The location was superb, close to everything. I was impressed with the high level of professionalism from the receptionist to be precise Emily. She's warm, engaging, and willing to help and explain everything and offer some alternative without even asking. You could see she loves and respects her job. Overall, I had a nice stay. No noise at all. Quiet and peaceful during the night.
When I stepped out on Wednesday, I've asked the receptionist, I forgot her name, but it was not Emily. To ask housekeeping to vacuum my room and I came back, it was not vacuumed at all. They just refreshed my bathroom, and I was not pleased with that at all. Honesty is the key.

Staff were friendly and helpful
Our bed was hard and sloped. Pillows were thin, not a comfortable nights sleep.

We loved this hotel! Super-friendly & helpful staff (who went above & beyond to add special touches to our room, for a special birthday!), a great bar area with plenty of choice & a fantastic breakfast - really excellent quality. Our room was on the small side but absolutely fine & it had everything we needed - including air con, which was perfect for how warm it was! It was also extremely clean & the shower was great - lots of fluffy towels too!
There was nothing we didn't like about this hotel & we'd be happy to stay there again & would definitely recommend it to others. The car park was very small but we were lucky to get a space!

Great location. Everywhere in town was walkable, one block from city center and Stonehenge bus stop. Great helpful staff. Good internet. Free welcome drink.
No lift. If you have any disability, only stay on ground floor. Lots of narrow stairs, confusing layout. I have bad knees and with no luggage assist, made it difficult. In my room, shower was hard to step in due to being so high from floor, no shower mat to prevent slipping once in or trying to get out. Not trying to put down hotel for its stairs but I realized it was a big factor in my review. If stairs are not a problem for you, very nice guesthouse.

A bit of a walk from the train station but you get a great preview of the quaint medieval town as you pass through. The single room was small, as expected, but well furnished and comfortable.
I knew there would not be a lift when I booked. I was expecting stairs but this was a whole new level of crazy floors and doors to pass through. Due to an unacceptable lack of proper signage, myself and another guest - who had stayed in the hotel before - spent a solid 10 minutes wandering around, up, and down trying to find our rooms. Room 304 was on the front of the building, directly across from a nightclub and cocktail bar. It was a Saturday night stay and both venues had bright lights, loud music, and even louder patrons until the wee hours of the morning. Nothing the hotel can do about that, but you might want to ask the location of your room before making the trek.

We stayed in the Alfred Bowley room and the room was beautiful. Very comfy bed, spacious and quiet at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious too and staff very friendly. The hotel is also in a great location for the city centre with ample parking in the multi-storey across the road.
The bathroom layout was poor. There is plenty of space for the bathroom but for some strange reason the bath is in the middle of the space and the ceiling is a little low for over-the-bath shower (but my 6'2 husband managed for the one night). This leaves a narrow access to the toilet and the sink and the toilet is sat in a narrow space itself. The bathroom would make a fabulous wet room with the shower at one end. Other than the layout, the bathroom was very clean and functional.

the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful - they were amazing. The hotel is really lovely and a very short walk from the town centre and very close to a 24 hour car park. Our room was quite small but really comfortable with everything you would need. Friends had a huge room on the top floor. it's a bit of a maze finding rooms!
Only issue was the nightclub opposite which was pretty noisy in the early hours of the morning - the hotel have put in double glazing and air conditioning in the rooms so you can't open the windows- that did help with the noise but it's also nice to try to get some fresh air into the room. I found ear plugs drowned out the noise so it wasn't so much of an issue

We had a quiet and comfortable room as requested. The cooked breakfasts were amazing. And all the staff were wonderfully polite and friendly .The Hotel is ideally situated, being only 5 minutes from the Market Square and the nearby pubs and shops. It is only 10 minutes from the cathedral .I would recommend The Merchant's House to anyone wishing to stay in Salisbury.
The creaky bathroom floor. (Room 303).We could also hear the creaky floor next door. And somewhere to put our cases would have been more useful than the ironing board that we didn't need.
