One of the highlights of our family trip to Japan. We took a one day stop in Izu between Tokyo and Hiroshima to relax and that is exactly what we got. The town, the hotel were super relaxing. The Ryokan experience was very nice. But, beyond everything I have to say the food was excellent x 2! Amazing dinner and breakfast experience. Private dining rooms, a set menu full of everything, and a great service. The gentleman (Mr Kotera) that assisted us throughout our stay and took care of our dining experiences was out of this world. More like a Anime character than a real person, he was the greatest host we saw in Japan and Japanese hosting standards are very high.

The staff did not exactly master English well, but we got along very well thanks to Google translate.

The service was absolutely fantastic. Our host took the time to show us the room and explain in detail how the bathing facilities work. There is a public onsen (male and female) and 3 private onsens you can book for an extra cost. Even though there was a language barrier, they made the effort to use Google Translate to make sure we understood everything. The ryokan is accessible by a ~10 minute walk from the bus stop. The facilities are beautiful and extremely clean. This ryokan was one of the highlights of our trip. We chose breakfast, which tasted amazing.

Very interesting place. It was a first time in ryokan for us, so it was really a new experience. Very remarkable atmosphere, authentic and with a huge politeness. Unforgettable personnel. We also took the dinner and the breakfast, and that's also a must.

Everything was great, maybe the intro with the automatic translation was a little bit long, but also interesting as a part of an experience.

Very comfortable stay in Marukyu Ryokan. Very beautiful ryokan in a quiet town to enjoy our holiday. The food is very yummy that definitely worth a try. The dyson hair dryer at the onsen changing room is definitely a plus haha..

A small feedback. Maybe we should have an access card to enter the onsen, as sometimes the door of the changing room is open widely even though there are people inside the onsen.

Pretty much perfect. Excellent location just out of the main part of town but easy walking distance to everything, with access to the Sakura lined walking path along the river. Quiet, calm and peaceful and exactly as we would want a ryokan in a small and charming onsen town to be. Well prepared meals, friendly and attentive service from check in to check out

Nothing . We love everything about this place. The only thing is that it’s a little remote and is a little difficult to walk up the hill with luggages.

Wonderful ryokan onsen. Fantastic place to relax outside main tourist hot spots like Osaka, Tokio, ... Outstanding food!

Beautiful room. Outstanding breakfast and dinner. Very nice bath. Good massage. Lovely little town.

Bar area closed very early. If we did not have a Japanese friend to take us from the train to the ryokan, I am not sure how we would get there.

Fantastic food, lovely large room, very nice bath and hot spring areas. Excellent massage. lovely town with shrine, museum, shops and bamboo walk.

Very limited English. The lounge closes too early.

Private baths almost always available, the reserved one was amazing. Food was super delicious too.
