LOVE the fact they moved the parking to the side to create a lovely meandering garden courtyard between the rooms - (it's sooooo much nicer than motels that have carparks right outside each room). Also loved the guest lounge with a view, (and a bar). Both the lounge and the garden area really add to the experience, having these 2 spaces to hang out, instead of only your room, makes it feel so much more spacious and sociable. Very much appreciated. Also liked the comfy bed, and the bright colourful contemporary room decor - from the out-there floral wallpaper, to the stylee lampshade, and yes to the hooks on the wall. It all makes it feel like the owners care about your experience as a guest - thanks!
The courtyard rooms are quite small and their coffee-making area is pretty tiny. But you have the other spaces to make up for it. :)).

Nice courtyard, bathroom was spacious, clean room, excellent location, lovely staff, overall presentation was good.
My partner and I don't drink so we never ventured into the Champagne Bar, which was the front room in the main building, it was empty every time we passed; it didn't seem to be much of a hit with other guests. We didn't opt in for the continental breakfast, instead choosing to wander downtown to the cafes for a more substantial meal. I did hear that they had fantastic coffee but didn't sample it myself. I generally expect a hotel to have a restaurant for all meals, but there were other options in Kaikoura for dinner.

The owners of the hotel were so friendly and welcoming that we immediately felt at home. There are beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces at the hotel to gather with friends. Rooms are comfortable, quirky and have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel’s location is fabulous, right on the beach and within walking distance of cafes, restaurants and pubs. The breakfast was wonderful. We loved our stay at Kaikōura Boutique Hotel
There was nothing we didn’t like about Kaikoura Boutique Hotel.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kaikoura Boutique Hotel and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm and friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities truly sets this hotel apart. The room was impeccably clean and beautifully designed, providing a comfortable and luxurious stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. One of the highlights was the breathtaking view of the ocean from my room. It was the perfect backdrop to wake up to each morning. Additionally, the hotel's location is ideal for exploring Kaikoura - close to both the beach and town center. The hotel's restaurant offered a delightful culinary experience. The menu was diverse, and the food was expertly prepared. I particularly enjoyed the local seafood dishes which were fresh and delicious. What truly stood out was the level of service provided by the staff. They were always attentive, ready to assist with any requests, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a memorable stay. I highly recommend the Kaikoura Boutique Hotel to anyone seeking a top-notch experience in Kaikoura. Whether for a romantic getaway or a relaxing retreat, this hotel offers the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and hospitality. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so wonderful. I look forward to returning in the future.

The communication with the hosts was very nice, friendly and helpful.I could self-check-in due to my late arrival easily. That was great. The room was cozy and the bed very comfy. The atrium with chairs and desks was really nice.Everything was very clean.
the bathroom was a little small and it would have been nice to have another board for bath utensils and more hooks for towels but everything else was just fine

John & Deb both came out to welcome us when we arrived as did Harry their characterful dog who did a good imitation of an airport sniffer dog on us. Luckily we passed the test because this hotel is fab. We loved the room, the view, the pretty courtyard full of flowers, the location was perfect just up towards the peninsula. Breakfast was great too. We will definitely return!
Nothing to dislike!

We enjoyed our stay here and will come back. The hotel was charming and the staff friendly and genuine. We stayed in a Junior Suite and the room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony looking out to the mountains and sea. We also had a treatment at the day spa and Elaine was wonderful. Would highly recommend getting the massage. The Champagne/Martini bar was lovely & relaxing. There wasn't a lot of options for someone with food allergies but the one option was tasty.

Location was great, easy walking distance to town and beautiful view over the Bay. Bed was very comfortable and location was quiet at night. The new owners are lovely.
The tv, wardrobe, and kettle unit is a bit strange. Lacked a set of drawers. The bathroom and toilet is about half the size of the main room and seems to waste space, which could be used for storage.

Wow. Great location, very clean and very friendly. Had a courtyard facing room. Lovely garden, so great vista. John was an amazing host and an absolute star. Loves his rugby, as do I and found we had a lot of heroes in common. Fancy that - a Kiwi and a taffy talking rugby. I cannot praise John and the kaikoura boutique enough. Lovely place to stay.

Friendly owners on site who assisted when needed and are happy to offer up suggestions concerning the local area i.e Restaurant options. Ample parking for guests. The units themselves are more spacious than you think, and if the weather is good - there is a lovely courtyard to sit in. You’re also only a very short drive or a 10/15 minute walk into the town area.
