My boyfriend of +5 years proposed to me during this trip, and in order to prepare the proposal he had emailed the staff prior to our arrival. They went out of their way to surprise us and make sure we had the best week ever. Not only did they prepare a picnic basket for us with prosecco and local delicacies and helped my boyfriend hide this from me until the proposal (which btw was at Stourhead Garden - highly recommend), they also decorated our room, so that when we got back to the hotel there was champagne waiting for us, rose petals, and a huge banner that said Happy Engagement. All staff members were genuinely happy for us and they all congratulated us. I have never experienced such a personal approach in a hotel, and I don't think there are many hotels where we would have had a similar experience. The people that work here are just lovely and very positive and happy people. It was such a special and heartwarming holiday, and we will definitely go back here to celebrate our anniversary.

We had previously used this hotel when it was a Premier Inn. Stop off for us following a very late arrival at Bristol airport. We advised them in advance and they forwarded a code to access the key safe which worked well for us as we arrived after 1AM. A night porter was supposed to be around but we didn't see anyone. Proper tea pot for our brew - always a good feature. Great countryside views from the elevated terrace, although steps to access property from car park quite steep when carrying luggage

A bit of a wait for (a very good) breakfast to be individually cooked/served but we were on holiday so this really didn't matter to us

I had a triple bedded room to myself in the main house, the bathroom and bedroom facilities were in excellent condition, the bed was very comfy and lovely linens. The bar and restaurant will start a major refit on Monday so stocks of food and beverages were being exhausted, hence a lack of cereal choice in the morning, a reduced dinner menu and just one of the beer pumps was delivering draught beer at £6:60 a pint. The staff were not given any latitude in explaining or compensating for the lack of provisions. That aside the new owners will no doubt change the experience in a positive way. The pub and grounds had been allowed to get a bit untidy.

Clean and comfortable room. Staff were friendly, helpful, and chatty. I did ask for a late check out due to working nights, which the staff arranged. However, I received a knock at the door just after the usual time when it came to check out. The lady was very apologetic. All in all, it was a very comfortable stay.

All in all - it was a good, clean room with lovely big bed. A hairdryer is in the room but did not work. This did not bother me as I took my own. The other slight annoyance was the shower door kept sliding open as it was on runners. However, I just wedged my towel in the gap to stop it happening. Again, no major issues.

The staff were exceptional, they couldn’t do enough for us especially the receptionists Shelly and Nicky (I think that’s her name).but all the staff were very good. We were staying there as we had to take one of my dogs to Langford vets for tests. When we arrived the welcome was amazing and in the room they had put a lovely dog welcome box for Ellie, what a thoughtful extra , They bent over backwards for us as we didn’t know how long we would have to stay if Ellie had to have a operation, but they helped us with ease some of the stress we where going through. We can’t thank then enough and will definitely be visiting again. Thank you all so much , it was really appreciated.

The main reason I stayed in this property was because it was dog friendly. Usually when staying in "dog friendly" places, the property allows dogs but usually not in the facilities, so I was overjoyed the fact that they were allowed in the bar too as after a 6 hour drive it was nice to chill and have a pint. Upon arrival we were even given a room choice from the lovely lady at the reception desk who even took us around the room and came back over with a doggy welcome box. I will definitely be returning, such a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff that couldn't do enough for us!

There honestly isn't a thing that I could think of which I didn't like!

Staff were amazing, so incredibly friendly and helpful. They bent over backwards to help. The room, toilets and restaurant were very clean and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the room temperature was easy to control. There are incredible views from the restaurant and the food was nice pub food. It is table service and the food is all freshly cooked to order where possible - obviously not practical with something like lasagne (which was nice). Think they said everything is made on site rather than bought in. You do need to allow time for the table service and fresh cooking though as not the quickest process.

The low level bath in the accessible room would be better replaced with a wet room style shower. The bath is incredibly narrow which made showering for my other half awkward. It would also not be accessible for me to use as a wheelchair user (although some may manage). We were only staying one night so this wasn't really an issue for this visit, but would be a factor for a longer stay. The bed was also very low which made transfers quite difficult. However, I was made aware of this beforehand and given a choice of rooms.

Perfect stay! Really attentive and friendly staff. We were personally walked to the room, whilst information was given regarding room heating, breakfast and where to find staff if needed. We booked last minute as the weather was against us getting to the airport from Cornwall the following morning, so headed up a night early. Best decision ever, we had a nice evening drink and meal, and a warm comfy room and bed to rest in! It seems to be an ex premier inn, so the beds are very comfortable. It’s been so lovely, we’ve booked again for another flight in a couple of weeks! I think this will become our new routine!

Nothing, we were very happy!

Hotel has just changed from being a Premier Inn so guests will see changes! Breakfast was good. Choices of various types all sensibly priced, and nicely cooked. Also had a good evening meal.

Room was cold on arrival and took a while to warm up. The air con/heating unit was full of dust and fluff which an engineer or contractor can easily sort with a good service. There needs to be clearer (or even any) signage for reception as guests arriving kept going into the bar to check in. And there needs to be a comfortable 'lounging area' - don't give the whole bar up to just tables for eating? BUT all this will surely happen once the new owners get sorted

First of all, it's in a brilliant location; 10 minutes to Cheddar, 25 to Wells, 15 to Weston Super Mare. Next, there are gorgeous views from the terrace across a lovely valley so when the sun is shining, it is the perfect place to have a pint after a long day. The staff are all incredibly friendly, and the on-site restaurant has me and my partner stunned as the quality was fantastic considering what we paid. When we head back to the south west, you can bet this is be our base for our travels.
