Check in was great with a friendly lady who assisted us quickly and professionally. We enjoyed the dinner in the restaurant - the menu had traditional favs as well as adventurous combinations... Although I put some negative comments below we did enjoy our stay, all the staff members but one were great, and the rooms were well appointed with a bath and shower...

The rooms were very hot - even with the radiators and towels warmers turned off it was essential to open the windows - which were very small - and let in the noise of a generator which turned off and on each 10 minutes... At breakfast the lady who served us was very strange - we think she was trying to be funny but her communication and demeanor spoiled the breakfast... Ordering took twice as long as it sghould have done...

This was day 10 of the coast to coast walk. It's a bit off the Wainwright trail but I walked it but I think they will pick you up. Room was lovely and very quiet. Nice real ales and food was lovely. Albeit that I could only manage the scotch egg starter and chips but it was stunning! Service brilliant and they took me back to the route next morning. And a bath!!!! I'd walked 20+ miles, just what I needed! Mix up with the payment due to my error which was resolved in such a nice friendly manner. Really reasonable rate too.

Not much I didn't like. If you utilised the pick up and drop off then it's an ideal place to stay on the coast to coast.

Walking the coast to coast and this hotel a few miles of the walk, but they provide pick up and drop off at the head to the path. Nice bloke picked us up in the pouring rain. He opened up the boiler room to dry all our kit for the next day, which was being used by a lot of walkers. Room decent but needs a renovation for the price. Restaurant was great, after days of regular pubs meals they have a really good chef and food was high standard.

Considering the price it could do with a significant renovation of the room, apparently this is planned.

This is a really welcoming hotel, and a great experience. The staff here are really friendly and helpful, the decor feels fresh, and the setting is tranquil. Great breakfast, and the evening meal was good too.

Just little tweaks need consideration, like a blind in the bathroom of the room I stayed in for privacy (the Red Room), the option of a sheet or thinner duvet in the warmer weather.

I rarely write reviews, but I’ll make an exception for the Wainstones Hotel. It is wonderful. From the super friendly and helpful lady at reception (personally walking us to the rooms), to the great, and spotless rooms, the fabulous breakfast… Everything we experienced I’d rate at 10/10.

It’s so good, I fear it will so popular, we’ll never be able to get a booking in the future.

We had an amazing stay at Wainstone. The staff were absolutely incredible, so friendly and welcoming throughout. The whole place has clearly been renovated to a very high standard, combining comfort with a fresh and stylish feel. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional, with food that was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. A real gem – highly recommended.

The property is newly r furnished and decorated to a high standard. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The staff were very thoughtful and accommodating. Couldn’t do enough for you.

Other than outside there didn’t feel like there was a bar area where you could sit. Where there was some comfortable seating inside there was no atmosphere.

Solid pub that put on a good dinner and a great brekky. Room was spacious enough with a well appointed and good size bathroom. We were hiking the Coast to Coast walk and this is a bit off the trail but it was the only accom we could find in the area on the day and it was a pleasant surprise. After a great brekky, they supply a mini bus to ferry hikers back to the trail. I originally didn't want to stay here being so far off the trail but they made it so pleasant, I would do it again.

It's a bit off the C2C trail and there isn't much in the town but the pub can't help that.

The property had recently been refurbished to a high standard and it is beautiful. We had a roast dinner on the Sunday and breakfast the morning after, both meals were exceptionally good. The staff are very friendly. Great location and good parking. Make sure you book the restaurant as it is very popular with locals as well as visitors.

The location was great, nice and and quiet. Nice village with a couple of other pubs. Lots of walking opportunities. Parking. Food was excellent. We had the 2 course meal option in the evening. Breakfast was also fabulous. We had the Yorkshire breakfast, but there were other options available.

Room a bit dated. Unfortunately, it was very windy that night, and the back gate wasn't secured and kept banging all night, right beneath our draughty window. So we were a bit sleep deprived.
