Beautiful property with excellent facilities. We enjoyed the mini golf area and morning walks on the grounds. The rooms were very comfortable and had a lot of Character. Good breakfast

The bathrooms were a bit dated, but then again in keeping with the character and charm of the properties. We were a group of 10 and were looking to book a few properties. We would have liked to see a map of the cottages to be able to figure out which cottages to book. However we emailed the property and Peter the manager was super helpful in helping us with the bookings. So it all worked out well

We recently stayed in the luxury Boulders Cottage with our family for a short holiday. Our welcome was excellent, and the cottage exceeded our expectations (very clean, safe and the equipment of the house was very complete, also there was an outdoor private swimming pool). The beds were very comfortable, and the service was excellent. Every day we received tips for nice activities in the area. We further enjoyed the extensive and lovely breakfast. The estate is quite nearby Cape Town Airport, Stellenbosch, Winery Road etc. All in all we had a wonderful stay.

Room was beautiful and spacious with everything we needed…. Even an ice bucket! The right thing for the wine lands! We enjoyed our wine on our little terrace, and had breakfast outside in the garden (they move the tables outside when the weather is good). The manager, Peter, is exceptional - really looking after his guests! All the staff members were really friendly: at breakfast and coming to clean, even the gardiners! We had the ‚braai‘ offered, which was delicious and a lot of fun experiencing this South African tradition and chatting to other guests.

We felt the braai was a bit too expensive.

Excellent hosting by Nick and the ladies; good breakfast selection and always freshly made. Outside gardens well kept and provided the tranquility we needed.

Would have preferred an outside self catering room as these open out into own garden space which is what I thought I was requesting when I placed the booking. The bed in the room we used maybe in need of a change...felt like the springs were pushing through. Maybe consider putting a queen size if replacing.

Marshen Estate is an absolute gem of a place. Driving into the estate you are taken away on an adventure. A lovely dam, a few springboks is what you see on your way to the guesthouse , peace and quiet is what you will find. There are big beautiful trees, the guest house we stayed in looked like a charming England Cottage. Staff are friendly, dedicated and the breakfast was delicious. The rooms are very clean, beautifully decorated and spacious. There is a big swimming pool, koi pond and a big garden. A venue of choice if you want a world class accommodation experience.

Very nice and secluded hotel in a beautiful nature setting. Super friendly and helpful manager or owner also providing heaters for the room, plenty of towels and amenities plus minigolf equipment for the kids. Breakfast was excellent too - from eggs to fruit salad.

The only thing to improve is perhaps equip the fireplace with some tools to run it (gloves, handles, shuffle etc..)

Location is lovely - very quiet and beautiful surroundings. The staff are great and look after you well. The rooms/lodges are very large and beds comfy. Feels very safe too. The breakfast is also excellent quality.

Air conditioning would have been nice as the rooms/lodges do get very hot! The ceiling fan doesn’t really do much sadly. However in cooler months, probably not an issue.

We really enjoyed our stay at Marshden. Peter is an excellent host. We booked last minute and so even though he was not expecting us, he still was warm and welcoming. Private pool and breakfast were both lovely.

Although we were a late booking, the room could have been a bit cleaner on our arrival. There were some small maintenance issues Peter was quick to respond to these.

Really friendly staff! The room was very comfortable. Sad to have only stayed one night as we were in the area for a wedding, it would have been nice to explore the estate more. What we did see of it was really beautiful. Security was also very good with a boom gate and very thorough security guards. The breakfast was awesome - just what the doctor ordered after a night of dancing!

The location was remote and a beautiful getaway. The bed was extremely comfortable and the heating provided for the room was fantastic for the bitter cold weather. The breakfast service was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The property was peacefully quiet and allowed privacy to relax during the day.

The room had a few cobwebs around the doors and their hinges on the inside. There were also some dead bugs and general dirt by the bedside tables as well as a hair clip that was not mine on the floor by the dresser. The water glasses in the bathroom had marks on them and the towel had bleach stains. There were no staff for me to check out so I put my keys on the table at reception and just left. The room would benefit from a microwave facility.
