Our one night stay at Old Parsonage was great! The reception staff were very welcoming, professional, and helpful. The hotel, our room, and the facilities were superb.

The breakfast was very good, but the service was patchy. My partner's breakfast arrived to the table about 20 minutes after mine. When we stopped in for dinner on our way home, some of the male restaurant staff seemed unfriendly to the point of being unprofessional. It was unfortunate that the restaurant staff really let the hotel down and left an unpleasant taste to what had otherwise been a fantastic and relaxing stay. For this reason, I gave the hotel a rating of 8 instead of a 10.

The room was extremely well appointed and spacious. Heated floor tiles in the bathroom were a nice touch! The decor is contemporary and comfortable. We had breakfast in our room both days and ate a delightful dinner on the patio at the fabulous restaurant on site. The location is walkable to the Oxford University campus and other location in town. We also had a dedicated parking spot for our vehicle which was key. Do note, there are no lifts in this charming old property.

We arrived on a Thursday and loved our room facing the church. However, we were unprepared for church bell practice that went on for at least an hour and occurs every Thursday evening according to the church's website. It was charming, but quite loud, and an advanced warning would have been appreciated!

Everything was so clean & perfectly organised for a bijou room. We even had a little fresh milk in the fridge & homemade biscuits to go with our cup of tea. Loved having turn down, with extra water & biscuits provided again. The pressure in the shower was incredible. The staff were so friendly & helpful & went the extra mile to accommodate us. A lovely roaring open fire in the bar too which was a nice welcome on a blustery & rainy day. This is what I call a proper luxurious English hotel with all the trimmings. A real treat, as not had this in a long time.

The shower flooded the bathroom floor, it was just that the seal needed to be re-done on the door.

The front entrance is beautiful, parking was excellent , location great for walking to the main sights. Rooms very well appointed and comfortable.

The fire was on making the entrance very hot at all times. Getting through the dining space is very cramped and not pleasant to squeeze past people who are trying to eat. The staff service during breakfast was hap hazard, dropped salt and pepper behind the person eating beside us but didn’t apologise. Reached over the middle of party at our table where food was already placed to set down a plate. Breakfast pancakes were awful, thin and burnt.

Lovely room with terrace. Very attentive staff and warm welcome. Good location only a short stroll to the city centre. Great to have parking although some of the spaces are very tight. Cooked breakfast very good. Loved the library and outdoor seating. Overall very worthy of its five star rating.

Great to have free parking but some spaces very tight. Perhaps finding out model of car beforehand and allocating accordingly possible? Continental breakfast options a bit limited. Would expect more than one choice of cereal and yoghurt. No fresh fruit salad. Good hanging space in wardrobe but lacking a decent sized drawer. Having to walk through dining room to the bedroom not to everyone's liking.

The Hotel was amazing, lovely decor, the room was very well laid out, clean and tidy, bed was so comfortable and bathroom was massive. Food and bar was excellent. We had the Ribeye steak with Chunky chips which was so good. So much choice on the menu and also they do afternoon tea, which also looked great. We had the English breakfast, which tasted so good too. Would highly recommend.

The only tiny thing that I would say, is the parking is very tight, if you have a big car, it gets very busy here, so you have to be careful. You can go to back of the parking area and drive down and come back up.

We spent 5 nights to celebrate a milestone birthday. It was a pleasure! The hotel is well located in the sense that you are close to everything but away from the busy centre. We loved the architecture, the artwork, the library, and the food! The restaurant is superb! We ate here several times. The quality is just fantastic. The staff were friendly and always helpful in various inquiries. They also arranged special transport for me one day to a site 30 minutes from Oxford. We also liked our room 28 on the top floor. It was most definitely a period room (entrance door low), but perfectly modern, large, and we loved it.

I read some complain that this is more of a restaurant than a hotel. This was not our experience at all. And frankly, we just loved the restaurant!

It’s a real gem of a hotel - great location, comfortable room and and friendly staff. The breakfast waitress in particular was super helpful and the breakfast was really high quality.

I hesitate to say this because it’s a nice hotel and overall I enjoyed my stay. However, there is a problem with the ventilation system. The system is probably linked throughout the building - and this led to our bathroom being full of cooking smells from the kitchen. I thought I was imagining it at first but we stayed there three nights and found the smells only came at meal times. It was the only fault I found , but at that price I don’t think one should have to have strange smells in the bathroom. My recommendation is not to take a room at the top of the building because the smells probably travel upwards. And if you do get that room then keep the bathroom door closed!

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my mother's birthday, and it definitely did not disappoint. They prepared some wonderful 'happy birthday' desserts for our room, and the staff was incredibly kind to help us with the suitcases and have a friendly chat about Inspector Morse.Through correspondence with the hotel, I requested a room with a bath for my mother. Upon arrival, we were assigned to a beautiful room. Unfortunately, instead of a bath, it came with a rainshower (which was still amazing). Even though everything was fully booked, the amazing staff went above and beyond to ensure my mother got her desired room with a bath, with the most beautiful view. I can not stress enough how much that meant to my mother, making her stay and 74th birthday an unforgettable experience. The location and room are undeniably idyllic and wonderful, but it is the amazing staff that is the crown jewel of the Old Parsonage Hotel. I would, therefore, gladly recommend anyone planning a visit to Oxford to stay at this charming establishment and its wholesome staff.

The room was spotless and felt luxurious, very nice Wildsmith bathroom products. Breakfast was delicious, the restaurant and terrace are extremely pretty and the staff were all lovely.

I ordered the Sunday Times but instead got the Financial Times, with no offer to change it, just a refund. I also had huge difficulty getting my car out of the parking, since that front space next to the bicycles is really tight if another car pulls up next to you. Try to avoid it.
