The location is very central and perfect to wander around in Pelourinho. Old and authentic stylish building, with a large and beautiful room.

Having just one courtesy bottle of mineral water on the first night for all the stay, forcing guests to buy minibar water, in a country where tap water is not drinkable, and in a hotel of this standard, is simply unacceptable. In all the hotels I’ve stayed at in Brazil, there has always been filtered water and either water jugs or complimentary bottled water available in the rooms. It costs next to nothing. Just charge R$10 more per night and provide water, it’s a basic expectation!

Beautifully restored colonial house, simple, elegant and comfortable. Location perfect, in the main pedestrian street of Pelourignho, next to Sao Francis de Assis church, next to the best restaurant in Pelourignho (and wider), with all major sites at a walking distance. Area is safe during day and night, with high police presence. Room is spacious, beautifully decorated, music from the street added to the atmosphere. Staff was warm, welcoming, all spoke foregn languages and were willing to help with all the requests I had, be that transfer from/to the airport, city tours, to minor daily requirements and orientation. They have a nice rooftop terrace with loungers, small pool to deep in on tropical days, and a gentlimen at the bar that makes best caipirignhas in Brazil :). I loved my stay at Hotel Villa Bahia from the first to the last moment.

All was perfect. Should have lasted longer.

As a solo woman traveler, I loved how safe the area was and how the owner, Gilberto, explained everything I needed to know about the neighborhood. The hotel is in a well-lit, well secure area that has a lot of foot traffic. It was extremely easy to catch taxis and ubers from the hotel and the staff was extremely knowledgeable about the city and the tourist attractions. I felt safe knowing that there was someone available 24/7 and I am so happy I decided to go with a locally owned hotel vs a conglomerate. Breakfast was amazing and I loved being able to have something light to start my day.

I wish that the pool/patio had loungers and that the pool was heated.

I loved the authenticity of the hotel, the location was in the square within walking distance to everywhere. The staff, breakfast was excellent. All staff were so helpful, but particular thanks to Xavier (hope i have the spelling right) very professional, personable and helpful. I loved the room, the size was great and the two sinks in the bathroom was perfect. I loved the terrace, pool area, the fountain and mostly that there were places to sit and relax. The breakfast and the breakfast seating area were fabulous. Everything cooked fresh and to your taste and liking. Thanks to all the staff

I have no complaints at all, if others were to stay, they may not appreciate the sounds of the various bands or drumbeats that fill the square and surrounding streets, but for me it added to the amazing cultural history of Pelourinho.

As usual, it is the staff that either makes it or doesn't. Here they were all just fabulous. It is a small boutique hotel with 17 rooms only in three levels so everybody learns to know each other pretty quickly. There is a lift. I was lucky enough to get one of the rooms with a large private balcony and this did add the comfort levels even more. Due to the small size of the hotel, the breakfast is "choose from a list" style, not a buffet. But the choice was very decent and both the quality and quantity were very good indeed. As an added bonus there was a different local speciality every morning. Everything was clean and well maintained. The location of the hotel is just about perfect, just a few steps away from São Francisco church. Around the hotel is a plentiful choice for restaurants and bars for every taste and requirement. The usual suspects for sights, plazas, museums etc. are all within a walking distance.

Nothing wrong with the hotel as such. If you want a quiet destination, Salvador is a wrong place. The Old Town of Salvador is pretty noisy during the daytime with various drumming groups wandering about and making a racket. Can't hide away from those anywhere, though. Better just accept it and move with the rhythms!

The building itself is just beautiful and although it has all the facilities you’d expect of a hotel of this kind, its historic character has been preserved. I understand that rooms are gradually being upgraded – I was lucky to be in one of the first. The room was large, incredibly comfortable and with a wonderful view of the Igreja de São Francisco. The pool is small but a bonus. Breakfast was excellent. The staff – from the receptionist, management, cleaners and in the breakfast area were all very friendly, kind and efficient.

The property itself cannot be faulted. Evening dining possibilities in the immediate vicinity are limited – the local area empties quite early in the evening.

This is a lovely boutique hotel. The interiors are beautifully decorated. The room was lovely, large comfortable bed and a spacious terrace overlooking the city with chairs and a hamac. Very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was delicious, very good coffee. The staff were so lovely and welcoming in all areas. Our flight was in the evening and they kindly accommodated a late check out. The location is great, close to main attractions. I will definitely comeback to Villa Bahia and recommend the hotel to friends visiting.

Everything was great.

A delightful stay in a historic building in the old part of town. The staff was outstanding and took care of all our needs. The air conditioning system was not working in the room we had booked so they quickly switched us to another room without a bother. For being so close to the main square, there was very little noise. The breakfast is outstanding and made to order which is a nice change from other hotels in Brazil. If your budget allows, this is a great choice.

Great location, beautiful old building, good breakfast, wonderful claw foot tub plus separate shower, large room

There were renovations or repairs going on in the hotel and lots of hammering noise during the day, the pool was out of service for the first few days and then too cold for me. Finally-this comes with the location and is not in the hotels control-lots of church bells ringing-quite loud on the hour all night and more softly every 15 minutes
