Beautiful impeccably maintained property away from the bustle of the plaza area yet .9 mile walkable to the plaza on an off road path. The newly renovated property has a “ less is more” design esthetic which is both functional, calming and appealing. Our queen room with private balcony overlooking the heated pool and sunsets was spotless and cozy with comfortable bed and crisp linens. Bathroom was equipped with good products, ample thirsty towels, robes and slippers. Breakfast was an unusual feature; no menu nor choice of food. However the prepared breakfast was IMO an elegant gourmet arrangement. Our table was set with OJ before our arrival. As I ( we) have no allergies nor specific food avoidance it was perfect! Aiden, the chef, was very friendly and had a great playlist! The aesthetic of the dining room with gas fireplaces was pleasing and offers an excellent view of the property. The staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful. Derrick was always around and we learned a good bit about the property and wine area from him. He was never too busy for a friendly chat making the stay very personable.

All good!

We stayed at the Ruse for 4 nights, and it was wonderful. Very quiet and secluded feeling even though it is in the town itself. We had a green side suite which was kind of like a private cottage overlooking the enormous 18 hole real grass putting green. We didn't have time to enjoy the amenities but the pool and hot tub looked very inviting, we wanted to play bocce ball and pickle ball but no time. Next time. The room was very large, bed uber comfy as were the linens. Every light switch had a dimmer, so you can custom tailor the lighting to your own desires, and the thermostat was NOT on a motion detector and was NOT locked at certain limits, so you can actually set a temp you want, and not have to worry about the unit going dormant while you sleep due to no movement. One of my pet peeves with hotels now..... The bathroom was enormous with a really large walk in showered, fantastic water pressure and a great shower-head. Win, win, win! Breakfast was delicious. It is Cali, so the meal had the Cali feel to it, not waffles, scrambled eggs, etc. but the food was delicious and presented very nicely. All of the staff, front desk, breakfast folks, groundskeepers, room attendants, ALL of them super friendly. The overall decor is modern, very clean, furniture comfy. The overall impression is minimalist, almost Scandinavian in some ways, austere in others. But very pleasing, comfy and functional. The property is gated after 10 pm so very secure. This is a very nice place to stay and we highly recommend it. We do not give 5 star ratings often, The Ruse earned one.

Frankly, other than the lack of a bar, which we would probably not have used anyway, I really can't see a way to improve this hotel.

Super comfortable beautifully decorated room.

Breakfast was a bit odd. Although we were able to indicate that we were all vegetarians, we were not given any other choices and were served a pre-determined meal that was not what I would have chosen for myself. Also the portions were quite small and no bread or anything extra was served. We went out and got breakfast afterwards because we were hungry. Would have preferred a simple continental breakfast with fruit and bread.

The complimentary breakfast was so delicious made by the chef with fresh farm to table ingredients, which was a pleasant surprise. The onsite facilities, including pool, hot tub, mini golf, and pickle ball courts were also added bonuses to the stay. The rooms were clean and quiet. There was a variety of coffees and teas in the room, unlike other hotels. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We would have extended our stay if our itinerary hadn't been so rigid!

NOTHING!

What incredibly beautiful accommodations set in a most beautiful location! We enjoyed swimming in the heated pool and then relaxing in the jacuzzi. My husband and I loved the breakfast that was included with our stay - both the meal and dining room were superb. I thought the hotel would be very nice from the website photos but we were both so happy with our room, and we are looking forward to our next time staying at the Ruse.

Nothing, just wish we had more time there. We had several plans while in the area and would have loved more time just relaxing at the inn.

Everything! This boutique hotel is newly remolded. Our spacious 1 bd room suite was extremely clean, the bed was comfy, it included robes and slippers for all three guests, soda and regular water in the mini fridge, the guest sofa bed was turned down and made and it was smartly designed with a back door entrance to the pool area. This enabled you to enter directly into the large bathroom when wet from the hot tub and pool. Our stay included breakfast which the hotel emailed in advance to inquire about food restriction. The food was fantastic. To top off our stay Derrick provided impeccable service, giving us recommendations on wineries, car services and restaurants in the area. We highly recommend this location.

Much more than I expected! I came across this gem of a property on Booking and it met my very specific expectations. I needed a room that was handicapped accessible, which should t be hard to find but at times it is difficult. The property was perfect. There were no curbs (husband can walk but can’t step up on a curb or use steps) . Our cottage had a steeples shower and our cottage Was beautiful and comfortable. The property was amazing, the breakfast was wonderful and came with fresh squeezed orange juice. I will be back but I’m afraid that it will be sold out now that people are learning about this new property in the Healdsburg.

Two minor suggestions- magnifying mirror in the bathroom and electrical outlet by the bed to plug the cell phone.

Charming, helpful staff, beautiful property, well appointed. Lots of great seating areas outdoors. Delicious breakfast, artfully prepared and plated. Incredibly comfortable bed and pillows. Dimmer switches in the room and a powerful bathroom ventilation fan are very useful touches. Nice selection of low-key outdoor activities -- putting green, pickleball, pool, bocce ball. Top notch quality towels and linens. Understated decor done well.

Merely nit-picking, really. As with just about every other hotel, the bathroom lacks enough hooks and/or towel bars to hang robes and towels. Also, it's difficult to see well enough to apply makeup with the relatively dim lighting in the bathroom. Lastly, given that our room had a bathroom with a single sink, a mirror in the bedroom would provide a place to use style hair or apply makeup while the other person uses the sink.

If you happen to go to Healdsburg, The Ruse is a fantastic place to stay. Very clean and very quiet. There is even a lovely breakfast included. You can also walk to the town square, which takes about 15 minutes. I would return again.

Nothing. I liked everything. There is no need for improvement.

The main building is stunningly renovated with all modern amenities and luxurious rooms that are impeccably clean. The grounds are huge for a hotel with 11 rooms (including their cottages). We felt like we were the only ones staying there even though they were fully booked. We enjoyed playing pickle ball, trying out the putting green and the pool and hot tub both during the day and at night. The newly built pavilion is beautiful and we really enjoyed the delicious breakfast that chef Craig served us in the morning (all included). The service and the staff went above and beyond to give us the very best experience and helped us with recommendations and bookings. Christine and Debbie were especially exceptional!

The only suggestion we made to the amazing staff was to add an outdoor shower by the pool. That way guest can stay longer on the grounds and shower off afterwards even after they’ve checked out.
