A shelter in the storm! On a recent backpacking trip through Ireland, I was caught in a heavy downpour and soaked through. I made a very last-minute booking to stay at the Melvin Country House, arrived late that evening, and received such a warm welcome that it made me glad for the rain!! A lovely, comfortable bedroom; kind and courteous hosts; delicious hearty breakfast made to order; even the tea and scones upon arrival were such a thoughtful touch. When I'm next in the area, this is first on my list. Highly recommend!

It is a place where you literally feel at home. The hosts are nice and friendly people, ready to give advice on what to visit in the area. Truly exceptional hosts. A peaceful place to relax. The room was large, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included...you have several breakfast options so everyone can choose what suits them.The accommodation is close to the lake, 3 minutes by car. The nearby village, which has a shop and a pub, is also just as far away.

Everything was more then I expected.

Very nice hosts, I felt welcome from the first moment. Nice gesture was a handwritten welcome note in my room. Breakfast is abundant, very well organized and deliciously prepared by Frances and Martin, according to the guests' specifications. The room was spacious and bright and perfectly clean. The common areas are very spacious and a cozy atmosphere. The location is rather remote, but very quiet and peaceful. Great starting point for activities in the area. Landmarks in Co. Sligo, Southern Co. Donegal, Leitrim and Fermanagh are within a 20-60min drive.

Excellent good old fashioned Irish welcome by gracious hosts Frances and Martin, who run an excellent, well looked after clean property with warmth and charm. A lovely quiet property - The other guests were a mixture of couples and families with pre-teen children. One young couple had their dog travelling with them and while you might expect a noisy night with dogs and young children, we had restful sleeps for all four nights.

Very hard to find fault as the establishment is well run and cared for by the owners who live on site and go the extra km/mile for their visitors.

Very comfortable, quiet and relaxing place to stay in a quiet and safe location..... no nightime noise and the bedroom was unusually roomy. A lovely bonus to be able to order breakfast the previous night from a menu provided in your room and have it delivered to your room at a chosen time next morning at no additional cost, and breakfast was very nice and well presented. Frances is a lovely host, unobtrusive but there if you need anything. I would have no hesitation in staying here again if I am in the area. 😊

The only issue during my stay here was the wifi which kept dropping, perhaps it was just an issue on the day or maybe due to the location.

Arriving on a Sunday evening, we were quite restricted on where we could go to eat, but Frances made us very welcome on arrival and suggested places we could try. She even made the lounge available for us to come back to and provided glasses for our self-supplied after-dinner drinks. The rooms were very comfortable and the whole experience was relaxing for our 1 night stay between 2 long drives.

From the moment i walked through the door, i felt like i've been friends with Frances and Martin for years. It was so good i delayed my plans and stayed another night. 10/10

I liked everything, the room was huge, well decorated, the bathroom has a bath and a shower, tea and coffee facilities. Just brilliant. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. And by the way, the breakfast is to die for. 10/10

A beautiful, welcoming, safe haven. The owners were friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. The en suite bedroom was extremely spacious and comfy. The breakfast was generous and tasty. One of the best b&b's that I have stayed in. Excellent value for money. Would recommend and would definitely visit again.

Completely out of their control but no reception on Tesco mobile. The home has free internet that can be a little patchy (again, beyond their control) but was a life saver for communication.

Very comfortable large country house with spacious relaxing lounge and lovely dining area. Made to feel very welcome from the start with cup of coffee. Surrounded by beautiful west Fermanagh countryside. Just south of Lough Melvin and very convenient to Lough Navar Forest Drive. A hidden gem. Dinner was outstanding, breakfast too. Room lacked nothing, and plenty of space. Enjoyable in every way.

Frances greeted me on my arrival with my dog. She's such a lovely lady who made sure everything was perfect for me and my dog. The room and bathroom were very clean. Before I left the property she made sure everything was good for us. She offered me a meal before we left which was very kind of her. It's a really nice and quiet place to stay. It's very close to the Lough Melvin and Buldoran and other cities. Highly recommended!
