We were looking for a quiet break in the country. It could not have been better. The setting at the foot of the Swartberg mountains is breathtaking. As there is a constant stream of water from the nearby mountains, the dams are full. There is abundant game on the property some of which can be observed from the Lodge. The rooms are luxurious and very comfortable. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, the perfect place to chill and unwind. The meals were most appetising and enjoyable.

I did not experience anything that needed extra attention.

Go to the end of the earth and turn left and drive for 30 min. You’ll end up in heaven, or the Swartberg Private Game Lodge. we were greeted with iced roobois tea and made to feel most welcome. a 3 course dinner ( prepared esp for us as we are vegan), breakfast (also generous and accommodating), the comfiest bed and giraffes grazing out our patio door were stunning. The staff made it even better - everyone goes out of their way to make you feel special and welcome. We did the game drive which was under 2 hours but well worth it. Beautiful area, gorgeous surroundings, happy animals. would love to come back!

We enjoyed every minute of our stay! The staff were friendly and made us feel right at home. They went out of their way to cater to our dietary requirements- all the food at breakfast and dinner was delicious! The game drive was lovely and thanks to the keen eye of our guide we saw many beautiful animals. The beds were comfortable, the showers were hot - perfect after a day of exploring. The lodge is close to the Cango Caves and the Swartberg Pass so ideally situated for sightseeing in the area.

Wonderful trip to this remote game lodge set at foot of Swartberg mountains - quiet and peaceful. Lovely spacious rooms, excellent service from Willem, manager, superb dinner around warm fire in the evening. Game wandering freely around lodge was wonderful. Short bicycle ride (own bike) around reserve to see animals very special.

Some heating in rooms in winter needed, although electric blanket on bed was nice

The views. Being able to go for long hikes on the property. Lots of game to see. The food was amazing! Our room was beautiful and nice and big with a lovely outside area. The coffee machine was a bonus. Great ambience in the dining room / lounge.

I would highly recommend that they put heaters in the rooms. Other guests also mentioned that their rooms were very cold.

What an awesome place to visit and stay. From the arrival to departure was a joy. The service we received from the staff and specialy from the Manager Willem. The exceptional culinary experience was one of the best we ever had. Game viewing from the veranda was as surprise. Can't fault anything. Highly recommended.

Beautiful view, peace and quiet everything neat and clean. The staff very helpful and friendly and Willem the manager was extremely professional and hands-on. Game on our front stoep. The food well prepared and tasteful.

Rooms spacious and comfortable, beautiful setting in the mountains with natural vegetation, good food.

A heater in the room would definitely improve the winter experience but the electric blankets were good. A fire in the dining room would also have improved the comfort and ambience as it was very cold.

Amazing time at the Lodge. Not only was the food (even catered for vegan) fantastic, but the ability to hike and mountain bike around this huge reserve gave us real freedom to experience the land and wildlife. Thank you Willem for your hospitality.

The property was fantastic and great for a ‘get away from it all ‘ break. Very quiet. Room , pool , food all great as was the host William. Highly recommended.
