This was the first time I'd been to The Chequers for about 25 years. I couldn't believe the change! Beautifully decorated and the staff were all so friendly, not that those 25 years ago weren't :) They've done wonders in the gardens also. The beds! Now, that was the best sleep I've had. Booked another night it was that good. Definitely get a breakfast.....nothing at all disappointed me.

Lovely old country pub, food was good, fantastic garden and comfy bed. We were in room 2, which I think was a king room, massive room, and lovely newly decorated. Big new smart TV. Staff are really friendly, unfortunately we couldn't stay for Sunday lunch but it looked great. There was a Saturday market at the rear of the pub with locals selling local delicacies and homemade items, which was nice. We didn't have breakfast as we like our beauty sleep but we were offered a cooked breakfast if we wanted it. This is the only pub in the village but there is the Vineyard 15 minute walk which is also worth a visit. There are also a few walking routes around. We did the hop picking route, which was really nice. The pub car park also backs onto a football pitch and children's play area if you want it.for kids or dog walking, it is far enough away so not to cause any noise. Overall, it was a lovely stay.

We had an amazing stay here to attend an event they were throwing! A lovely historic property set in a pretty village and surroundings. The food was so so delicious and well presented, the dinner, pudding and then breakfast, everything was perfect! The fresh flowers and cookies in the room were really nice and thoughtful and the bed was so comfortable. The staff here were all great, welcoming and helpful. A special thanks to Tallulah, Sophie and Caroline who were really knowledgeable about the history of the building and were so friendly, warm and fun. They are genuine assets to the place!

We received a fantastic welcome . All the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Super dinner on the first night. We had Dover Sole and a super vegetarian roast. Sunday Lunch was a amazingly large. Great Value. £319 for two nights including breakfast and dinner. Located in a lovely village and next door to Scotney Castle.

Lack of hanger space. A minor inconvenience. Apart from that everything was spot on.
