I loved everything about the property. The breakfast was amazing, as well as the wine and cheese hour each evening. They had bottled water available and snacks out at all hours. Parking was easy, and I loved the privacy of the property, too.
Our bed in the Blue Room - the feet of the bed were higher up than the head. This is partially due to the fact that the rear feet are on a rug, and also due to the age of the building and the slanted floors. All the same, it would be very nice to have risers on the legs near the head to level out the bed.

The location is undeniably perfect for Newport. You are within walking distance of the beach and the iconic Cliff walk, and you have views of the water. Lovely neighborhood for the true home away from home feel.
Minor gripes- The bathroom mirror, and several mirrors in the hotel, are aged and this made it hard to get ready in terms of make up. They have a vintage feel. Very minor issue there. The breakfasts were cute, but definitely not a wide spread of items. Felt like very light fare for what is advertized as a bed and breakfast experience. The food was good, it consisted of some kind of overnight oat, a biscuit, and a tray bake of either eggs or french toast.

Great location near the cliff walk. Stylish individual rooms. Liked the wine hour from 5pm to 6pm. Liked having a fire in the room especially as it was abnormally cold. Staff were very helpful.
May be emphasise the amount of stairs for the top floor rooms for any one with either a lot of luggage like us or may be with mobility issues. Needed steps (provided by the hotel) to get into the abnormally high bed so felt it was slightly hazardous if you forgot during the night.

I cannot rave enough about this inn. From the elegant decor to the delicious spread for breakfast, each detail of the stay was a nice touch. I had the sun room and just being able to look out into the courtyard and beyond from the very comfortable window bench calmed my spirits. Also, the property was steps away from the cliff walk which was a bonus for me.
Everything was wonderful and the staff beyond helpful and welcoming.

Great location, lovely sitting areas. very nice staff
pretty smokey from the fireplace, even in our room..we were in the Governor’s suite which is very nice, except the tub had a leaky faucet.Spent the first night listening to it, then laid the faulty faucet head down. Apparently the part is on order. A note on the tub would have been nice to not have to listen to it the first night. or wrap a towel around it..

A beautiful property in a great location. Breakfast was a lovely selection of small plates, with delicious sweet and savoury home-made choices. We stayed in The Loft room which was perfect for January, very cosy with a remote-controlled gas fire and an amazing bathroom. If I stay again in the spring/summer months I would probably choose a room at the front of the house with a view out to the bay. We had a delightful 2-night stay and would highly recommend.
Small point, but the huge jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom has a slow filler, takes ages to get the water level up to the required level to use the jets, so we didn't bother - it would be super if that could be fixed, but it's still a lovely bathroom.

The location was steps away from the famous Cliff Walk. The room <Beatrice’s> was spacious with superb views of the water from a comfy bow window. Wine hour was unexpected and perfect post mansion exploring. Breakfast was original and appealing. The house was updated with fine finishes (from the herringbone wool adorning the front salon walls, to the gilded age portraits of local ladies)- a lovely mix of modern and elegant antique furnishings.
The bedroom was selected for it’s fireplace and late in April- they shut this feature off.

Location was great - cliff walk and beach were close by and walkable, yet the neighborhood was quiet. We even enjoyed sitting on the deck outdoors late evening. Parking for one car per room was included in the room rate which was very helpful in Newport where free parking is hard to find. And if our visit had been at a cooler time of year, we would have walked from the inn to the restaurants and shops on Thames Street. Our room (The Loft) was nicely decorated, clean and large enough for two of us to enjoy some down time in the room. Complimentary breakfast was unique and tasty - great choices served in single servings with all day accessibility to self-brewed coffee and tea.

We loved the additional touches that we did not expect (snacks/coffee/tea/ bottled water available at all hours). Upon arrival we were informed about a cocktail hour. They served 5-6 different wines with a cheese board/grapes. There was plenty of space to enjoy yourself if you didn't want to mingle with other guests. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and everything was super clean. We enjoyed looking at the stars through the skylight (we were in "the Loft" room). We loved that the property was walking distance from the Cliff walk.
Maybe nitpicking here. There is no elevator, and our room was on the 3rd floor, just something to keep in mind. They did offer help with the luggage. Just a recommendation: The breakfast could include more plant options. i.e. plant based coffee creamer/oatmeal made with plant milk. Overall, we did find the food creative.

By ocean. Old world decor with minimal trendy updates. Very luxe rooms. Great location by water. All around nice
I wish or hope they don’t make it too trendy as old world is what people come to Newport for. Plus this house is a site of historic interest. The Gilded is too trendy and seems cheap. Very different clientele
