We've stayed there for over 40 years. Clean rooms, we love this place. They used to have a great breakfast bar too. One of the reasons I stay there is for the free breakfast. They used to serve bacon, but for the last few years...no bacon, only sausage! The main reason we travel to Shipshewana is for the great food. We still visit Shipshewana several times every summer, but now I'm now looking for a new place to stay, with a better breakfast. After a few days there, it's the same old breakfast bar.

The place was very clean and nicely decorated. It had fireplaces in different parts of the building and lots of comfy chairs to sit alone or get together with others. The staff was very kind and helpful. The place is really big too. It rained a lot, so we often took walks inside from one end to the other. The room was nice and the beds were very comfortable.

Other than our room, the hallways and building were always cold. We were walking around inside with jackets on. The hot tub was not real hot and the water was kind of a funny color. We only used it once. The breakfast was always plentiful and there were warm or cold options, but there was no variation at all, especially in the hot food. We were there several days and it was always the same thing. And real silverware would have been nice. The wrapped up plastic fork and knife didn't hold up well and seemed like a lot of unnecessary waste.

Oh my gosh - there aren’t enough words for me to express how wonderful this place is!!! The absolute cleanest property - inside and out - that I’ve ever stayed! Outside, not a blade of grass was out of place, no trash, no old gum on sidewalk or pavement, etc. No weeds in flower beds or in the grass. Inside the rooms, the beds are so comfortable and the bedding appeared to be brand new. The room was also perfect in that there is a full bath, but there’s also a sink with mirror outside of the bathroom - genius! The most amazing thing I noticed were the stairwell areas at the exit doors (not the interior stairs). Any stairwell I’ve ever seen is dirty, dusty, has trash, cigarette butts, old gum on the concrete steps, spider webs in corners, but not here! Their stairwells look like they are scrubbed every day! I cannot say enough good things about this property. A+++++++++++++++😍

Exceptional property at prime location of historical and cultural interest. Shipshewana is an island of respite, refreshment, and good manners in a sea of modern mechanized clamour, rudeness, and indifference. Farmstead is a quiet zone, an uncluttered environment, a sanctuary from the ridiculous frenzy and noise of urban life. Rooms are immaculate and spacious. Service is rendered as devotion to God. Breakfast is wholesome, generous, and satisfying. The ambiance is conservative, traditional, pleasing.

There's absolutely nothing to complain about.

The room was amazing. It was the cleanest, most comfortable hotel room we have ever stayed in. Our request for first floor or near the elevator was met. The shower was a walk-in, perfect for senior's with bad knees, however the toilet was very low to the floor which was not. Everything was so very clean, no visible stains or other issues and the microwave and fridge/freezer worked well. I would definitely return as the room was just that great.

The only amenity that didn't suit us was the walk to another part of the hotel for breakfast. We should have driven, it was that far. Breakfast was very basic with little choice, eggs, meat, biscuits (hard as a rock) and gravy, plus waffle maker, wheat toast, baby blueberry muffins, yogurt and cereal. We declined to return the day we left.

Everyone is always very nice, had a slight problem with check in. The front desk was very helpful getting it resolved. We usually stay here when we come for concerts or just a few days get away and enjoy the atmosphere. The rooms are always clean and there's always a little note from the housekeeper which is a nice touch. I think there's something for everyone at the breakfast they serve, My friend had the biscuits and gravy and coffee said they were both wonderful. You can make your own waffles they usually have 2 different flavors to choose from too. I like that they are close to everything in the area, so you can shop, go eat lunch then come back to Farmstead, take a dip in the pool, sit in the lobby relaxing, or take a short nap especially if you have little ones. Also close to concert venue if coming to see a concert about 2-3 minutes down the road and easy to get to. Also hot water is great I've never ran out of hot water for a shower or a bath.

The only thing I wish they had was exhaust fans in the bathrooms.

Breakfast was good. Wish there was a fresh fruit option. Also would love to see Greek yogurt rather than the high sugar regular yogurt, but that is just a personal preference. Room very spacious. Entire property is very clean, including pool and hot tub area.

Distance from elevator to rooms, but that is the design of the building. Rules concerning wearing shoes should be enforced in the breakfast area. Many children old enough to know they need to wear shoes were in the buffet area. Definitely a safety and health concern.

It is a beautiful and clean hotel. Comfortable and large rooms. Good breakfast.

The only thing we did not like this time, at truly no fault of the hotel, is that we were placed next to a family. Typically this would not be an issue as we ourselves have three children. However, the two children in the room next to us cried almost the whole time they were awake. It is possible one of them was sick as we heard coughing often. The bad thing is that there is a connecting door to the rooms and it seems to be paper thin. My husband and I had no children this visit and it was to specifically send some quality, quiet time together. It wasn’t awful by any means but just to acknowledge that the neighbors to the rooms can be heard very easily.

The hotel had a nice pool and hot tub, the beds were fairly comfortable, there is ping pong and basketball for the kids. The breakfast was good. A lot of different things to choose from. It is close to the flea market and The Blue Gate is just down the road. There is a cute ice cream shop down the street too. Everything in the town closes at 5pm so be prepared for that.

Starters: The rooms are huge and very clean. The beds are comfy. The bathroom has two separate areas for shaving and makeup. This is great when there are two in the room. The seating was composed of two new recliners, a small table and chairs. The hotel also offers seating areas throughout the building fro people to just sit and chat. Our family really enjoyed the chance to have a lovely space to realx together. The breakfast buffet is excellant. The mornings we were at the hotel, we enjoyed biscuits and gravy, two kinds of sausage, scrambled eggs, egg casserole, waffles and more. The staff is very accomodating. We have stayed in various hotels in the Middlebury/Shipshewanna area and this has been the best.

I really enjoyed our entire stay and the only thing that might have been better was a restaurant on site. That would be a bonus. Otherwise we have zero complaints.
