all in the bathroom (we checked). The WC and Shower are separate to the wash hand basin but this was fine - many hotels we stay in are like this. Very comfortable bed – tea and coffee and kettle in room, with a small fridge. There is a supermarket less than 100m from the apartments. Leonardo recommended Parravicini restaurant and wine bar. The meal was exceptionally delicious. I have a food allergy (not one of the 14 usually listed allergens) and felt very safe eating there as the waitress took care explaining what I could choose from the menu. The next day we went by a local train over the Bernina Pass – when interrailing this is included in your interrail ticket (unlike the express train) and has windows one can open to take good photos!

Clean and comfortable and walking distance to main city centre. Walking distance to train station also.

We had a beautiful room but Unfortunately a badly designed bathroom meant you to go around a wall to use the basin after toilet. Shower was in the middle ! Toiletries not replaced after first night. ( this may have been an oversight?) overall would definitely stay again !

we booked it wirhout breakfast, but around the hotel you can find many restaurant. Stefania is give a very good instruction how to access the building. She is very friendly and helpful, very professional. Room was clean and confortable. Location is great surrounded with many shops and restaurant.
