Situated not far from the motorway, this was the perfect stop-over for our trip from Scotland to Dorset. Spacious, clean and comfortable room (good to have the option of a bath). Despite the age of this gorgeous building, it offered plenty of handy sockets, mirrors and bathroom storage. The pretty countryside setting was the icing on the cake, especially as the weather was so nice we could sit outside with a drink. Lovely!
Just two slight niggles. Granola was on the breakfast menu but none available. Also, we stayed on a Friday night and struggled to find a parking space at first - it’s obviously very popular with locals which isn’t a surprise!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of June, and both agreed that this is one of the best hotels in which we have stayed. The rooms are immaculate, well looked after and inviting. The service is flawless, with staff willing to help however they can, and the food... well... The food is top. My wife and I work and live in Europe and often find British food to be a little, how shall I say, 'underwhelming' perhaps. Not here. It was first class. Good quality home cooking, presented in a beautiful but not overly ostentatious manner. It was packed full of flavour and left us very impressed. For instance, on arrival I had the pie of the day, which was with leek and chicken. Stunning. Easily the best pie I have had. Breakfasts were equally impressive, with a wide variety, perfectly cooked and wonderful service. The Inn itself is also beautiful in a lovely setting. It feels as historic as it is (note Guido 'Guy' Fawkes stayed there in 1604), but without feeling at all stuffy. It has been preserved beautifully and looked after throughout. All in all a dream place to stay. Thoroughly recommended.

The inn was easy to find and very convenient. We upgraded the room on booking as had some bad experiences at other places recently and we definitely weren’t disappointed. The room was huge, the bed was huge and the bathroom was lovely. There was plenty of storage and very lovely tea/coffee tray. The bar was very friendly and inviting with a huge wood fire. Dinner and the wine were delicious.
Communication with the Inn prior to arrival was challenging and they didn’t reply to any messages I left on booking.com but they had reserved us a table for dinner and we did have the double bed we requested.

Friendly staff on arrival - big airy room clean. Location peaceful and quiet - we sat outside for a drink, decor lovely
Breakfast was confusing as it was included but the the waitress confirmed it was an extra £4.50 for a full breakfast. They had an email to confirm last week which I feel should have been passed onto guests. For the extra £4.50 we had a spoonful of beans, has brown and black pudding which was not worth £4.50. Also the waitress had to keep repeating herself to guest and explain. Otherwise the food was delicious. Also on the Friday back for our wedding reception - we wanted a drink before we went up to the room, staff informed us the bar was closed - 10.15 - 10.30approx - due to winter times? Its still Autumn and in the end we did get one drink - but didn't see what issue was as the staff were outside later having a drink?

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hadley Bowling Green Inn. It was an overnight stop as part of a longer journey but we would happily have stayed longer. The staff we met were all very welcoming and helpful - on arrival, over dinner and at breakfast and checkout. The meals were excellent and good value. The pub is a very old building with lots of charm in a picturesque countryside setting. That said, it is within easy reach of the M5 which was what we were looking for. We would have no hesitation staying again. Thank you.
Our room was a little tired, especially the bathroom, but it was still very comfortable and had everything we needed for a one night stay. We would happily stay again.

My room was large and very comfortable. The bed excellent and allowed a very good sleep. It was quiet with good facilities. I was parked outside the door, rge room being one of the three rear bedrooms. Dinner was well cooked and prepared and despite the 100 customers, the 3 staff coped admirably. There were no delays, the staff were busy but acted as though it was all routine. Their attitude was exceptional and they never seemed too busy to attend to customer needs. Breakfast is well cooked and prompt and there is a good selection.
I have no complaints whatsoever.

Our rooms were upgraded which was a bonus, staff very polite and restaurant and bar’s ambience good.
Very limited comfortable seating which was very disappointing especially after dining in the restaurant we had no choice but to sit on old uncomfortable chairs and for people of a certain age it’s not great!! Menu choice was rather unusual and limiting. Although the restaurant/bar area felt warm upon entering after sitting a while it became rather cold. Also the bathrooms could do with an upgrade, a better quality walk-in shower would make a big difference.

Our stay couldn’t have been better. The accommodation went above and beyond in every way for us, ensuring we had food after a long drive even with the kitchen closing and making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay with an infant. Cannot recommend this place and their very friendly manager more! Excellent food, comfortable rooms and beds, great water pressure, and lovely thoughtful touches in the room including homemade cookies.
Nothing - it was all lovely!

Booked the inn to break up a long journey from Newcastle to Pembrokeshire. As friends lived nearby we also took the opportunity to catch up with them in the evening. Before our arrival, they were very quick to respond to queries. When we were later than expected to arrive, we made a quick call to push back our table reservation without issue. Check in was prompt, our room was one of the lodges which was ideal as we had our dog with us. The room was clean with a huge comfortable bed. Shower powerful and plenty of hot water. Tea/coffee (cafetière), bottled water and delicious home made biscuits were a nice touch. No fridge so you have to ask for milk which isn’t a problem. Evening meal was delicious with plenty of choice on the menu and beers. Service was excellent. Breakfast similarly was really tasty, everything cooked perfectly. We would definitely stay again, Chris and team made us feel very welcome.

I was greeted with a warm welcome at Hadley BGI. Despite my booking being last minute, as poor weather curtailed my travel plans, the Inn check in was efficient, professional and made me feel comfortable. A lovely room, comfortable bed, fabulous towels and toiletries. Traditional charm. Good lighting and a well stocked tea tray. Fabulous breakfast choices in the morning.
A little bit of dust on the ledges and legs of the furniture and a tear on the stair carpet which worried me about tripping. Those two minors aside everything was lovely.
